not that bad considering, and i feel incredible about this compared to how i feel about what mark did at the end of the last episode c:

Kale

Mine was playing for 2 mins at a time, then showing an error, then taking forever to reload back to the minute mark, just to do that again. I think I deleted those a couple times, but I'll maybe try again to see the full episodes. Thanks!

UnKay

How we feeling about this now? 😂

Kevin Landon

I JUST figured out that I have to use Microsoft edge and delete my browser/cookie history for them to play, it's a pain in the ass

Kevin Landon

Holy....that hit way too hard.

Jacob Zamora

They're going to try to implant Kier's consciousness into a baby and that's why there's a baby Kier in the intro. I think Mark knocked Helly up, and that will be their goal. Honestly, they're trapped as long as they live where they live. The town they live in is literally called Kier and in the first episode the doula said half the town is severed. Can't wait til Friday.

When Gemma talked in Russian, I thought I accidentally switched audio to Russian dub. The accent was perfect. I guess she has to know the language in order to be Russian Literature professor. However, I have heard many theories about them being in Russia, specifically in USSR times (because of their winter clothes during ORTBO) and some other little details. I have read people saying that Kier looks a lot like Lenin, show gives major USSR vibes as well. Cold War - Cold Harbor. Mr. Milchek's name also reminds of the Russian word for "boy" - "malchik". Also it is always snowing over there

S Moonchild

@Mysterious Figure Yeah I'm doing fine, thanks for that! I totally suscribe for what you say, it's the way it should be, it just didnt work for us. About Gretchen and outie Dylan, maybe I'm a little bit too biased but I totally could see the kind of dynamic of a couple in which one or both didn't met the other expectatios on an on over time, leaving to frustration and simply letting the thing go in the end. Of course it would be great if they work things out 💪 @UnKay Fully agree, people shouldn't take that (potential) as a part of the decision.

JulioLG

I've been divorced awhile now, but my ex spouse didn't change over time, which was the problem lol. Don't fall for rouse or potential.

UnKay

@JulioLG I hope you are hanging in there. Life can be tough. Friends make all the difference. They did and do for me during my hardships. As for Gretchen and Dylan dynamic - I have my own perspective in a way that I have come to appreciate the tough experiences Ive been through during my relationship and then marriage with my late husband. If you manage to work through the tough times together and still hold on to love, trust, respect, appreciation, kindness... then all those grow exponentially. To come through tough choices is a give and take process through which both have to change and grow. What is wonderfully beautiful - is the chance to do so. Once it is gone, it is gone... so I found that we should always take that chance to grow, to fail, to hurt, to learn. We dont regret those things, like we do the ones we cant anymore. And again, for Gretchen and Dylan's relationship, I think we dont really know many details about it to be able to make a proper judgement, but I feel like they will ultimately be ok. I really like them together.

Mysterious Figure

Wild theory and could just be the obvious that he lied and wanted to convince Gemma to stay but.... The Dr. Guy said Mark has a new wife and daughter so what if Mark got Helena pregnant during the outdoor retreat. I don't know why they would do that maybe just another mind game or a way to keep Mark S. in check. It always seemed weird that Helena slept with Mark. Sure she was trying to convince him that she was Helly, but to have sex with him seems a bit extreme.

Brett

*yawn*

Scott Nagao

A Cairn was what ancient civs would call large magolithic burial structure.

Niffol

Perfect torture for our good Jack and many of us as well

JulioLG

Great comment. I'd add that I also find very interesting the Outie/Innie Dylan with Gretchen dynamic. As a recently divorced person I can totally relate to how Gretchen feels when interacting with the "stainless" version of her husband, the original person she fell for, without all the frustration of a person that after all they lived is veery different with her (outie Dylan). This show is so thought provoking, I freaking love it.

JulioLG

I Think Lumon is cloning dead people, trying to "resurrect" them with their own memories? They have confirmation Gemma is dead (allegedly), so she is a perfect test subject. And her husband now works for them? even better opportunity. They showed that other data collection room and it showed them watching mark while he works. And they were catching scary numbers too. They mentioned her hatred for writing thank you cards. And then showed them instilling a hatred for writing thank you notes. I think they want to "resurrect" her, and then reveal their savior Kier's divine power. Plus make shit ton of money on the resurrection business. Thats my wild theory. "You will see the world again. And the world will see you." "Mark will benefit from the world you are siring. Kier will take away his pain as he has taken away yours." Once she is complete they will unveil her "resurrection" bringing mark happiness and ushering in a world where death is no longer an inevitability. I'm wrapping more and more aluminum around my head each episode.

