.Haikyu. 4x23

Jack was still gone for the holidays so we didnt finish the rest of the season since we wanted him to be here for the end of the season!

Comments

it says the last 2 eps are locked!, I'm new to patreon so could you tell why that is? Will it get unlocked at some point?

Alizah Jaseem

@Loulix I completely agree with everything you said. Haikyuu is truly the best of the best. It has NOT budged from my no. 1 spot since I watched it HAHA

Moon

Man, I missed this episode when I came out because of reasons. 😭 But like, 'Shinrai' is my favorite OST of almost all time. I have to listen to it at least once a day or when I'm feeling down. And then this moment too? Of Kageyama being who he is meant to be as a volleyball player? And Tanaka pushing past his limits in return? Can't get over, lives rent free in my head.

botanbutton

we will get the last two episodes of S4 today!

Mariacake

Battle of the garbage dump will be next week! (According to their announcement) Hopefully we get the last two episodes today 🥺

Mariacake

😣

farkzzy

season finale today pretty bittersweet

kai

patiently waiting.....

Devanshi

Wheres Haikyuuu 😭😭😭

Patriicia

guys im nervous, will they drop haikyuu today @_@

bearuber

PLS DROP IT NOWWWW IM ON MY LUNCH BREAK 😭🫶

lola

Exactly! I get it when you said that it might be a lot to digest at first watch. Haha. Admittedly, I didn't really notice the depth of some concepts in the story when I first watched Haikyu (added the fact that I'm also not an athletic person! 😅) Still, it became my most favorite anime and since I've rewatched it for so many times already, I began to understand eventually. Ahhh, Haikyu is just that show/story that gets better and better with each rewatch!! 💗

Loulix

😭

Mariacake

Ahh it’s almost over 😭

Mariacake

Haikyu day! I'm excited, but also sad. I don't want it to be over!

Jenny D

It’s so over this week🤧

Nash

I'm not ready to let go of Haikyuu 😭

Ale

@Loulix Ahhh thank you so much! It's a lot to digest tbh, especially as a first time watcher, but since I'm not, sharing these pieces of important but often overlooked or shallowly explored elements is the least I can do as a fan haha! I'm glad I managed my comment managed to resonate with your thoughts about the matter! I hope so too! You're very welcome Loulix<3

Moon

Congratulations, Brig! ✨

Loulix

You wrote this so well!! I've been wondering if all really understood the depth of the concept of Kageyama being a goody-two shoes and how it was gradually and beautifully overcome in season 4. But I'm afraid I'm not that eloquent enough to explain and write about it. Then I read your comment! This is so good! 💗 You explained it so well. I hope others read this too and gain greater appreciation and awe towards Haikyu and its story. ✨ Thank you, Moon!

Loulix

Im going insane waiting for the final 2 lmao. Are they dropping today or tomorrow?

Marlon

Y'all, I'm not ready to be done

Teaq

The ball must cross between the antennae and the imaginary extended vertical lines upward to be considered in bounds as it crosses over.

rac coun

Thank you 🤧❤️

Nash

bro exams at the start of january?? im sick for you, but good luck to you 🫶🏼

Clover

Exams starting on Thursday and yall finishing Haikyuu on the same day… literally the worst week. I’m SICK

Nash

One of our last haikyuu days..... 💔

Let’s all hope and pray Haikyu has a season 5 so we can all come back for more reactions😕

I actually originally joined the geks patreon purely for Haikyuu, its so sad the end is coming😭😭

bebe

Lit 💔 when or it it ever gets animated, it'll so over for me

Rosemary💮

@Can't touch this Stone JHBHQBJHB Well, I aim to please the detail-hungry fans HAHAHAHA

Moon

Hinata is my fav anime character. His attitude and character are inspiring for me too. I wish I was more like him. And ‘baby sunshine’ … pretty accurate description. Plus love it when Kenma talks about Shoyoitis later on in the next match. lol

TT1000

I bought more than just the CDs. This is my favourite anime. And the one that got me back into watching it.

TT1000

oh wow u even bought the CDs!! i listen to the songs on a daily basis too hehe 🤝🏼 our baby sunshine really be shining rays of fire on the team 🤣 they’re all a lil crazy bc of him now

Clover

My heart just reading that line right now 💔

Neko

And yes all the Karasuno team members are insane! Hinata has infected them all. And probably Bokuto for Tanaka.

TT1000

I bought the CD’s just for those tracks. They live in my playlists! When I need a boost if I’m working on a project or exercising.

TT1000

@TT1000 omg i really love those as well!! haikyuu really cooked with their soundtrack for sure

Clover

I know I’m equally looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time lol. For me that is a Top3 scene not just in Haikyuu but in sports manga as a whole. That line in that situation is BRUTAL.

