Not the mention the best sequences has not even happened yet so I am not expecting them to go off with animation with these early short fights. It is too early to be disappointed imo. Especially when the animation is definitely better that good lol.

Berserk, vagabond, opm, csm part 1 all have incredible art like or if not better than sakadays and none of them are "by far" better than each other. Also, I think the anime style rly is just personal prefernce cause this art style is great imo obviously it could always be better tho

It would have been also fine if they got animated by 2007 FMAB studio! The animation style and perspective is what feels eerie. For example, I don’t think ufotable would animate this show well either

2025-01-19 04:58:45 +0000 UTCThis show gives me Gintama vibes, especially with the premise of an OP main protagonist that chooses to live a regular life, but cool characters/enemies are drawn towards him. i feel like it'll have a lot of gag tropes but will definitely have arcs that are serious and peak just like gintama, hoping for the best (from a non-manga reader) but so far its been pretty good all things considered

It is really hard to describe why it’s dissatisfying unless you have read the manga. Imagine if Demon Slayer or JJK suddenly got animated like OPM S2. It’s not bad, but you are left desiring A LOT.

A lot of the humour in anime (like obvious tropes and things just go right over their head) just doesn’t mesh with them. Gintoki is the boss man but don’t know how well it would be received by them if they’re not familiar with Japanese comedy

The reason I'm not sure they will get the humor is because in some anime reactions there are times when they misinterpret or don't fully understand the 'read between the lines' context. If that makes sense 😅 BUT I get what you're saying! They do have to watch Bleach first though!! The 'big three' and DBZ are parodied too much hahaha 😂 I think Gintama might really spoil Bleach for them hahaha

If that makes sense…😅 and I feel like if they can watch a show like severance who isn’t that widely popular, then it wouldn’t be that odd for them to react to gintama.

Potentialy ruining their experience with the show. 1. Personally I wouldn't recommend Gintama to new anime watchers. It is now one of my favorite animes and in my heart Gintoki is my husbando 😛, but it took me 2 tries to get into it. The first time I watched it I found it funny at times, but couldn't understand everything and all the parodies/references. Also, I was still into animes with the typical shounen formula so I had no patience to wait for the story arcs. A LOT of random episodes in the beginning (and in between). My second watch was some time after and immediately fell in love. By that time I had consumed more anime outside of the shounen genre and learned more about japanese culture. 2. Maybe it's not the best show for a reaction channel? Definitely in their own time though. I paused a lot to look up the references, but also when I was dying of laughter so I wouldn't miss anything😆. Shout out to the fan subbed episodes back in the day by the way. They always had these footnotes or explained the references at the very beginning/end of the episode. I feel old now 😩

Honestly, I can't lie and say I wasn’t expecting it to be amazing, so I am a little disappointed. I also hoped for a better soundtrack, something with a similar vibe to Samurai Champloo. But overall, the anime is still pretty good. The humor reminds me a lot of Mob Psycho or One Punch Man for some reason, which I very much love.

I enjoy the show, because many things remind me of Gintama. I can however understand people having a different experience with the first 2 episodes when they perhaps expected something like JJK/Kaijuu 8/DDD because of all the hype.