Niffol

Yes!!

Brieanne

I think they test the severance chip by making her go through torturous things, something that make her feel anxiety, physical pain, fear. Being Ms.Casey puts her in the same place as her husband which also gives her certain feelings and they can test whether chip works well or not. It is a room as well for her

S Moonchild

also, for me, contains the actual greatest love story told on television.

emma.bean

It was really depressing. And yes, Gemma and Mark have beautiful (and painful) love story, but I can’t help hope Helly/Helena be with Mark (but doubt it happen)

Vlad Lena

the leftovers made me the person I am today. 100% no exaggeration this show changed me and effected me as a person and it should be required viewing for humanity

emma.bean

This episode made me wonder what the point of making her Ms. Casey was. It seemed like her main purpose was to go into each room, so why the change to making her a therapist?

Desiree Retterath

This ep was sickening GEMMA WE’RE GONNA GET YOU OUTTA THERE

LK

With your voice of course? Partying too hard? 😂 ...or just caught a cold? I hope you're doing better ❤️

Mysterious Figure

The playback keeps cutting out on any mode or platform so I'm going to have to get the edited versions.

UnKay

This is how I was raised so I totally understand the Helly/Helena thing. It's a perfect duality representation. Helena is the one who isn't actually a 'real person' because she only ever presents as the conditioned and corrupted version of herself to please Lumon. Helly is actually already her fully integrated & actualized self.

UnKay

I loved Severance Season 1 for its meticulous writing and tight storytelling but feels Season 2 has taken a drastic downturn. The lack of real-world consequences after the severed employees' revelations, the characters' passive and illogical behavior, and Irving’s leap to kill Helly. The pacing is unbearably slow, with characters failing to react to major developments in a believable way, like Mark barely pursuing his missing wife or the team not demanding details about Hellys outside experience. I feel like the show has lost its original depth and urgency. It's suffering from the universal problem of no one can make a good season 2 of anything after a great season 1. My fear is the show is going to go the route of lost where the writers have no idea what direction to take the show so they add in a bunch of random stuff and leave a ton of unanswered questions.

JayCnY

no way ur not sleeping to watch naruto thats already out there lol

Lucas Chaves

For sure. Geks, let us know if uploads are going to be postponed to tomorrow morning so I can get some sleep instead.

Cannon Andrus

I literally have been thinking lately about what I can say to them to make them watch the leftovers….. like what do we need to do to make this happen 😭

Sissy Six

it's literally a spectacular episode that cleared up a lot of things. I don't understand how anyone can feel like it lost its steam while it's at peak

Ayaulym🇰🇿

it's kinda sad the shows really lost a lot of steam for me. Too many inconsistencies with the characters after everything that happened at the end of season 1.

JayCnY

R we getting Naruto today or tomorrow

GBuckets

Appreciate the uploads!!

Eiden Porter

Hayden, listen to me. The later, the better. I know you miss those girls, so we just have to wait.

I dont think Helena is even fully aware how dangerous her feelings for Mark are to her and her company, or what the consequences of her actions will be. I do think she will be crucial in some way in helping to resolve the ending of the show hopefully in a positive way for Mark and Gemma. Through the process of resolving her inner conflict she will learn how to love herself - something she will be grateful to Mark for, because he showed her she COULD be loved, since her father never actually made her feel loved. That is why she longed so much for that connection she and Mark made. Mark and Gemma are supposed to be with each other. Helena will learn to understand that too I believe, not easily tho. But in a make-or-break moment somewhere towards the end of the show probably, I believe she WILL make the right decision... Because deep down, Helena - is actually Helly, and vice versa. I think "innies" are the very core of the severed person - their most innocent and uncorrupted self, untainted by all the MEMORIES of life's hardships, pain, wrong choices and inevitable regrets... the innies are unburdened by all that, yet they still contain the original person's CHARACTER - Helly is feisty, always knows what she wants, is curious, smart, doesnt listen to authority... she has CHARACTER - she isn't an empty "husk", she -IS- a PERSON! Despite what her own SELF - Helena, says. Id go even further, and say that Helly is even more of a person than Helena, since Helena is more like her father's puppet than her own person. Thats why the Helena/Helly dynamic is one of the most interesting dynamics of this whole show for me - the irony is superb! Helly is actually what Helena really, TRULY is and WANTS to be like deep down, who she then later was made to "forget" to be, was "taught" NOT to be, was "disciplined" NOT to be - by all the Kier bullshit. You could almost imagine Helly being the original person, and through all the Kier brainwashing Helena was "created" without even requiring the process of severance - thats how empty Helena is made to feel to us the viewer. She is the prime example of why I think all the innies have their core selves intact, the core of their character is always there.