Karina

Bruh I’ll not be okay once they animate that scene

Nash

Not telling the storyline because I don’t want to spoil potential manga readers (or maybe it WILL get animated one day lol), but the line is: ‘This is still volleyball.’

Karina

My two favourites are Moonrise from season 2. And Monsters from season 4. But to be fair Haikyuu has the best OSTs period. Some of them are EPIC! Like Outbreak of War.

TT1000

I’m so sad this is coming to an end.😭

TT1000

Damn... I just read a three page thesis on the three setting goats.

Can’t touch this Stone

Thank you Brig -Haikyu Rats

Hannah S

OIKAWA CAMEO!!!!! my goat.... i love that you experienced it kind of the same way the fandom did in real time 😭

bella

omg which storyline?? im so curious now

bella

Ryoiki tenkai 💀💀 imagine lmaooo just a never ending volleyball court with Kageyama sitting on his throne like Sukuna

Fatipapi

Its so crazyyy 😂😂 knowing they will win but still getting way too nervous over the sheer tension 😭 even im still nervous while having seen this multiple times lmaooo

Fatipapi

You can spike from the backline, but not by crossing the line, thats what I mean.

Albin Limani

Ah, only two episodes plus a movie to watch. It’s been such a journey. Wish more was animated too, one manga-only storyline has one of the most profound sentences I have read in any manga, it was such a BA-BAMM moment when that chapter came out. I try to live by it when I need to contextualize certain situations and events.

Karina

Petition for Jack solo travel reaction to this episode!!

Heather

DADDY TOORUUUUU

༒ dianna ༒

helppp the boys just experienced the oikawa ear freakout, true oikawa stans farming for crumbs

crissoopshii

uh oh, now I'm confused again. 😂 What about the synchro attack? Does that not count as spiking from the back line? Damn, am I goanna need to get a rule book? 😅 Not to make you have to explain it all. I appreciate it though!

Neko

I think we should get Jack's reaction to this ep 🙂‍↕️

Mia Malvik

No front back does matter a lot, because backline can not spike if they go on the frontline during the play. The setter can not dump if he is on the backline and so on. But, the fixed positions only matter before the serve. If someone is in the wrong position before the serve is made, then they lose the point completely.

Albin Limani

Soon today

Studio Geck

Not even a question Daichi by every mile there is

Studio Geck

Thanks a lot. So front back doesn't even matter really either (beyond the libero). The spots are only fixed at the serve. Which makes sense actually and partially explains why there is only one MB needed on the court at a time.

Neko

Thank you

Juan Avila

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cft1WkFCMrM This is my favorite video analysis about this topic if anyone wants to watch it. I think it explains what Furudate is trying to say very well.

Süm

@Nash I certainly hope so too! I would get it if they didn't have the time tho! But I'm happy that I managed to enlighten y'all on some of the finer details that people often miss hehe

Moon

Normally, while Hinata is serving, Tsukishima would be on the left with the 2 other frontliners on his right. The moment the ball is served, Tsukishima moves to the middle, the outside hitter moves to the left and then Kageyama or Daichi(can't remember which one is in front in this rotation) would go the the right. This happens in every rotation. The positions are fixed until the ball is served, then everyone can move wherever they want with a few exceptions like not being able to spike from the frontline while you are in the backline and things like that.

Albin Limani

@Nash we’ll be yapping through our bittersweet tears for sure

Clover

ah yes of course its Mia, the one with impeccable taste 😎

Clover

I asked this on another comment, but it seems that at least two of you here know VB rules pretty well 😃, so: When a MB is on the front line, are they always in the middle, or rather, are the places in the front/back lines flexible as long as the players are in the correct rotation of front/back? In this last scene where Tsukki is serving, Hinata is in the middle. If it were a perfect rotation shouldn't he have been on the left?

Neko

I just loveee Kita’s speech

Where One piece?????

Jin

Memememe! That was me!👋🏼👋🏼

Mia Malvik

Well personally I consider the mindset of giving everything you have to be a genius trait.

Albin Limani

I think what Furudate meant was what happened between them both in season 1? Bc Oikawa even says in s1 episode 24 that Kageyama is always evolving and he might lose to him someday. But in S2, we see his conversation with a mysterious coach who asks Oikawa whether he found the limits of his abilities and tells him that instead of giving up and despairing about him not being a genius, he should BELIEVE that this is NOT his limit even if the path he has to follow is tough. And then his speech about blooming talent even at the age of 30. When he pulled off that crazy set outside of the court, that’s when he let go of his old mindset and let his talent bloom. Showing to us viewers that you can be a genius if you give your best.

