Yes it’s a bit of a cultural thing for the mom to be more strict with the kid’s behavior, but she (nor dad) is never shown punishing Mob or shaming him. Just light nagging to not be burdensome to others. I think what really shows how they’re good parents is how good both mob and Ritsu are as kids. Mob especially, he’s extremely self reflective and empathetic for his age

In Asian culture there's a saying "the nail that sticks out get hammered" Basically, we're taught at a young age not to cause other people issues, to be mindful and respectful of those around us and to not be a general menace to society. Obviously these are normal tenants people should go by, but in Asian culture it's like you will bring shame and dishonor to the family if you act out etc. The mom probably see Mob's psychic abilities as something that will make Mob stand out and cause him and the family problems. She just has a different perspective in regards to culture and values and she believes being different is bad thing socially etc. Whether that's right or wrong it is what it is.