Mysterious Figure

This ep was everything I wanted but hurt so bad. I think Gemma's actress is incredible, the way she leaned back in the elevator captured complete & utter despair I'd be fine with waiting another 3 years if Mark and Gemma can be okay together in the end.

Ninaly

I firmly believe their end goal is immortality. I've wrote so many theories about this on past posts. I know all that about refining consciousness & transference. Potential clones. Potential new "perfect" beings. I even believed Ms. Huang was "grown" there. I get that I'm past that rn. I also believe they want people to undergo the severance procedure to gain control. That's where the control room comes into play. They can basically control the world & create a new political system. We also saw that severance is such a controversial topic & having pain free moments in life is a big selling point. Yes they'll be free of those moments but not in a way they think. Lumon has their own nefarious reasons. The "pain" I'm referring to is not only the inevitable physical/emotional pains of life but the pain of all necessary tasks of life.

Anya

30 Seconds to Mars!

GreetswithJudgement

what band

Kite

I love that my favorite band just posted a video of Milchick and the Severance team dancing from the first season in celebration to their 20th album anniversary. Good to know they’re fans.

GreetswithJudgement

Does anyone think Helena is trying to take down Severance? My wild take is she has teamed up with Rehgabi.

C U

The last 3 are the best of the first season...

Kevin Landon

I dont think they are actually severing people, I think they are growing consiousness in goats(like they grow organs IRL) then transplanting them into "severed" people

Kevin Landon

He’s in law school

McKay Carter

That scene in episode 5 where Ms. Casey runs into Mark and Helly during their “mental health walk” and she says “I forgive you” hits a LOT harder now

Seth Aasland

Just be prepared. 😔 It'll make for an even more tragic & complex story. A child he's always yearned for is carried by a woman who's partially responsible for his wife's suffering & who couldn't conceive. 🤯💔

Anya

Memories. That is what constitutes our SELVES. I dont really like the idea that outie/innie are two separate people. I consider those just instances where someone forcefully took away access to our awareness of what we are witnessing. Which basically hijacked our TIME away from us, with all the experiences that create new memories in that time. So, the process of Severance as I see it, is one big LIE that so many people with psychological trauma decided to BELIEVE in because they wanted to stop the pain. The leap in perspective this requires is HUGE on their part, because they have to accept an equally HUGE amount of time that their "aware lives" will be "cut short", because their memories are basically being stolen away by some company, under the guise of those memories belonging to "a different person" - this is the LIE that Lumon is selling. Many viewers of this show are also bought into this LIE, from my perspective anyway. But this is a philosophical dilemma in fact, because it all depends on the question - what do you think constitutes the SELF? Is it your memories? Even split personality disordered people arent considered multiple PEOPLE, just multiple personalities. And even in those cases there is a need for healing, for the resolution of conflict within, for holism. So when I see comments here with people saying this or that innie has the "right to live", it feels awkward to me to even see that kind of thinking. Does that make sense?

Mysterious Figure

“That room made my soul hurt”

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

wait is jack in dental school???

Terrence Choi

Does anyone else think Irv went through something similar in the past like Gemma is going through now? Irvs outie paintings are very similar to the hall Gemma/Ms. Casey was at the end…

Jengit

Yeah I'm not sure how the four tempers or the nine core principles fit into this yet. I think the "painless" existence is just PR to get people severed.

Anya

It’s a cool little detail that Gemma sneezed twice towards the beginning of the episode. Mark said that in season 1 as one of her little quirks that he loved

Alan

What happened Cannon, tell me.