Nash

@Clover when they release the last two episodes I won’t be able to stfu 😩

Nash

Question for Carter. Who’d you choose between Daichi and Kita 👀

Nash

I don't think they contradict each-other necessarily. The way Oikawa vs Kageyama is portrayed is really realistic. Kageyama is a genius but he is also hard-working, but Oikawa is shown to be even more hard-working and still Kageyama will surpass him, no matter how hard he works because of his innate talent. Same here. Kita never says that Miya is not innately talented, he just says that it is insulting to think that only talent made him this good. The best example from real life I can give are Ronaldo and Messi. Both are insanely talented people, but Ronaldo is more a hard-worker while Messi is more innately talented. Still does not take away from both being absolute geniuses.

Albin Limani

I feel like it is a parallel to Oikawa's "Today might be the day let your talent bloom..." speech, too. It happens almost the same way. In the Seijoh match, Kageyama makes a setter dump, and one of Seijoh's bench players says something like, "I would like some of that," referring to Kageyama's talent and Oikawa gives his speech. In this match again, a bench player is like, "I wish I had talent too," after seeing Kageyama and Atsumu play, and then Kita gives his genius speech. Kita and Oikawa are kinda similar captains to me. They are very different personality-wise but both know their teammates very well and can easily control them. It is just the way they do it is very different.

Süm

@Nash i recently just finished another reread of the manga, absolute masterpiece, like that whole thing is my safe space. and also im waiting for your yap era 🤣 dont be shy ~~~

Clover

@Ale yea!! it wouldve had much more impact and made more sense if they included it

Clover

@Clover. Ikrrr😭 this is why I always reread the manga bc it’s sooo good. Also I really feel you about spamming comments. I have a lot to say too but I’m too embarrassed to be a yapper 🫣

Nash

I really hope the geks read your comments in every post bc they’re so informative and I’ve also learnt a lot of things from your comments haha.

Nash

I feel like if his thoughts would have made to the anime, I wouldn't have been confused as to why he said what he says at the end of the match to Hinata on my first watch. I'm not that good with reading between lines and I thought I missed something, but I ended up discovering it was the anime lines were not as clear lol

Ale

That Kita "rant" is so good 🤧 There is an interview with Furudate were they explain that they were not fond of the way the concept of "genius vs non genius" was portraited at the beginning with Kageyama and Oikawa, so they decide to change it with Kita, so Kita here is speaking what the author really thinks about this topic.

Ale

Thank you, it’s my birthday today and one of those eps are one of my favs, thanks for the present studio gek 🙏

Juan Avila

W Brig! Congrats on the wedding, wish you the best :)

Ayaulym🇰🇿

Today

Studio Geck

@Clover HJBSHBWJH thank you so much!! Literally gonna cry rn you're too kind😭 When I first read a comment highlighting all the differences btw the three main setters we see in Haikyuu so far, I was so floored by the amount of detail that Furudate put into their characters. I just HAD to retain the information and share it at an opportune time. I'm just glad that I could do it here, in this wholesome community HAHA!<3

Moon

The way he turned his whole body to look at Cannon and McKay had me in tears 😭😭😭 and let’s not forget how Cannon looks like he’s about to throw up lmfao. Bro was literally tweaking 🤣

Nash

Okay, since this is one drop only, i will watch it next week with the remaining. It deserves to be watched all in. ❤️🎉

Bingsu

@Juan Avila I hope so, after all it's the day for Shippuden. They will just post two reactions that day, like they did last time

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

@Nash omg yes that!! why didn’t the anime put it in 😭😭

Clover

Congrats Brig on your wedding! 🥳

El

Moon don’t ever apologise for your essays, they’re always on point and im always amazed at how much thought you put into them 🫶🏼 you really described each of our 3 setters (Oikawa, Atsumu and Kags) perfectly, it is reminding me why i love each of them for different reasons, they may all have the same “setter” title, but furudate really did such a good job highlighting their different approaches and attitudes towards setting

Clover

They should’ve put Atsumu’s thoughts at the end. In the manga he said “it doesn’t matter if it’s short or if it’s low. He doesn’t care if it’s too close to the net either. If his setter gave his all putting that ball up… he’ll take it everytime. I think I’m actually moved shoyo-kun”. This is literally what Atsumu expects from his spikers. Give it their all because he gives his 100% too and that’s what Hinata does every single time. Such a peak episode 😭

Nash

Hinata can't be in when Tsukishima is in they are middle blockers unless one of them is serving they can both be in

