GoT is so goated, whether you think the ending is the worst thing ever or just dissapointing(I think it gets a bit overhated) those first 6 seasons are some of if not the best show ever made. Can't take it out of S because the last season was bad. Something like Erased or FMA might be way less flawed than GoT or HxH, but they arent touching them for me. High peaks>smooth sailing and that's a fact

If you only are a show watcher, it’s like S1-4 are peak, 5-7 are pretty decent, and then 8 is bad. After you read the books you start to realize that seasons 5-7 were actually already pretty terrible in lots of ways.

I agree. My cousins and I were obsessed with GOT like we didn’t stfu about it. We made so many theories and all but that ending pissed me off so much that I don’t even talk about it anymore. Sure, I rewatched it a couple of times with my friends but every time something peak happened I was like it didn’t matter anyway. What happened to Daenerys, Tyrion, Varys and Littlefinger was disgusting.

I agree with Jack on GOT. Endings are important. You guys put Death Note lower and Code Geass higher for it’s ending and it makes sense. Because endings give value to everything that happened before. Got ending is so diabolical it’s almost unrewachable. As a person who watched it couple of times, each time my perception pf later seasons got worse and worse. Especially knowing what happens in the books. Tyrion’s character development is dead after he kills Tywin. By season 6 characters turn into caricatures of themselves. If I could only watch GoT on repeat for the rest of my life I would a billion percent be fine watching 7&8 for 1-6. Cannon's GoT crashout was justified imo. I dislike many aspects of the second half of the show and even the first four seasons have certain issues, but it's one of one. If Dan and Dave could've just adapted George's writing properly and involved him more, we wouldn't have had the issues we did. The same goes for HotD, although characters like Viserys were improvements over George's work.

I understand the fall off of Game of Thrones, but it is hands down my favorite live action show ever, and I don't see that changing for years to come--maybe unless we get a source accurate Witcher series. For anime, Hunter x Hunter is by far my favorite anime. I have never watched an anime that has the vibes that Hunter x Hunter does--it's just special to me, and Killua and Gon are my favorite anime duo. As for Attack on Titan, it was maybe the fifth anime I ever watched, and while it has a great story, I think I would put it in the bottom of my top ten most liked anime. Attack of Titan is amazing, but it is not special to me like it is to you--that can probably be attributed to it being your first ever anime. My top five anime: (1) Hunter x Hunter, (2) Frieren, (3) Vinland Saga, (4) Eighty Six, and (5) Naruto.

Just curious, have you watched/finished Haikyu? As someone who has AoT and Arcane on top of my rankings, Haikyu is also on my A+/A tier. Even though it’s “mundane” like what you said and not enough world-building, I still enjoyed it a lot. The tournaments and the matches itself are exciting. The character development pays out so well. For me, shows don’t always have to have complex stories just to be considered S or A tier. Slice of life shows are still great. It’s a breath of fresh air. Haikyu is one of my comfort shows cause it’s light and it feels good. A good escape from a stressful work or other stuff. If you’ve watched the entire show, I don’t know how you came up with it just simply slapping volleyballs. And no, it doesn’t have to have its own category. It deserves it spot with other shows.

Briggs hit the nail on the head. I've been trying to tell some reactors that for shows like One Piece and Naruto, you have to binge it to get the full experience. This is based on actual facts and evidence. Reactors that I see react to a batch of 7-8 episodes seem more invested and absorbed into the story without being distracted by the slow pacing. In comparison, reactors that do a batch of 2-3 take a while to get used to the pacing for every reaction. Worse case, if the episode doesn't build up fast enough, the reactors might be out of it for the whole reaction.

I would put sports anime in its own category because you already know what to expect if the world is grounded. The risks are much smaller and different than most of the stories in A+ tier trying to explore the imaginations and ambitions of higher peaks. Theres no suspense, worldbuilding or mystery compared to Arcane, AoT or GoT etc, its just volleyballs being slapped around for 4 seasons. Maybe if it became a murder mystery it would keep the genre interesting but its just a show about character growth in a mundane setting. But i understand some people value how much they just enjoyed the show with their time vs other factors but i would always know in the back of my mind its "just great for what it is". I could say the same for soccer or ping pong but thats what it will always be, nothing more, exciting in a world of mundane is different from exciting in a world of fiction. Like chernobyl or shogun they are great retellings of history but it can never be anything more.

It has the most interesting/complex written relationships because its a very grounded show so it didnt need to put more risks in adding supernatural or fantasy or sci-fi elements. Any grounded show boils down to character writing and if that fails the show fails. Fictional shows have so much higher risks because it still needs to make sense in the world with amazing writing and have more plot holes or random magical thing that may ruin the story.

