This show might just have one of my favorite dystopian themes that revolves around the workplace, especially as someone who believes that the “work/life balance” is so difficult to attain, and especially here in the U.S. with unregulated corporations (not to get too radical lol)

Personally I haven’t seen Ted Lasso but it is the most talked about as far as I know. But Ted Lasso also gets more push to the public. I think Severance with this season will probably become much more popular if they can stick the landing. The show SEE on appletv is really good with a good concept.

2025-01-25 08:22:31 +0000 UTCI wrote a whole ass explanation but clicked the wrong button and deleted it, so sorry if this is brief and vague cuz im not rewriting that lol BUUUT Simply put, if someone is dead, and is cloned or brought back to life the theory is they have to have the things that make them an individual re-entered into the subject/clone/whatever. If this is true then the 4 tempers Woe, Frolic, Dread, and Malice are subgroups that equate to what makes a person an individual and what memories and emotions they uniquely elicit. They are essentially refining a blank slates mind. This is given evidence by the fact that Mark did his last refining all in a day and the episode flash cut ended with the reveal that he is refining his wife. Perhaps he was able to do it so swiftly because no one knows his wife like him or his subconscious.

According to the legend, her uncle Hades (God of Underworld) abducts her from her mom and keeps her there as a hostage. Her mom cries over her and because her mom is basically a Goddess of Warmth, earth and fertility long winter starts, nothing is growing. She is stressed and can’t keep the earth fruitful. That’s how long winter starts, everything freezes up. And then they negotiate with Hades and he lets Persephone leave some parts of the year, but she has to spend 1/3 of the year with him in underworld. That 1/3 is winter months we have. 1/3 of your year or 1/3 of your day, sounds a lot like spending 8/24 hours in the office. Also underworld? Severance floor is under main floor. Also, 9 principles of Kier = 9 levels of hell? 4 severed employees and 4 tempers of Kier.

Apple may have solid products and TV shows (I fully agree), but as this show itself is criticizing, people hate exploitative monopolies & labor corporations, which Apple easily identifies as. I've known most lay people to use apple products against their will, with only a few tech professionals who swear by it's work standard quality.

It's interesting that they didn't show Milchick talking to Helly R about anything before she came back, when she was the most risky insubordinate. I think the intro is meant to be relevant to this season, not necessarily some kind of improvement upon the last. Maybe they're trying to use Mark's mind to bring Kier, and others, back. Maybe they brought Gemma back. I also think Cobel might have a really sympathetic backstory, or is on some kind of rogue side quest, and isn't one of the antagonists at all. 🤷🏾♀️

Good theories have been shared here. - The intro was insane, so good! - I really hope the writers/produceres have all the story figured out so they can give it the right amount of eps and a great ending like Dark had. 2025-01-24 07:16:52 +0000 UTCLest we forget that Mark has a crystal head cube on his desk. “That’s not a perk, that’s just something they gave him.” It’s hard to hear because Irving starts dozing/hallucinating during the explanation but… in season 1 Dylan explains to Helly that the files they refine are on a time limit and only last for so long. Mark had a “freshman fluke” and holds the record for fastest file refined and Lumon basically changed the process based around whatever Mark did, so now they can finish the files faster on average. Mark may be a prodigy or has some unique skill as a refiner that’s different from Dylan’s intellect that led to his numerous earned perks. So in addition to Mark’s connection with Gemma/Ms. Casey, they need him the most in MDR it seems.

2025-01-24 07:07:21 +0000 UTCAdding on to @jblakk's amazing prediction/theory: So, "Cold Harbor" is basically some sort of test/prototype for the "resurrection" or "rebirth" of an individual, and Mark is important because he is the closest person to Gemma and has the most knowledge about her. They use his subconscious to pull/extract memories of her. This is why the numbers rely on your emotions to be categorized. I'm guessing each member of MDR represents a different concept, such as emotion, sin, or something along those lines. Maybe they also plan to make it a product, mainly targeting the elites of their society, and market it as a way to make them seemingly immortal. It seems like this is the first time they are doing something like this, or at the very least, Mark and Gemma have had the most success with it, making Mark very important to this "project." This might sound crazy, but it could also explain why they want to make everyone severed, so they can extract their memories or souls and import them into dead bodies, turning those bodies into husks of their former selves, essentially making them slaves and continuing the process.

In season 1 we see that if Mark wants to call in sick he has to contact Milkshake. Also remember outtie-Dylan let him in his house to ask innie-Dylan questions using the OTC.
