2025-03-04 09:44:01 +0000 UTCafter ep 1: yeah i dont get it either, seems like they just dont like doc seismic (his design) so to see him come back really strong, with a plan hes been creating for months, and not get mopped up by a freshly trained Mark just triggered them. I really like that evil characters in this show arent all just throw away chumps that never come back up in a meaningful way and i liked seeing mark training but not just suddenly flying thru every enemy that shows up like omni man could/would. And then the rest of the episode seems pretty important and pivotal for marks maturity and psyche going forward for what looks like a major conflict point for this season (being the philosophy of what mark thinks is morally just and right vs what ceicil/others think)

Cecil went way too far in this episode and absolutely treated Mark horribly lol that's not even up to debate.

He also gets to go home at the end of the day and live his life. Sinclair is presumably kept in a prison cell when he's not working on making soldiers that defend the planet (the show doesn't really give that bit of context. If Sinclair is walking free, then Mark might be more justified. But he's as clueless as the audience so his reasoning would still be wrong). Acting like Mark is being treated horribly is crazy. Mark straight up left the planet to go help a random insect species across the galaxy, leaving humanity in danger...and Cecil just passively complained about it. He didn't "bring down a hammer" lmao. He's never truly punished Mark for anything.

You can see how Mark wouldnt be very happy being treated the same way and being basically a prisoner to Cecil. Cecil just kept Darkwing II and Sinclair in prison, they'd probably all have died to Seismic's scheme lol. It's not like Darkwing II or Sinclair can just freely do whatever they want either; they still have to follow Cecil's orders. Mark has this very black-and-white, childish view of crime and punishment.

The show is pretty inconsistent to how durable and strong Mark is. I guess it's just the shows way to lengthen the action.

Mark breaks into the pentagon, threatens Cecil multiple times, demands that he stops...utilizing the talents of criminals...who are still actively in prison? For some reason? I'm still at a loss for what Mark's issue with this is. Then he starts destroying the reanimen when they try to stop him from attacking Cecil, and then just outright starts threatening Cecil's life. Its not like the reanimen are a moral issue. They're donated corpse robots. They're gross, sure, but the bodies were given consensually and are basically just a framework for a robot. And they are INCREDIBLY effective. They are easily a more powerful force then Mark is at this moment, and they are far more expendable since they aren't actually alive and can be mass produced/replaced. I can kind of understand that he doesn't trust Darkwing, but for god sake Darkwing just saved his life and the ENTIRE WORLD. Mark got low-diffed by Doc Seismic and they ONLY survived because of Darkwing and the Reanimen showing up.

He neutralized the threat and left it to Cecil to imprison Sinclair and instead Cecil let him continue to make his weird robots

However, the comics and show are kinda their own things. They are about 80% the same when it comes to the content but they're structured way differently. Omniman killing the Guardians in episode 1 doesn't occur until issue #8; and the guardians don't even put up a good fight in the comics. They've moved plot points around so it's a little refreshing to see what they changed for better (Rex and giving Titan a family) and for worse (season 1 Amber).
