I think you really have to watch this show twice to understand how deep the characters in Mob Psycho are. Not just Shigeo, but even the supporting characters around him all develop beautifully by the end of the series. You obviously pick up on most of it in the 1st watch through but the 2nd binge really made me love the show even more. I am just here for fun :)

Mob Psycho gets intricate in its own way just by interweaving a lot of great drama and turmoil between the cast. Lots more crazy characters to come. And the animation gets ridiculous from here on out. I can’t wait for the second and third seasons 🥰

It was probably good for their relationship that that was finally said, because it was basically implied that their relationship from Ritsu’s side of things was the walking on eggshells type after what happened when Mob exploded the first time.

2025-01-31 04:55:20 +0000 UTCThe style we see in this episode is just incredible to me. It's so fluid, expressive, and gives the animators a lot more room and opportunities to make creative choices. It's also mostly hand-drawn (I'm probably wrong here, but I’m pretty sure the whole series is all hand-drawn aside from some background stuff), which I really respect because it's difficult, time-consuming, and requires a lot of talent and skill. Demon Slayer has obviously gorgeous animation as well, where you can take pretty much any frame from a fight and turn it into a wallpaper. (btw, watch the Fate series; it's done by the same studio, Ufotable.) I don’t want to argue over which is better or worse, since it feels a bit pointless and silly. It's kind of like comparing apples to oranges. Both are difficult in their own ways and represent the peak of their respective styles, each with its own pros and cons. At the end of the day, similar to what Brig said, it’s all art, and art is subjective.

Loved it the whole way through from the brother interactions, and how mob handled it, and to the fighting. I’m being reminded how much this show has positively impacted the way I approach intense emotions and emotional situations.

Mob lets the animators go off model so they can take the posing to some insane places, and they focus on how movement makes you feel rather than tracking all the details. In comparison again, Demon Slayer is much more strict so the action will always be contained by model and you're not really going to be surprised by a drawing. Avatar was really good at fluidity too.

It has insane impact frames, perspective and dynamic timing - and I think one factor that puts it way above Demon Slayer is the storyboarding, aka the shot choices themselves. Whereas DS and other animes usually depict the fight in a pretty standard way - "1. over the shoulder running 2. wide shot 3. sword clash etc." I think Mob consistently makes super creative and innovative shot choices that give it much stronger artistic direction. I think you'll especially see what I mean come Season 2!
