First of all, thats not how the game works. Clearly you missed the part where all games have clearly defined rules that must be followed. The rules of the game is that it is tag and that's the way you have to play. Additionally, since your mister smart man, I'll be a little harsh here and say your idea is stupid. You want all players to be in one spot where all it takes is the girl, who is clearly very good at athletics and parkour, to manage to hit just one person and then they will be shocked, giving a gap for her to get in and tag every other play. Not to mention most of these players are random scared citizens who acted like p****ys just running around but you expect them to never get tagged in 16 turns by flawlessly grouping together and getting beat up by 4 other athletic people since violence is allowed? Yes lets gamble all of our lives clumping up on the idea that this group of p****s can act like spartans for 16 rounds. LMAO

And I know Alice in Borderland does have some flaws. I mean no show is completely perfect. Haha But I tend to overlook them and instead focus on the deeper meanings/messages being presented. Because, there's so much more to the show hidden within the lines that makes AIB truly special. I really love all the deep metaphors, symbolism, and strong meanings behind everything. The emotions evoked from all the characters feel real and raw to me and how they all connect with each other and protect one another. I know that sounds corny. But really my favorite part about this show is how it questions humanity and causes people to reveal their true colors when faced with unbelievable and life-threatening odds. Then, it brings back those constant questions such as "Will you live for yourself or choose to live for others." "What do you hold true to your heart and what do you value most?" It puts you on a constant pedestal. Everyone's will to fight no matter how tired and scared they are, they stand for what they believe in. It's so inspiring and beautiful. Plus, the lore, theme, and games are complex and unique. They all serve their own purpose. Hope this makes sense. Sorry I kind of rambled a lot. Eeek. Lol I just wanted to join in with the convo. @WHY There are so many things I find problems with in your post and your thinking in general, the way you reach your conclusions based on your own imagination, with no basis in the actual show, where you add so many explanations to character actions and circumstances to fit your own perspective, which clearly shows you live this show in your head and not in the events actually being portrayed. @Mysterious Figure - I think you’ve got to understand that IQ and EQ are different things. First of all although Arisu is smart, he’s never established as that smart. Secondly, he has always got many weaknesses which have nothing to do with his IQ; he’s never established as having a strong mentality even from season 1, and that will affect the decisions he makes. We’ve already seen Arisu suffering from a mental breakdown after losing his friends in ep3 of season 1; and because of that, he’s not as observant as he should be in ep4 of season 1 when he should have noticed the GOAL on the bus. Ep1 of season 1 showcases Arisu’s cleverness but that’s because he has already possessed knowledge of cars and geometrics (as shown by the books on the bookshelf), it’s not like he’s smart in everything. He’s smart but he’s never established as a “really” smart character since season 1 (at least not as smart as Chishiya or even Ann) especially combined with his often mental breakdown and weaknesses. Arisu’s strength is not even wits but his empathy for people and relationship building with others and understanding others’s emotions etc. That said, in the Queen of Spades game, Arisu still came up with a plan and used some tactics there (combined with Usagi’s convincing speech) to win the game with him being the bait to attract and corner/ group all the red team players together at one spot right before the final round started so that the red teams could all get tagged at once in the final round (as opposed to the blue team chasing them one by one). That’s the clever decision he made in this particular game. It’s not something stupid. (I didn’t want to talk about this at this stage to avoid SPOILERS but now you’ve made me to because you constantly challenged this point (that the character’s not smart anymore as established) with illustration from only the first half of the game without illustration of the second half/conclusion of the game which the Geks haven’t seen yet. You just keep making arguments on things that the Geks and other people watching along haven’t seen yet, and that’s extremely disrespectful.) I didn’t just ignore the examples you listed for no reason. The lists you made are all scenes from episode 7 which are already SPOILERS, and as many people commented already in the previous episode video, this is very inconsiderate for the Geks and other people watching along for the first time here. And you’re now insisting on me responding to it and making it an even longer spoilers to discuss on episode 7? How inconsiderate and disrespectful you’re to the other viewers here! And didn’t I already made the response above that I didn’t disagree everything on the list? I said it already I love the design/ the choreography of the actions of it, and they are my and many people’s favourites to see people’s reactions to it because of the sequence and choreography. In terms of logics and reasoning and stuff, it would come down to the games and I’ve also said that other games are my favourites, not this one. I never talked about the decisions the characters make about what to go for in terms of fighting to say that episode is one of my favourite. I made the point that it’s the sequence and choreography that’s my favourites in terms of reaction videos. Plus, with the final reveal and borderland concept you can’t really blame everything being stupid when it’s not even real. Even though the