Mysterious Figure

I think you’re onto something with how cold harbor has to relate to the pain of death. But idk if the chips have to do with getting rid of pain. They said in season 1 that not all of the numbers on the screen evoke negative emotions

Alan

Great theories! I think their "change the world" idea is to create this ultimate chip of a painless life that can appeal to people so they can get severed. But once they do they'll basically be under Lumon control. The world will be filled with Kier worshippers. & if Kier comes back he'll easily rule over them all. Making me believe that Cold Harbor relates to the pain of death or losing someone that's why Mark is essential to that.

Anya

this show has so much sauce bro its crazy

Kite

I think that each pattern of different rooms Gemma goes into they use a different outfit/hairstyle. That’s why she said “shit” after she saw the dress because she knew it was a dentist day so her teeth would hurt

Alan

Yea I don’t even think it’s a theory at this point they essentially said it without saying it

Alan

I’m wracking my brain trying to figure out the answer to the question “wtf are they actually doing down there” the only two theories that I can think of are 1. They are trying to put all of the data from the mind onto the chip in their head. So once one body gets old, you can just remove the chip and insert it into another younger body taking over that person’s consciousness, essentially becoming immortal. 2. Kier collective hive mind where everyone becomes kier. Even these theories have holes. Here’s the facts that I keep thinking of -Mark is IMPORTANT. For whatever reason they need Mark to be the one to finish cold harbor. Even though the other MDR people are doing the same thing - the only significance I can see to what makes Mark special is that Gemma is down on floor 2 doing things in the rooms with the same name as the files mark is working with. It might have to do with love? Idk - Lumon is a company. I think whatever they are working on, the end result is something that they can reproduce and sell. - the big security dude said “cold harbor will change the world” - the goddamn goats. Yea their purpose confuses me. Maybe whatever they are trying to do was successfully done with goats and that’s why they have them around? Goats poses a pretty high intelligence so maybe goats were the trial run, similar to how we use rats for experiments before human trials. - they all love Kier. Everything is about Kier. They idolize Kier, the end goal in some way has to involve them. Idk. The fact that the security guard is saying it’ll Change the world makes me think it has to be something BIG and those are the only two things that make sense to me

Alan

I agree. I think it’s the kind of thing they would have to answer in a court of law because there really isn’t a black and white right or wrong answer. Otherwise are we just saying the innies don’t get a say on their own existence?

Alan

Oh my gosh

Cannon Andrus

I agree, if she reintegrates it would be a mess. It would also be better for her innies to know that they are not going to suffer anymore. But it’s obviously very complicated

Jackson Carter

Yes September, the dentist and Christmas scenes confirm that for sure. Plus they talked about “severance barriers” holding up in that room with the 4 people, I felt like it could’ve been talking about Gemma. It would make sense if they could sever her on different wavelengths

Jackson Carter

This episode is so peak

cozo

Umm here are the differences as I see them: - Gemma did not consent to being here and having brain split into new people - Gemma is severed so many times that if she reintegrated there would probably be issues with split personality and then her QoL would go down significantly. Even if it didn't she would be traumatized. - Compared to the rest of the cast each of Gemma's innies has not been alive for very long, she said just a few hours as ms. casey. - Most of her innies have never really had interaction besides with the dentist. One iteration of her doesn't even know what "I love you" means. Its not like they have a personality or experiences which are what make a person. Basically if she reintegrates her quality of life will be so bad thats its preferable to kill her innies since she they are literally just trauma baggage

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

I think that’s exactly what was happening, being severed multiple times, experiencing different parts of her based on the room she enters and in result she has many different versions of herself , like a multiverse. If that even makes sense. They’re testing the “limits”

GreetswithJudgement

That’s an interesting idea. It would make sense for each of the different files of numbers evoking different emotions. I.e dentist=fear, uneasyness Christmas=joy (not in Gemma’s case tho lmao)

Alan

Holy shit I didn’t even think about that she definitely is that makes too much sense narratively to not do

Alan

The end goal/ happy ending we’re all looking for, as in the BEST case scenario for our characters is having their outies/innies merge. Otherwise, it’s unfair to the other one. Who is to say one deserves to live more than the other? Why does Dylan need to reintegrate why does helly?why does Irv? If we’re treating some peoples’ innies as separate people who have their own experiences they should at the very least get to decide for themselves. Otherwise we’re no better than Helena when she said innies are “not people”

Alan

True but why does she need to reintegrate. She could just escape as gemma and forget all about being Ms Casey and the last two years of trauma

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

I don’t think it’s far fetched at all. When she said “i was just here” at the dentist and “it’s always Christmas” it pretty much confirms that those parts of her are always stuck in those rooms.