Cryptcat

Carter’s expressions are so meme worthy sometimes 🤣

Clover

ALSO I SWEAR THIS IS MY LAST COMMENT bro where is everyone, i feel like im spamming comments at once, all alone 😢 i really love the touch of furudate showcasing more of atsumu’s volleyball iq and game sense in this ep!! We already know his play and techniques are up there, but the way he understood exactly how asahi operates with his serve (the percentage thingy) and him picking up on Kags changes in his setting, wondering where the goody two shoes went. And also him feeling touched by Hinata’s enthusiasm to get another toss from Kags. Bro is understanding the players he’s playing against for the first time, picking up on many things and performing at such a high level at the same time. This man is truly unreal, I really appreciate him sm

Clover

I’m an OST gurlie, so i wont stop yapping about it, i rmb someone in the comments was saying their fav was “Birth of the Serene King” which is basically the title of this episode AND the name of that ost playing at the end of the episode when Kags was asking Hinata to complain and Tanaka was saying it’s not only the enemy that can push you past your limit. I love me some Kags development and him really embracing his King title throughout the whole ep is just so meaningful cause poor baby was traumatised and hung up on it for SO SO LONG 😩😭 Mini side note, doesn’t this OST kinda sound like it could belong in AOT hahah, some parts really reminded me of an AOT track.

Clover

@Clover AS HE SHOULD

Moon

BACK TO BACK PEAK EPS FROM LAST DROP here comes my fav ost from haikyuu!! made it into my spotify wrapped top 5 hehe. It’s called “Threat of Trust” which really explains Kageyama’s look at Tanaka when he sets the ball, as if saying “look at this toss I gave you, you’ll definitely be able to make it right?” I cannot emphasise how epic this whole Tanaka-Kags sequence is, considering they both pulled this shit at MATCH POINT. Kags trusting Tanaka with that ball with his beautiful toss and Tanaka (with his goat mental strength) choosing to make that INCREDIBLY CLOSE AND SHARP LINE SHOT. They are both INSANE 🤯

Clover

THE ULTIMATE GOAT INDEED

Clover

at this point it HAS to be a joke, i hope…

Clover

we all thirsty hoes for oikawa and theres nothing wrong with that at all 🤓

Clover

Congrats Brig on your wedding and a very big W to you 🥳 3 husbands on the couch now huh

Clover

“I can never predict this show” so true 😂😂😂

Nash

Kags fr said “I ate and devoured” with that 🙏🏼 pose

Clover

@Nash Thank youuuu I'm so glad you read that long ass essay JBHJQB

Moon

Read both of your comments. Sooo good😮‍💨

Nash

@Mariacake AHAHAH Thank you! It does seem like that a little, but I'm glad I could give you a new perspective haha!

Moon

Ohh! This one is good. I actually thought that Kageyama was just communicating to Tanaka like how Tanaka does at times. Remember that time they played against the team full of punks and Tanaka would do 🙏🏻 and bow to Kageyama to say thanks for tossing. I thought it was kind of like that 😅