final reveal is not about dreams, take dreams as a similar example, does the decisions you make and actions you take in your dreams/mind always makes sense and logical? lol with the 16v4 thing, talking in terms of maths here instead of taking into account the world they’re in and the fact that 1) all 16 people are weak, 2) they are strangers who didn’t know each other and have no obligations to help each others, 3) they didn’t put up their minds to discuss a strategy before the game and have no time to discuss later and then team up later, and 4) the Queen is a fighter (the actress they found specifically for this character even knows martial arts in real life, just to show how strong they want to portray this character). Again, when you admit you’re also just making assumptions, you unreasonably make a conclusion that my conclusion (in fact just an analysis) from my explanation doesn’t logically proceed. What’s your logic here? lol I don’t find it insulting I just laugh at these comments where you enjoy throwing these kinds of words to people and then tell people to buy gun, take pills, ponder on it if they find insulting. What you and other people similarly did in your head with the 16 vs 4 example were examples that were statistically wildly NOT in favor of what you were claiming. No amount of accidental and contextual circumstances you were shoehorning will change the fact that anyone can shoehorn other circumstances in favor of the opposite outcome, except with 16 more people that have statistically higher chance of success. With the 16v 4 thing which you regarded as “silly” argument with no respect, there’re literally other people agreeing by liking my comment and another person sharing similar thoughts as mine commenting down below with more or less the same argument. Again, what makes you think it’s silly doesn’t make it silly or invalid in other people’s eyes. I’m not here to use my precious time to argue with you who couldn’t see things from different angles or perspectives. But just to put things straight and clarify a few things here: 1) I didn’t just focus on things like the fireworks etc as the context clues to praise the show. I liked that part of the show because of the action choreography and sequence which many people do also based on the review and youtube comments or discussions everywhere. We are talking about/ focusing on totally different things here. With the so-called “overwhelming” and “obsessive” amount of posts I made on the show, I’ve already made enough points about the different aspects of the show which worth the credits and recognition by the audience. BTW I only made a fair amount of standalone comments on each episode; the other ones are really just friendly replies to and interactions with others. Some aren’t even about the show but just general conversation lol 2) It’s only in this post that started this thread that you expressly emphasised that you still enjoyed the show. You try to put all my comments under the same umbrella of subjective opinion and NOT objective fact, while you havent mentioned a single example. You’ve made some accusations/allegations here about people based on your own assumptions. You’ve accused me on the previous occasion of letting pass all the imperfections of the show, but the truth is I did in several occasions acknowledge the problems of the show, e.g. the cringe acting of some of the side characters, the weird inclusion of the face to face conversation between Hatter and Arisu, and several other stuffs. But to me, those problems do not invalidate or take down the good things I appreciate about the show or which I think should be given more credits for. There are equally things you stand for and criticisms you made of the show or arguments you made against others which aren’t necessarily valid, at least not as valid in my/other viewers’ eyes (as shown by many other commenters here). You personally thinking that something is flaw or imperfection doesn’t necessarily make it or prove that something’s indeed/in fact flaw or imperfection because it could just be the case that you didn’t see the flip side of it or you have a different perspective/way of thinking. What I’m trying to say is your own personal opinion, as free as you could have, doesn’t necessarily make it a fact or truth. And I say this because you’ve on previous occasions argued some things about the show are “factually” idiotic/bad when it really is just your personal opinion, which others can agree or disagree with. As you said previously, if even the majority of people thinking something’s true doesn’t necessarily make it true (which I agree), then your own single personal opinion (whether it represents the majority or minority) also doesn’t necessarily make it true. There’s no problem with you being direct in pointing out the imperfections of the show provided they’re “valid”. But to be fair, what makes something valid couldn’t even be defined by you or me or anyone else. They’re all just opinions and different perspectives. @Anya - its refreshing to see someone here actually does see SOME problems in this show. I have said many times that I have enjoyed the show DESPITE me being critical of some of its parts. What always surprises me and is somewhat annoying is how people tend to be one sided when discussing their enjoyment of fictional media here, as if taking a stance that something they love cant have any faults will make it completely insufficient (which is a stance I do not hold). We can accept imperfection in almost everything, as we are the same, but we still manage to find love in one another despite. I guess written form without the context of being present to see the person you're talking to, also has its drawbacks. I am usually down to the point and dont really try to soften my language, and that can tend to feel harsh to other people, which is arguably something I can accept being criticized for. So, your approach and way of thinking is something I really appreciate. Thank you.

