I appreciate everyone suggesting things they themselves love, that they may never see in their life, if it increases the chances even slightly that they might. But if they keep this on long enough, they'd probably have to get to some of these eventually, years down the line. Societally, if we all have to hunker down again or there are writing strikes, variety might need to widen. I'm optimistic (and enthusiastic) about possibilities, while cautious about probabilities. 😄

Also, becuase of this, they must speak respectfully to them which is why instead of their names they generally call eachother ‘hyung’(younger man to older man) ‘noona’(younger man to older woman) ‘unnie’(younger woman to older woman) and ‘oppa’(younger woman to older man.) this said, these terms are generally only used when the speakers are close to eachother/familiar!

They’re simply not popular enough and plenty devastating and probably better to watch alone without a camera rolling. They’re definitely aiming more for popular blockbusters like Hunger Games, Marvel Universe, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Avatar, Dark Knight, Back to the Future, POTC, Alien, Planet of the Apes, John Wick…ect Maybe we’ll even get Disney and Pixar movies.

But I have to admit, 3 Body Problem is really good. ( The book trilogy is also fantastic, highly recommend to everyone)

I guess I was a fairly fast reader back then. But now I usually opt for manhwa, manga, and webtoons. I love the beautiful art and unique stories. However, I might look into Midnight Sun sometime. I do remember Stephenie Meyer books being quite long. They were indeed a chunker lol 😆

I know the people picked to compete are ones whove hit absolute rock bottom, but the games exploit everyones desire to live, not to die. Thats also why they return to play the games despite the risk of death. Theyre not looking to die playing some childrens games, they are looking to improve their lives on the outside. Thats why we constantly see their fear of death in these games & them begging for their lives, whether they wanted to continue the games or not.

Yeah you're right the books give more vivid detail and highlights certain events. Whereas in the movies, they leave out so many pivotal scenes from the books which of course changes the entire tone of the movie. I never finished Breaking Dawn. I got lazy and was too eager to watch it. Aww I was always Team Edward since I have a soft spot for vampires but Jacob was cute and I liked how he was there for Bella when she was going through a rough patch. 😭

He's not this stone cold front man. He even reacted when Thanos talked about kids. I'm interested in his character change before & after entering the game. When he accidentally drops the facade are the moments I'm talking about. Good or bad. There's some truth to his deception & that's how you can keep up a lie.

"If we continue playing then after the next game WE will get x amount of money". There is no "we" & there is no "us" sharing a large sum of money. Its not like the games are designed to kill off the people who wanna go home. They are simply designed to kill. There is also no getting the full 45.6 billion without only a single survivor making it through. I am wondering how long it will take the game supporters to realise that their main enemies in these games are not the people wanting to go home.

I know SG is trying to mirror the society and it’s more realistic, which I appreciate. But other than that, I think AIB is on a whole different level in terms of the games, the scenes, the plot twists, the life lessons and the theme it brings out.

The fact that the players in SG are either poor or in debt are not relatable to some people whereas in AIb the characters are more diverse with different occupations and ideologies. How they play the games or behave in AIB and different players’ or even the game masters’ attitude also reflects human nature, ethics and moral values too, it’s just that they’re presented in a much different way in AIB.

2025-01-06 07:12:27 +0000 UTCFor movies: -Fantastic Beasts trilogy (as a sort of prologue to Harry Potter, since you guys watched The Hobbit with LOTR as well) -The Substance (it's a really great horror film from this year) -Saltburn (go in blind, this one is great and reaction channels do well with it) -Dune 1 and 2 -Godzilla Minus One and Shin Godzilla -On that note, Shin Ultraman and Shin Kamen Rider are both good as well (All three of the Shin movies are by Hideaki Anno who did Neon Genesis Evangelion) -The Raid and The Raid 2 (Amazing fight choreography since I know you guys love them hand to hand fight scenes -Saw -Nosferatu (when it's out of course) -Chronicle (amazing lesser known superhero movie, a unique take) -The Green Knight -Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (this is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, you guys will have a great time) -Predator, Predator 2, Prey -Alien -Any of the classic monster movies like Dracula, Frankenstein, The Invisible Man,etc though you could react to these on your down time and have them ready for next Halloween) -Scary Movie -District 9 (great realistic sci fi film) -Blade Runner -The Lost Boys (great vampire film) -The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit (the old animated films, they're kind of funny but charming in their own way) Thanks for the great reactions guys, I'd have never discovered tons of series like DARK without you guys there for the ride!

2025-01-06 03:45:15 +0000 UTCkinda sad these things are not translated well in the subtitles/dubs because it adds more context to the relationships between the characters. for example, daeho calls jungbae 'hyungnim' which is similar to hyung/older brother but more respectful, acknowledging the large age gap between them. youngmi calling hyunju 'unnie'/older sister which means that she respects hyunju's desire to live as a woman.

Or mayhaps he had too much pride to take ilnams money outright so ilnam tricked him into joining the games. Theres plenty of ways to work around it. THAT BEING SAID, Alex makes a good point about the kidney thing as do you about the school lunch thing. Hadnt considered that. All i know is the milk thing has to have relevance and if not the kidney thing its for sure a call back to the ilnam thing. The show is pretty good at not wasting dialogue like that. Even if the call back is minor.

BUTTTTT, I think front man is Il nams son. Last season il nam said he had a son who didnt drink milk and this season front man gives his milk to the pregnant girl saying he cant have milk. Additionally, we learn this season that the cop and frontman are STEP brothers which is a random fact to insert into the story unless its relevant. I really think the final twist for frontman is that il nam was his dad and thats why he is in charge of the games now.

Not only are they gambling with their own lives but the lives of everyone else involved. Like the guy with the mom wanted to continue playing even though the risk of dying increases, especially for the mother, after every round. And like you said with the proving the truth, they really hammer that point in this season by giving them the choice to leave or to continue after each game, bringing out their true nature.

2025-01-06 01:18:53 +0000 UTCjust so you guys know (because i heard some of you calling hyun-ju 'unnie' lmao) there are some words that just don't translate well from korean to english, so they just write them according to the korean pronunciation. so, basically - 'hyung' = 'older brother' (a guy would say this to an older guy) 'unnie' = 'older sister' (a girl would say this to an older girl) 'oppa' = 'older brother' (a girl would say this to an older guy) 'noona' = 'older sister' (a guy would say this to an older girl) that's why thanos told the guys to call se-mi (player 380) 'noona' because she said she was born in 1996, and why se-mi told min-su (player 125) to not call her 'noona' because she lied about her age and is actually younger than him. it's also why young-mi (player 95) calling hyun-ju (player 120) 'unnie' is so sweet, because it means that she's acknowledging hyun-ju as an 'older sister'.

He only lands it once he uses his left hand. You can also notice him smile a little bit when he was making his teammates panic. Don't let his handsome face fool you 😭... The slapping himself in the face was so extra tho lol drama queen much.... Also I think the workers would save him too. Notice they made their team go last on purpose. The two signs we get that confirms this is that he gives a sinister smile when he bends down to pick up the top. The Frontman is left handed, the failed throws were all with his right hand. His successful throw is with his left and he was alluded to be left handed in season 1 with the way he sets the phone in his office. Frontman probably wanted to make sure Gihun didn't pass this game too easily.
