When I watch any intimacy scene with my partner, I also feel awkward. However, my feelings don't make or break intimacy scenes. I can still recognize & appreciate how some are tastefully done. Like here, Mark & Helly's scene was done beautifully. Sex in general is natural so I get it. It could be a me thing, because I deeply immerse myself in stories. I either see myself in characters or I'm actually in the setting with them.

Does the spirit/soul reside in your mind or is it something else. Like is existence some crazy fever dream. It's completely understandable for me to understand how Helly felt. Helly has feelings for Mark and for Helena to use her own body against her is diabolical. They're two people but share the same mind/existence, but how can they be so totally different? That's the big question this show poses and makes you really think. Also I think when Mark was talking about smelling things and losing motor functions he was having a stroke. Stroke victims often talk about smelling strange smells etc. Reghabi also warned that he could hemorrhage from the procedure.

2025-02-21 22:48:38 +0000 UTCsee but youre missing the main point of that, when they were free to go around in s1 it was because cobel WANTED them to roam around while she was actively watching virtually the entire time. here miss huang was just told to essentially cover milchick's (ie cobel in this instance) job. but she has no clue what they were doing and doesnt until THEY go to her and tell her about marks nose. they're two pretty different situations (also the whole "theres no cameras or micrphones" bit was most likely only a thing because they had a living camera an mic in there with them)

So he's severed in and out of Lumon, meaning his only self is the severed self. To me it felt no different than hearing someone say they slept with your body while you were alseep. It's a betrayal, yes, but also violating. The way she reacted when he tried to take her hand after telling her, I felt that. So ultimately, by choosing to sleep with him as herself, Helly took control of what happened and made it her own. As far as Dylan and his wife, she told innie Dylan that she thought outie Dylan was unhappy, but I actually think she's the one who's unhappy with her actual husband. Milchik simplifying his big words wasn't funny until I saw you guys react to it, lmfao For Mark's reintegration, I think there's no "better way" to do this because the severance was made to be irreversible, so it makes sense for it to be so difficult. My hope is that Irving was also undergoing something similar, which would explain why innie Irving was seeing black paint on walls in season 1, and why he looked like he had assimilated the soldier mind of his outie on the day he figured out the truth about Helly. All I've understood from the throuple dinner conversation is that Kier has church people in the palm of their hands (because two separate souls, really?) and that they've probably been active since Kier Eagan (so more than 20 years ago). They just let the world know about it 12 years ago. I think Burt invited Irving on purpose so the Frolic dude could sneak into Irving's place and while Frolic dude found stuff on Irving. I was worried about them having the upper hand over Irving until the husband let it slip that Burt was at Lumon 20 years ago. It gives Irving something new to research.

There is no confusion or deception between Mark and Helly in that moment, they are both consenting to the act. But this is why the severance procedure is something to really examine ethically, because like you said… what about Helena’s consciousness and consent? It’s the same body, so would the law protect the body or the consciousness in this case? Personally, for me, this is why I would be against the severance procedure (among other reasons) if it was real because instances like these.

Mark thought he was consenting to have sex with Helly R. at the retreat, but it was actually Helena. This would fall under SA, because Helena was hiding behind a false identity to deceive Mark and have sex with him. (Which is why he was understandably so standoffish to Helly when she came back) And Helly was also violated because of what you just stated. It seems as though both Mark and Helly have moved past this, at least for now. But It would interesting to think about how a case like this would be prosecuted in a court of law, should they take any sort of legal action. It makes for an interesting look at consent, power dynamics, identity, bodily autonomy etc.