I personally don't like the Q♠️ game. That's why I said I get what you mean. I would've just rushed them while we had the upper hand. But it's easy to say that when I'm not in their shoes. That's why I wrote a long comment trying to understand how each player felt under the circumstances. Emotions dominated logic this episode. I wanted to hear what you think because I like reading your Severance comments. There are some things I do agree with you on this show. I think it all falls down to the media adaptation. By not matching the medium, the show has some incredulous moments. Aguni didn't even punch a tiger in the manga😭😭 So some choices they made are soo cool but questionable lol Some can't see past the incredulous moments and that's okay. It's not for everyone. As much as I love the show I prefer the manga.

You really think clumping together is enough to guard your back? It's not that hard to get your hand around someone honestly, especially if you're ok with using violence. Clumping together makes them easy prey imo, running would be the best option. If clumping together was the best option, it would have been a clubs game not a spades.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to clump together (even IQ wise) especially when all the players are very weak, both mentally and physically without enough food and sleep at that point. The Queen could easily use force/violence (as we’ve seen it already) so she could easily take anyone down and tag them all at once in one go. Plus they have already explained this at the beginning - if they had stayed all together instead of spreading out, they would all easily get tagged in one round. And once it comes to the player’s round, they would want to run to get the other team members back. But I would say maybe it’s a better idea to come back to the kid or the same spot/base to get tagged back instead of keep running and going for the other 4 so that they could at least have 16 in their team, but to do this there has to be some kind of consensus/agreement amongst the players at the very beginning or at least a strategy discussed before the game even started. Once the game started with no breaks in between each round, the fight/flight kicks in and it would be hard for the players to think or communicate properly.

The Q♠️ game is Netflix exclusive. I can't offer any manga insight, but I understand what you mean. At this point we know face card leaders are former players. Surviving past games and becoming the Q♠️? She has reached the pinnacle of the Borderlands! She's going to have more confidence and fight than players who are still trying to survive and are probably traumatized. She also has that fear factor because everyone knows she survived the Borderlands. Yes, it would've been smart to team up, but self-preservation always take lead. No one is thinking clearly with fight/flight kicking in. In addition, their all strangers to each other, so they won't be trusting. Who knows how they've survived this far? Human nature can be ugly. Arisu hasn't been the same after losing people and has just found Usagi. He hasn't had time to cope and he's just not mentally all there. Oh and yes, the K♠️ has been hunting down anybody who's not involved in games. They're all probably sleep deprived and paranoid. They also showed us how food is scarce so they'll probably be starving as well. That's why some want to stay here just to get away from the K♠️. That doesn't solve the big issue, but at this point it'll be a respite from being hunted down like an animal.

Even an average IQ level person might say, hey guys, lets just clump together with our bodies to protect our backs, just stay in one spot with our backs to the wall, we dont have to run around, we can conserve our energy. Let them come to us and lets just see them try and get our backs with just 4 of them vs the 16 of us! In what world would 4 people be able to win vs those odds? Id like to see a smart person exist in this show in season 2 still and suggest a sensible strategy in this game VS the Queen. We had an established character like that in season 1 - he was called Arisu. I wonder what happened to his IQ and where that smart guy went. There's this thing about writing consistency yadayada... I know, not something too many people find important. Lets just have more guns, action scenes, explosions and GAMES right, thats fun? Not to mention him standing around with his shotgun waiting for a few seconds for the guy shooting at them to get up from the floor... I almost forgot that amazing detail. That SOLD IT!