Haikyu like they said, for what it is, there was no flaws and was very grounded in its genre but thats the issue for me, for what it is i would never put it above any fantastical, sci-fi, grand, ambitious pieces of fictional story telling in the A tier and above. Like with chernobyl, its a very good retelling of history but you could do that with any piece of history since theres no wiggle room for risks.

Like Carter have said, there's no flaw in Haikyu so far. It's a good written show. Great discussion on the shows all of you have watched. To me, there are great production quality shows and there are shows I personally like. The ones memorable to me are Mad Men ( I don't love it but it was memorable), Fringe, Farscape, Battle Star Galactica, Dexter, GoT, Breaking Bad to name a few. AoT is my top of that list. From just those few named, I don't remember Fringe, Farscape, Breaking Bad having any "low" parts/seasons. AoT, I would've liked a better ending but it's a top tier show. AoT no 1 for me for overall but no 1 well loved by me is Haikyu.

alright, essay incoming lol first, gonna start by saying i personally think cannon and brig are tied for my favorite lists. it helps that brig also has breaking bad but overall, their lists are my favorites. second, i didn’t watch everything on ur guys lists but out of the stuff i did tune into, here’s my tier lists in order… S Tier: vinland saga, game of thrones, hunter x hunter, attack on titan, breaking bad (brig included it so i am too lol) A+ Tier: jujutsu kaisen, the last of us, house of the dragon, one piece (so far) A Tier: squid game, death note, evangelion B Tier: chainsaw man C Tier: haikyuu a lot of these shows, i wouldn’t have watched if not for studio gek so i have you guys to thank for literally my top two favorite shows of all time (GOT&vinland). literally got thorfinn’s dagger tattooed on me last year and wouldn’t have if you guys didn’t choose to watch vinland lol. overall i think everyone has the last of us too low but im biased because ive played both games over ten times each and i also think everyone has chainsaw man too low but again im biased because ive read the entire manga (you guys will love season two). also, although i agree with carter and jack that the fall off of game of thrones needs to be studied and the ending is absolutely ABYSMAL, it is still my favorite show of all time LMFAO it’s 100% accurate to say its a goated show. the highest peaks of GOT are better than the highest peaks of ANY other show. season four specifically is THE greatest season of television of all time (objectively, might i add) and yes, the ending is just absolutely botched however, it just can’t take away from the peaks i fear! also personally, battle of the bastards is my favorite episode in television ever too. maybe i’m biased but even with the dookie ending, i just cant ever fathom putting it below S tier. just based on this video alone, you guys have fully persuaded me to watch arcane, dark, chernobyl, and avatar asap!! i’m so excited to see what 2025 holds for studio/cinema gek. you guys have already covered some of the goats so eventually when yall get around to shows like the sopranos, succession, and the walking dead and some more movie series’/ghibli movies, ILL BE HERE!! being a part of this community has been so exciting. i’ve loved being able to talk to all the patrons and even the geks about everyone’s opinions on what’s being watched and i’ve loved finding new shows through this channel. hope you guys have a merry christmas and happy new year!!

Carter I guarantee you One Piece gets so much better, one of the only shows that just keeps on getting better and better all the way trough, you've only seen one top 10 arc so far. One Piece is my number 3 show of all time only behind AOT and GoT and honestly it could be higher, definitely the show I'm most invested in out of everything. The anime has it flaws withs pacing and such but the manga is perfection.

And it has the most interesting/complex written relationship between two main characters I have ever seen. I get Brig's pain. I remember reading Vinland Saga manga before there was an anime. I was so hyped after every chapter and then so disappointed when it turned into farming simulator. Brig if you want a manga that's like Vinland Saga first season, but keeps being like season one, you should read Kingdom manga. In my opinion, it's better than Vinland. Don't watch Kingdom anime, they butchered it as much as Berserk.

imma die on this hill but i think the biggest part in why people think season 2 of arcane is a downgrade from season, is that people wanted it to be something very specific and no one was with that for season 1. everyone just appreciated whats good and didnt just focus on everything that wasnt to their liking. like this season every reaction ive seen all the negativ stuff is about people wanting it to be a certain way and if you watch the way people watched season 1 its completly diffrent. it was all about appreciating the art, whereas season 2 was just critique on everything that wasnt how "I" wanted it to be. imho its sad how people ruin their experience of the show because of that

I think a show like naruto and one piece is alot different when watching alone then together and breaking everything down, i think the setup of how you watch a show can be different for some people and that can make a show better or worse. I love dark for example but i am not the type of person who would watch a episode and think about it or talk about it with someone, watching it with you guys really moved it up my rankings. Definitely don't agree with Jack's take that the final season of GOT is the single worst thing he's watched lol. Like really? The production values, music, set design, CGI, etc. This is all peak. I fully agree with bruh and jack about Eva, I’d actaully put it into C tier. I really didn’t think it was that good the characters are super unlikeable, they don’t explain major plot points and it’s just super fake deep imo. Just very overated for me personally.
