That was just fan social media accounts making speculation, it seems logical but when you think about all the details, the pacing can’t improve with the current parameters Toei has. The only thing Toei said about the main anime is that it was going on break and for how long.

My first time watching with one pace and ive loved it these last few eps. Its been awhile since ive seen skypiea but the one pace eps make the beginning a lot less painless than I remember

Well, that can’t be true because they stated that they are going to improve the pacing and the animation. So if they say that, they have to adapt more than one chapter per episode, at least 1.5. Otherwise, there isn’t any benefit to the break. Every episode perhaps not, but some of them will adapt more than one chapter I believe.

All it did was increase the anime to manga gap by like 20 chapters, not enough to increase the pacing of 1 chapter per ep to 2cht per ep, unless they decide to take a break every year now.

Imo the people who suggested Skypiea/LRLL for One Pace are the ones suggesting based on content/interest not the actual pacing/filler. I've always said EL should be where they start using One Pace if they were to use it. EL will have the 2nd lowest chapters adapted per episode so far other than Loguetown which I don't really even count with how short it is. And I don't think they do a good job of covering up the low amount of chapters they cover like they do in some later arcs that cover even less

Yeah, Toei has also done some good work in multiple arcs of the anime. They're not entirely bad. Even now, the arc that the anime is currently at is on a six-month break until April to fix pacing and animation in the coming episodes. Hopefully, they don’t screw that up, but I do believe it will turn out good.

Now you guys are being picky. The amount of manga content Toei adapts per episode is the same until like after thriller bark. You guys are just suggesting certain arcs for one pace because some content seems to be less interesting to you than others. Up until the post time skip, if you’re going off manga pacing the version you watch should stay the same the whole time, one pace or one piece, not switching between both. I personally think regular one piece is the way to go.

Good world-building in these episodes. Carter nailed it at the end of the outro. Most of the lore in Skypiea won't even go recognized until wayyyyy down the line, but that makes the payoff all the more sweeter. Also, the theme music McKay mentioned was interesting is actually Nami's theme, which fits well since it plays while she is out on the waver because of her weather/currents knowledge. Lastly, I agree with Cannon about missing the eyecatchers in the middle of the episodes. One Pace will come in handy for this arc and the next arc though and then they'll be back!

Terrible take. Oda’s involvement in the anime, while still minuscule, is way larger than people give credit. This is during a time when Uda was the director, they were best friends, and would often discuss the anime over dinner. He explained all this in an sbs and interview, while also mentioning that the directors of the anime understand the story so well, that they have his full trust. Oda also watches every Saturday just like us and LOVES the anime, always has. The amount of moments that’ve been made better in the anime is incalculable atp… the anime only enhances. Even if you mention early gore scenes being changed, it’s nothing compared to valid changes.

Just wanted to point out that in the reaction of ep150/151 @39:31, Blackbeard actually says Haki here and is the first to ever do so! It was translated as “ambitious spirit” and done so because the translator probably wasn’t aware yet of the significance the word would have in the series. Haki can be roughly translated as Spirit or Will. Also the scene of Blackbeard picking up Luffy’s Bounty poster, there was a bit of a translator’s misinterpretation; Blackbeard actually expected luffy’s bounty to be higher than 30mil, mentioning the level of haki he felt from luffy as the reason. That’s why back at the bar he called luffy a liar for saying his bounty was 30mil, but as Blackbeard said in current ep151 scene, he was surprised just how high it actually was.

I disagree, the small issues or disappointments in One Pace are dwarfed by all the issues and frustrations in the OG, as far as I'm concerned it's just a straight improvement and that only increasingly is the case the further into the series you get.

The arlong park walk IS in the one pace cut though. My first watch of One Piece was with One Pace and that was there on my first go through. They don't match the manga 100%, but they'll still include important/humorous anime original moments. Although, it's still up to their discretion which ones they end up actually keeping (like Nami's mom)

OP verse is huge so every time the world expands it can take a while to digest everything happening since the foundations are just being layed out for re-contexualisation later on. These moments of adventure have their purpose too - especially as they provide a stark contrast to dark themes & situations that may later come as things get more serious or dire. You are still in early one piece (comfort territory) - cant wait to get to the PEAK piece! But Peak moments in OP go hard because Oda took his time to delicately craft & build up the story, laying the foundations that lead to the most EPIC payoffs down the line. - also many pieces of lore in this arc will be invisible to you until context privided from future arcs - which is why on rewatch this arc hits fans really hard. - Many who call this arc lore piece only disovered it was full of lore after context from later arcs.

When people say skypiea has a lot of lore it's in the same way the first few seasons of aot have lore. On a first watch most of the foreshadowing will be lost on you, but the arc truly is packed with symbolism and details that are extremely relevant MUCH later into the story. All this to say, don't expect bomb shell peak lore drops lol (yet)

Skypiea feeling like a side quest is kind of valid, and Carter brings up a really good point about how there hasn't been much in terms of story to push the narrative of the arc at the moment. The mystery gets set up really well in Jaya with not even knowing if the Sky Island is real. The crew made it safely and proved it exists, at least for themselves, but now what? This arc as a whole is good but I think it can definitely feel a bit disjointed.

I will say Brigg is right in the sense that Skypiea does feel like a very isolated arc. I've always said it but this arc alone could work as a stand alone 60 episode anime series. Ofc there will be stuff that ties in as you watch more episodes (and hindsight of it is CRAZY), but for the most part it feels like pit stop in the story where they've taken a detour on random island to go exploring just for the love of adventure. I still love the arc (one of my personal favs) and hope you guys will enjoy it as well!

Well let's not get ahead of ourselves now, using it for every arc would be a bit much. I think some people still remember when it cut out that moment with Nami speaking to Bellmere's spirit at the end of Arlong Park, who knows what other sort of moments that are not manga canon yet still add to the show could still be cut out. I think it's fine to use it for the tough arcs like this, long ring long land, thriller bark and maybe dressrosa. But let's not pretend like most of One Piece isn't perfectly watchable.