Carter brings up that he knows season 2 ends where the manga ends. We don't really know if season 3 will be completely new stuff or it could adapt one of the two spin offs. One of the spin offs is more of a short sequel called "Alice in Borderlands: Retry". I wonder what route they'll take. Also Arisu/Usagi/Chota/Karube are 17 in the manga. So bow girl would be the same age as Arisu and her hitting on him is slightly less wrong.

It shows the cruel reality of human greed, trying to survive when you're at your lowest but also helps to open your eyes too and see the bigger picture. I would try to be there for my friends and family but it would be hard. It's just so brutal but teaches you valuable life lessons like you said. Although I think they might have indeed started off with only a few players in the first round so she might actually have kept all the players, there does exists the possibility that the Queen might have only kept four players she wanted leaving out the weak ones, and going forward, as she builds up her team with enough strong members, she might not keep all the players around and might just get rid of the weak ones. But then, I think if it’s not for saving the kid, short of being physically hurt or got rid of by the Queen, it might be a good strategy to stay in the game for a while until the King of Spades is eventually taken out, then figure a way out to survive the Queen, though again the problem is the Queen started off strong with only 4 players on her side she’s already confident in her crew to face off 16 players so it might be difficult to survive the Queen later as her team becomes larger.

Without spoilers, I think manga ends well in terms of concluding the story, so does season 2. I was surprised that there is a season 3. But let them cook, everyone is excited. I think Arisu is in his early to mid 20s, he was looking for a job. Akane is high-schooler, so maybe 18-19. She might have been used to attention from men, so she is trying to get it this way from Arisu (whish is sa yes), as Aguni is older and is not interested. Also Arisu and others don't look wow, cause they are dirty and actors have makeup to make them look tired, wounded and exhausted overall. But the actor who plays Arisu is actually a Japanese Heartthrob, like I kinda get why all girls like him.

I like how the actor Kento Yamasaki once in an interview said Arisu’s a gamer who never in his life held a real gun before, so he and the show on purpose portrayed Arisu as a complete newbie in the scene of him fighting against the King of Spades. It’s refreshing and more realistic to see this honest perspective on things where the main character isn’t a superhero but just a normal person who learns his way to fight and stay strong stay alive day after day.

The archery girl is a cool character. But shout out to Carter who first pointed out that the girl’s sexually assaulting Arisu cuz a woman or even a girl doing it is equally not acceptable as a man doing it (just like what Niragi did to Usagi).

The problem (or the catch) with the Queen of Spades game is even if you get to survive, you have to play the game over and over again and keep winning. It’s actually in a way similar to the life sentence in the Jack of Hearts game. You won’t ever get out of the game or even the arena until the Queen loses. You’ll be in that game forever unless you switch team and win. So it makes you rethink whether you want to stay in the Queen’s team.

This show is cruel, brutal and diabolical at times (not only showing the injuries and death but also the fact that they include a child in this world of games is just crazy), but it’s also so good at the same time cuz it delivers very meaningful messages and life lessons. It’s starting to explore more of its main themes now: 1) The purpose of living (with Arisu saying as long as he’s alive, he just want to live; now contrast that to ep3 where he didn’t know the purpose of living after the King of Clubs game; further contrast that to Aguni who originally has no purpose to live except to kill the King of Spades because of his guilt of killing all those people at the beach but now as McKay said, he has something to live for and that’s the archery girl); 2) Living life to the fullest (with Usagi’s conversation with her dad and the kid being the motivation to push Usagi more to wanting to go back to the original world); 3) Never give up (with Kuina’s monologue); 4) The meaning of fighting in this world and the need to have a strong will to live and survive (with the archery girl’s backstory - it’s double meaning there that she didn’t only just lose her leg but also another precious part of herself, hence she needs to live to pay herself back); 5) Human nature again: Whether you’re willing to go all the way to save a kid or rather sacrifice the kid to save your own life (on the surface it’s a spade game but it’s turned into a heart game challenging your sense of righteousness cuz of the existence of the kid in the game); and 6) Human relationships: Brig’s made a great point there - even though Arisu’s not good at physical games, he still went into the game regardless just to find Usagi and see if Usagi’s there.