Mariacake

W Wedding Brig 🎊🍾🎂👩‍❤️‍👨

Mariacake

I was waiting for them to see that part bec they’ve been missing Oikawa 🥹

Mariacake

Here's more details that I couldn't fit into my previous comment LMFAO: Kageyama putting his palms together in what could be seen as a "prayer" is pretty much a callback to what Osamu said at the end of the last episode. His analogy about Hinata playing volleyball like Osamu eats his food is further extended to Kageyama, who is just as much of a volleyball fanatic as Hinata. In Japan, people usually make the same palm to palm hand gesture before they eat (you can see Karasuno doing it at the end of season 1, when Coach Ukai treated them to food after they lost to Aoba Johsai), which is an expression of gratitude for a meal they're about to eat. In this case, it can be seen as Kageyama expressing his gratefulness for being able to play in this game, just like he said in the last episode "I'm glad I came here too", when he witnessed Atsumu pull off a stupid crazy set. And ofc, how could we ever forget Kita's iconic monologue about geniuses. This is why Kita is so loved by everyone in the fandom. He acts as Furudate's voice. His speech in this episode is probably smth that Furudate wanted to let his audience know as well. That it's not that the geniuses are geniuses from the very beginning. No matter what they're like now, there was a time that Atsumu, Hinata and Kageyama were all struggling with volleyball. Hell, Hinata is STILL struggling to be good at it despite all his improvements. I think this every time I watch this episode or a reaction of it. Kita is one of the most well articulated characters in Haikyuu. His steady, consistent truths of not just volleyball, but the world, resonate with so many ordinary people, and it's crazy how much emotion his speech makes me feel. He's not just referring to the genius he knows on his team(Atsumu), but also Kageyama, Hinata and any other crazy good player who's considered a genius. This is what makes Haikyuu so compelling, emotional, and worth the watch. It's always the little things that build up a fantastic story. The care that went into creating Haikyuu is seen all over the place, in every single episode, and I love Furudate for that. The ending of this episode leaves so much unexplained tbh. Kageyama tells Hinata to complain about how bad that set was. And we see a flashback to season 2's training camp when Kageyama hesitated to give him the falling set that he was still working on back then because he was afraid unconsciously that Hinata would feel dejected after missing their new quick so many times. If y'all rmb, Hinata got SO MAD at how he changed the set to smth easier to hit (somewhere btw episode 8-10), and this moment is referenced here. Kageyama wanted Hinata to complain because he knew he didn't get him the ball like he should have or had always done. But Hinata says "Complain? Why?" because he never had anyone set to him until he joined Karasuno. His gratefulness for even HAVING a set come his way from a setter is smth that has been emphasised on since season 1 episode 3, when Kageyama first set to him while they were practicing to get into the club. His smiling expression and the music playing in the background while he says "Gimme the next one, too!" always ALWAYS give me the chills. It's so pure and happy and he just loves playing volleyball so much. I sometimes envy how much he loves the game. After that, Tanaka says that he thought Kageyama didn't have anything to fear anymore, not being shunned, not winning or losing, not having anyone to hit his sets, etc. But like he says, the opponent isn't the only one who can push him beyond his limits. With Hinata around, Kageyama's limits are ALWAYS being tested, and judging from his smirk, he doesn't think that's a bad thing at all. Atsumu saying "I'm moved, Shoyo-kun." when he hears Hinata's words is basically him being touched that a spiker could ever be so grateful and happy about receiving sets. For someone like Atsumu, who not everyone likes, being told "Gimme the next one too, I don't care even if you mess up a bit, cause I'm infinitely thankful that I get to have you set to me in the first place." would probably make him incredibly proud of himself, and to think that Kageyama got to hear such devotion and joy from someone so genuine (it probably made him a little envious of Kageyama too HAHA).

Moon

"This is so random" Well yes, but actually no HAHA. Putting Oikawa into the episode at that very moment was very much intentional on Furudate's part. Atsumu bringing up "Where'd that Goody-Two-Shoes from before go?" after Tanaka made the spike was a direct reference to before Kageyama came back from the All-Japan National Youth camp. Back then, I didn't explain too much since episode 8-9 did sort of address what Atsumu meant by that, but now, with Oikawa in the scene, things are a little more complicated. Looking at all three of the setters' setting philosophies, one can say that Kageyama, while possibly the most talented of the three, was a subpar version of Oikawa, who he has been trying to emulate and treats as somewhat of a role model when it comes to HOW he sets. Back when Kageyama was traumatised in middle school by his teammates shunning his sets, he took to heart that harsh lesson and tried to overcompensate for his previous lack of care towards his spikers' needs. His setting from season 1-4 BEFORE the practice match with Dateko in season 4 was very much a "I am afraid of being rejected if I make any more demands of my spikers, so instead of being an egoistic tyrant like I was in middle school, I'll be the complete opposite and try to do what Oikawa-san does." but in the process, Kageyama has been using his immense talent to make up for his spikers' weaknesses or vices. Like Tsukki, who could technically jump much higher, but didn't because he didn't need to go all out all the time to get the ball over, unlike Hinata(referencing his comment about "Hinata always does this?" in this episode), so he settled for giving 80% effort. This is what Atsumu was talking about when he said Kageyama was a "Goody-Two-Shoes". He's too passive about setting, because he covers his spikers' mistakes, weaknesses and lack of contribution with his overwhelming skills and talent. But that is NOT what Oikawa or Atsumu are doing. Oikawa, while not a genius per se, is still a unique setter with skills to match. His ability to pull out 100% of his spikers' potential is something that Kageyama thought he couldn't do because of their differences in personality. Oikawa observes, analyses and TALKS with his teammates about their weaknesses/what they're doing wrong/could do better and corrects them. This is part of why he's so good at setting. He LEARNS about each of his teammates habits, makes them adjust to better ones, and THEN uses his top-notch skills to draw out their full potential on the court. Oikawa's setting philosophy is basically "You like to do this and this, but because it's not working or could work better, do THIS instead. Then I'll give you the best kind of set you'd need, and we'll nail this point together as I bring out the best in your skills." On the other hand, Atsumu's setting philosophy contrasts against pre-Dateko match Kageyama's. His is an aggressive but no less dedicated "I put in a shit ton of effort to make this set easy for you to hit every single time, so you'd better put in the same amount of effort into hitting it, otherwise, I'll get offended because if I'm putting in a 110% for us to win this game, why aren't you?" So when Atsumu sees Kageyama being so passive about his setting, he feels like he's a Goody-Two-Shoes, because he can't be open about what he wants from his spikers, and is essentially a pushover disguised as a genius who can do everything for his spikers. Now, the new Kageyama, who has learnt how to make demands from his spikers, WITHOUT being an asshole about it, is in the best form he's been so far. He's not refusing to voice what he wants, and he also apologises if he makes a mistake. But in this episode, we see that he says "But is this Tanaka-san's best weapon?" followed by "No, that isn't for me to decide. I need to give my spikers options!" Here, his setting philosophy is morphing and slowly turning into Oikawa's. Kageyama didn't used to think about what his spikers NEEDED, he gave them what they WANTED. But in doing so, he unintentionally limits what they COULD BE doing, because no one asks to be stretched to their limits like that. By setting the ball so that his spiker has more options, he is drawing out Tanaka's full potential as a player by giving him his trust as a setter and forcing him to make decisions on his own without any input from the setter. When we see Oikawa appear on screen, he gets irritated by the point that Tanaka scored. Why? Because, he saw what Kageyama did. And what he did was as close as he's ever come to properly emulating Oikawa's own setting philosophy, something that no one thought would ever happen. But Kageyama managed to do it, so Oikawa is mad that he's improved yet again, but he's also smiling when he goes back to his run (implying that he's not JUST angry about this development). This is why that one short scene of Oikawa is so impactful. It's more than just "Hey, here's season 1 and 2's ultimate boss, he's still a resentful, petty prick who can't get over his junior's talent being far greater than his." No, it's more than that. It's a juxtaposition of him and Kageyama, and also a converging point that shows how each of the three setters I mentioned have differing play styles, differing mindsets, and different executions, but are all still considered amazing players. I would say sorry for this essay but I'm not because it's the one thing that's been on my mind ever since season 4 started. I think this is such an important thing to know as a fan, and I'm so glad I can finally share it here!! That said, I can't wait for the next episodes!! They're about to be crazy epic.