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

Thank you! Damn, that episode is depressing...

jrnoodles

Marc doesn’t need an army He just need Reghabi Give her a baseball bat and let her crash out 😂 She’s abrasive and I usually don’t like that but she’s one of my favourites characters

LeFlaneur

The only sign going towards that is the Christmas room imo, to be fair i made the comment half way through the ep so I’m slightly more open to it now but 🫠 we saw an X-ray of her head so we know there’s only one chip in her head 🤷‍♂️

Kale

Don’t even manifest that 😔

Jackson Carter

Bruh, you missed peak on episodes 7-9

Jackson Carter

Bruh how??? What other explanation is there

Jackson Carter

Pavlo, I trust you my Ukrainian friend

Dasha

I’m sorry but the multiple times severed theory the boys are making is NOT it 😭

Kale

You do, its soo good 🤩🤩

Pavlo

i felt the same dw

Lucas Chaves

Seeing all these comments, I really feel like I need to push myself to get into this show. I watched episodes 1-6 of season 1, but the last three felt pretty boring, and I couldn’t stick with it. This comment section is reassuring, hope I'll thank you later

Dasha

YES. The Leftovers is one of the best shows ever.

Maria

i think it was sakura vs ino over and over

Lucas Chaves

This made me feel so icky. Like even if she’s to reintegrate she’ll be just an amalgam of traumatic experiences

Alan

Yeah & then Carter just looking so down in the dumps totally felt that😢

Anya

Chose the wrong episode to watch high af 😭

Jv1300

Your emotions weren't ready but your voice box was lol

Anya

Lol Same! I have questions! & Lumon basically owns their healthcare. I wouldn't be surprised if they tampered with her IVF treatment so they could prey on them! But why? Why them?!

Anya

Yeah anything that invokes fear, pain, & suffering. I also think Cold Harbor is linked to death.

Anya

Apparently they have a room where Gemma watches GOT Ending over and over again.

James Moss

After seeing Gemma struggle to get pregnant, it'll be heartbreaking if Helena is. I love hate this episode. Tragically beautiful.💔💔 Liked the discussion & theories at the end. Energy level at the end compared to the beginning was so real.

Anya

Depression

ahmad

I had this same thought, they should definitely watch The Leftovers!

Brieanne

The editing and the shots were just incredible. One of the best episodes of a tv show I've seen in a long time. I don't even know what else to say about the actual episode other than my heart is just ripped into pieces.

Enma

I am thinking maybe the files are things that you can sever yourself to avoid tasks like dentist appointments, repetitive tasks, exercise, fear of flying, giving birth etc....I think cold harbor may be military like--sever yourself not to fear dying ( drowning vs suffocating)

C U

Welp…3 more episodes left.

GreetswithJudgement

I havent tortured yall enough... once Severence ends yall need to make The Leftovers your next show. Just as great, twisty, and depressing. Also has the Lost writers.

jblakk

from "severance thursdays, lets effing go!" to "i dont wanna watch that ever again" 😭i feel for you boys

bloartle

This episode might be one of the most beautifully shot things I’ve ever seen

Andrew Lynch

Brilliantly shot and written. But so sad. 😭 I hope Gemma and Mark get reunited as themselves and escape. Also Devon remains a goated sister.

Elle B.

they ain’t making those shots

Sissy Six

The Xmas room was called Allentown which is on marks crystal head cube… WHAT ARE THESE ROOMS and how does the refining work relate? THE SHADOW MDR CREW with mark, helly, dylan and Irving look-a-likes and wtf is their role in all this??? How long ago did lumon target Gemma and mark and how did they get Gemma to begin with?? Ahh too many thoughts and emotions after this one. I bet next episode will be an all cobel episode too.

Sissy Six

Listen, if you guys are gonna chuck empty bottles across the room in these videos, it's absolutely imperative that you also show whether it went into the bin you're aiming at. I NEED TO KNOW IF YOU MADE THE SHOT

C2-H5-OH

I could type out a novel on this episode alone but I’ll try to summarize lol. Obviously very sad and heavy but also so incredibly gorgeous.. like truly an accomplishment this episode. I was kind of hoping Gemma would be evil or like we would find out she was involved with lumon in a bad way so I could remain comfortably on team mark and helly and then they do this to me?! Also soooooo many new questions. Like information overload….