The thing is, in order to bring him back, the squad has to lose points, to initiate rotations 😂😭

the ost in this episode is just too good

I think the kick is supposed to kind of show how familiar Hinata has got with the ball. He is so much better and knowing where it will be and when it will be

khalxeesi

I love how they all got so excited to see Oikawa. I love being a haikyut rat. Congrats Brig!!! W brig

Sandi

All in favour of Jack having to do a Haikyuu diving drill punishment for missing the reaction say Aye!! XD Just kidding! I'm glad we're waiting to have Jack back for the season finale :)

Alex

Technically hinata and tsuki can be in at the same time, if one of them is serving. After Karasuno loses a point the server can no longer serve and subs out for noya(liberos can’t serve). But yeah they’ll never be in the same row together. For the gek boys; when players rotate into the back court , only the middle blockers swap out for the libero. Player line ups are positioned where there is a middle in the front court and a middle in the back court(switched out for libero), so there is always a middle upfront no matter no matter the rotation that happens.

Marcus

If it’s your ball and it flew over to the opponents side of the net, outside of the net attenas you can run over there to send it back as long as it stays outside of the net antennas while coming back and you don’t ever step into your opponent’s court. But when it comes to attacking/sending it over to the other team, the ball must go through in the space in between of the two antennas. Hitting/passing outside of these antennas will continue the ball being in your possession and will result in an opponents point if it hits the ground. So Tanaka can’t spike around the net for a point. The 2 antennae(tall red/white sticks) are situated on and sticking out above both of the far ends of the net.

Marcus

Atsumu wasn't mad at that. He was just super surprised!

Nrock23

Oikawaaa 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Hem-ehem

They’re almost done with the show and they still don’t know how rotations work 😩 hope that they’re just trolling atp lmfao

Nash

You can't hit the ball around the net. The ball has to go in the part of the net between the antennas. You can set the ball from outside the net though, which is what Oikawa sets to Iwaizumi. And, Hinata can not just go in. He is a middle-blocker, so as soon as he gets in the backline and goes through his serve, Nishinoya goes in for him, until the rotation brings him back to the frontline. Hinata and Tsukishima will never be in the game at the same time.

Albin Limani

Lmao this is what I’m planning to do after they react to the movie

Nash

Couldn’t believe my ears fr 🤣

Nash

Asahi haters been real quiet this ep huh (looking at you cannon 👁️👁️) Also Carter looking at Cannon🤣🤣🤣

Nash

That Oikawa scene gets me everytime bc he was literally trending worldwide just for few seconds appearance.

Nash

I’m sad that our Haikyu journey with the Geks is almost over 🥹

Christine

How do you know they are prerecorded?

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

no one is crying miss girl its a genuine frustration that we're allowed to have lmfao

peachy af

W Brig

Who knows

don't cry

FURsona

Bruh I remember. Almost everyone had Oikawa as their pfp too and ppl were buying blue earphones lmfaaooooo

Nash

lol i always miss hinata when he’s not on court too 😭 i know the rotations but im like omggg bring him back!!!

An

After they were still confused at the end of s3 about the tournaments when I dropped a comment explaining it on like every ep of s2 I just gave up…..

M2GZ

It’s honestly infuriating seeing them mess things up that have been explained to them EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. If you are not going to read what the community says then stop asking them to explain things to you. This is the third to last episode and I think I’ve seen this comment on every haikyuu post since s1.

M2GZ

ahh, what a freaking show man. i love this episode so much kageyama mf tobio is my GOAT talk about clutch athlete, holy f 😮‍💨 (honestly this rewatch, hinata has caught up and it keeps me up at night i literally can’t decide they’re both just everything to me) ALSO let’s not forget that tanaka’s swing was on match point as well.. back to the wall, game on the line, and the closer fucking CLOSED this episode was just too good, i was so locked in to the actual show at a point that i kinda forgot i was watching w y’all 😭 then i looked up and y’all were just as locked in and i was like wow, what a moment, what a match, what a show. people have their opinions but to me, this match has the best volleyball in the series and it’s kinda not even close. 10/10 reaction 10/10 ep thank you gek and congrats brig!! NEXT WEEK IM SO SAD BUT IM SOOO READY 🥹

alexis ♡︎

Ws for Brig and Ls for Jack all around

peachy af

W Brig, congratz!

hugoruix

everytime the ball passes over the net it has to be btwn the antennas. so like in tanaka’s scene, the sliver of space he had was created by the left antenna and the blocker to tanaka’s right bc he can’t hit it wide, (or to his left of) the antenna. if the ball even touches the antenna, it’s considered out

alexis ♡︎

no joke

Colin Boehling

Ohmygod cannon called asahi clutch what is this development?!?!

peachy af

HA like brother you maaade him

alexis ♡︎

yea i wonder if they watch any pro volleyball, because some things that might seem unrealistic on the show actually do happen irl. a lot of volleyball players have even said that haikyu is pretty realistic

An

The way Cannon and Carter were eyeing each other 😂

Mariacake

so glad other people remember this, oikawa's ear trending just from the preview was actually insane

emmy

It looks like they might not have advanced recorded episodes for One Piece. I was hoping they weren't waiting for Jack since they posted Severance yesterday, but it looks like that might be the case 😭

Rayanh LaNansha

haha every episode

Nrock23

So are we Cannon

Rayanh LaNansha

Interesting nickname, I like it.

Rayanh LaNansha

IDK HOW MANY PEOPLE NEED TO SAY THIS BUT THERE IS A ROTATION IN VOLLEYBALL.... YOU CANTY JUST "PUT IN HINATA " LMAO

Colin Boehling

L jack

josayyc

"No one sits on the bench more than hinata" i hope they're being dense on purpose lmfao

peachy af

if you took a shot every time they asked why hinata wasnt on the court you'd be DEAD (why havent they learned)

peachy af

Haikyuu is about to end and these guys wont come to understand that Middle Blockers (Hinata and Tsukishima) dont play in the back row (usually). Stop asking a middle blocker in the back pls😭😭

Izaya

I can't tell if I fell for Atsumu during his childhood flashback scene from last upload or in this scene at the end, when he was moved by Hinata's response to Kageyama. The joy these guys find in their game is just superb. Hypes me up everytime. I even momentarily forgot to watch you guys react because I was so absorbed in the match 😅 W BRIG

Rayanh LaNansha

So when setters (usually) save them, they toss it outside the antennas otherwise if its in between them it is other teams point. Not very clear in the anime, but in real life games once it happens u can clearly see it

João Dias

VB rule: balls can be played around the net if they go outside the antennas and then the players cannot touch the net nor step into the opponents side court

João Dias

https://youtu.be/Wwo0sbLSqpQ?si=2IVh391DnIv4Bwgl At 1:50 & 2:59 They're similar to Hinata's save, but not quite lol

Bobbe

It was 2016 I think. That's when 3rd season came out. So yeah the fans were starved of Oikawa content lol

Süm

BLESSING HOLY SHI..

Colin Boehling

Yup unfortunately the pacing has been hit or miss in season 4 whereas in previous seasons insane plays were illustrated in such a way that didn't take you out of the story

bondbond53

ONFG back in 2020 i out oikawas ear as my pfp it was sooo fun back then LMAOO. Cuz it had been YEARS since we last saw him, wasn’t his last apperance like in 2017 or something? I cant remember the year

idk

I'm glad you guys are waiting for Jack to watch the final two. Are we getting the movie Thursday then? I forgot about Ashai's awesome serve. He's not in my top ten favorite characters, but he's definitely a strong player. Tanaka is such a great player. I am still reading the manga, but I'm wondering if Tanaka becomes the ace after Asahi graduates? I know Hinata wants to be Ace, but i feel like he's such a good decoy and even though he's gotten better he still needs to refine things. Maybe in his third year he could be Ace. Hoping the manga shows that. I love how Kageyama is proving Atsumu wrong about his goody two shoes comment. Have a good honeymoon Brig and congrats! W!

Jenny D

I’m so fucking weak right now😂😂

aikoTHEnerd

Haikyu does insane tension building! Probably better than most anime. It’s like you’re holding your breath, dying of stress until the climax of the scene and then you’re hyped af, pure elation. Also, W Brig! Congratulations! 🎉

Elle B.

JACK NEEDS TO HURRY UP AND BRING HIS ASS BACK ASAP!!!!!!!! Fuck four more days is crazy I’m literally going to go crazy lol but thank you guys for uploading and I hope y’all had a wonderful holidays / New Years. Canon, I feel you so hard on having anxiety watching the show. I watched it without thinking that they were gonna win so my anxiety level was through the roof. But you guys are so fucking amazing Brig W for you and congratulations. McKay shout out to you because you are the definition of character development you didn’t find interest in this show but I’m happy that you love it now.

MY GOAT EPISODE. MY GOAT TANAKA.

TheBookerDeWitt

It probably looks more realistic cause it happens "quicker" in the manga. The slow motion in the show makes it feel like they had more time to actively think to kick the ball up, whereas in the manga, it looks like his foot just so happened to be in the right place for him to kick it over when his hand missed lol

Bobbe

I guess I will go reread the manga for the 3rd time

Balzhan

I love haikyuu days! It was so wholesome, and I am so sad we're almost done with haikyuu🥺 I wish haikyuu was an endless anime. I would watch it even if it had one piece amount of episodes. We need the show to continue up until all the boys are old grandpas😂

Balzhan

That Kita rant is one of my favorite in Haikyu… those moments when they get super philosophical always gets me emotional and hyped 🥹

bondbond53

You'd be surprised how some unrealistic plays are very much a thing. That being said I think the manga did a better job at making it looks more realistic https://hot.planeptune.us/manga/Haikyu/0286-013.png https://hot.planeptune.us/manga/Haikyu/0286-014.png

bondbond53

Atsumu being mad at Kageyama because he is not a goody-two-shoes anymore is so funny considering the fact that it is literally his fault.

Süm

The Twitter explanation for the trend was literally "Haikyuu!! fans can barely contain their excitement after getting a teeny tiny sneak peek of Oikawa in a preview for next week's episode" It was hilarious

Süm

Lol I would hate it if I didn't like Oikawa but as an Oikawa fan I was having the time of my life reading all the tweets.

Süm

God i remember that, and i was in my weird "i dont like oikawa" phase when that happened too so i was just seething when i was on twt 😭😭 but ive grown now i promise

peachy af

That was sooo funny, I miss those times 🥹

Ale

I like that we get the final two episodes next week. can’t believe you’re almost done with the show I’M DEPRESSED

CC

Carter's reaction to Asahi's serve took me out 😂

Rae

Also, congrats on your marriage Brig!

Süm

"It's short but sweet" You guys don't know the effect of that Oikawa scene on the fandom lol. He trended worldwide on Twitter because of that scene when the episode came out and what is funnier is that he trended worldwide the previous week too because that shot of his ear was in the preview of ep 22. Hinata was trending because of his perfect receive and Oikawa was trending just because people saw his ear lol.

We're in the last stretch of haikyuu (for now, since i believe with all my heart we will get 50 more seasons) i'm so sad 💔

peachy af

BRIGADARIUS?

peachy af

About your final question (hitting the ball around the net). the volleyball nets have a little red and white stripped pole on both ends (u can see it in the reflection of tanakas eyes as he hits the line shot) and u have to hit it on the inside of that pole. so hitting around the net would be illegal, sadly assuming i understood ur question correctly 😭

I actually like that you guys are reacting to just this one episode. That way the next one will finish the season. Also. So excited to see you guys love mob psycho. It’s so good. IMO it’s better than One Punch Man (they’re created by the same person).
