It was known that she was delaying the final book for years because she was trying to decide to either have him die or let him live. So instead of actually making a real choice she went the easy way and did both... She also talked about how she always imagined him dying at the end, but got scared of the backlash clearly. I wish she would have stuck to her guns and let Harry stay dead, and let the others finish Voldemort, would have been a cool change.

His main body remains as powerful as ever until the end. 2. Snape didnt fight back when Voldemort decided to kill him because it all happened too quickly. As far as Snape was concerned, he expected to live till the end and even guide Harry in the end. He didnt expect any of the Elder wand stuff to happen. 3. Harry doesnt get a power-up in the end because thats not the way to defeat Voldemort. If it was a question of beating Voldy by power, Dumbledore wouldve done it. But Dumbledore realized that to defeat Voldemort you had to thread the needle by destroying all his horcruxes while keeping him distracted, which also includes Harry possibly dying along the way and someone else having to do it in the end. Harry was never going to become powerful enough to defeat Voldemort in a straight up duel, his only hope was to exploit all the different connections he had with Voldemort.

I'm going to suggest the Terrifier series although I know it's a stretch. My older brother walked out of the third movie when we went to see it. Martyrs is also a great movie if anyone else has seen it. Although it's one of the movies I would never rewatch (at least by myself).

I guess Brig, you need to discover the souls series - Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne... AND... Elden Ring. That's the order of release. I know, you're probably going to give up an hour into it, but for people wanting magic, awesome mature stories, incomparable world building and deep lore... there is probably nothing better when it comes to what you described. There is a reason GRR Martin was a part of Elden Ring. Those two names are in the same league. We can also thank Tolkien a great deal for having these things. So Brig, MAN UP and grab a sword (or a staff or wand)! 😂😂

My comment was more towards what Brig said when he mentioned wanting him to be the next Voldemort or someone with more importance on the "evil" side. I was just referring to Draco's ambitions which were driven by a need of approval in my eyes. I don't think he needed to be someone bigger. He didn't enjoy violence or killing. He was always scared of all that. He's a typical son of a rich guy character.

You can see it at the beginning of the movies. That was totally Draco and his entire personality, but when they got older and things turned more serious, he became a victim and had to do stuff he definitely would have never done before.

2024-12-21 11:34:39 +0000 UTCI used to think the same thing about Draco's character path but now I actually like that he doesn't do anything outright heroic or evil. He's kind of like a victim of his surroundings kind of person. He's become a bully because his father bullies him. It's always a cycle. Draco doesn't really want to be evil, he just wants love, attention and approval and he goes about it the only way he knows or thinks he knows until he kind of snaps out of it and breaks the cycle. I think that alone is enough of a character arc to appreciate his story. It's just a shame he didn't have more scenes. He does kind of fade into the background a bit but then a lot of things do and this is not a perfect movie by any means.

They asked Alan Rickman to play Snape, but he didn't like the character being so one dimensional. J.K. Rowling apparently went and told him about her plans for all this before even writing it so that he would understand how important and not one dimensional the character was. He accepted the role and the rest is history. Edit: Just adding that Harry's oldest son is named James Sirius Potter. So Sirius did not get shafted :D

There are darker aspects of Harry Potter that they don't go into too much detail on in the films. Voldemort was essentially born from rape due to his mother using a love potion on a muggle.

It seems like they just didn't know what to do with him. I think he should've been a stronger wizard but still reluctant to hurt Dumbledore. They could have him see the destruction at Hogwarts and be saved by Harry, which ultimately causes him to commit to fighting against Voldemort and the Death Eaters, thus defying his family.

Unless it can be rebuilt, its destruction only benefits the world. Maybe he could've fixed his old wand with it as Jack said, but he still should've destroyed it IMO. The Resurrection Stone being dropped on the ground in the forest is stupid though because someone could just stumble upon it one day lol.

Lavender didn't actually die in the book, but I think she was either turned into a werewolf or half werewolf. Snapes death was sad. He did everything Dumbledore asked him to do. He wasn't one of my favorite characters, but I liked that he protected Harry. I wish he and Harry would have gotten along better though. I'm sad you guys are finished with these because they are such good movies. I grew up with the books and movies. I was 8 when the first movie came out. Harry Potter was first big chapter book and got me into fantasy. I have mixed feelings regarding the tv series. It's hard to imagine the characters being played by others. But, I will watch it to see what they do with it and if they really include stuff that was missed in the movies. I'd recommend listening to the aduiobooks. They're fun to listen too. Have you guys played Hogwarts mystery? It's an interesting phone game. It is set before HP, and as it goes on it starts to merge with the HP era.

The only thing I’d like to add is that when voldy dies “he falls to the ground with a final thud” to show that he was just a human all along, no matter how powerful you get you will still die. And to me them showing him flaking away completely took that whole point away, like he was some mythical creature. Voldy was just a human who didn’t know love and was good with magic. (And the elder wand gets put back with Dumbledore in his grave so once Harry dies the wand will have no master).

After Chris Columbus stopped directing, the new movie-runners kept trying to change things to match their own vision rather than Rowling's. The post-movie recap was painful because, without the books, there's no way to put all of the plot holes from the movies together. The final Battle of Hogwarts was mismanaged by the movies soo badly. Ex - in the books, Voldy can't feel when the horcruxes are destroyed, so the trio operated in better secrecy. Also, in the final fight, Harry escapes from sight via the cloak while Neville beheads the snake and chaos ensues. Voldy ends up fighting like 10 of the Order of the Phoenix at once and Harry casts shield charms around everyone while he's invisible. Voldy begins to feel helpless and doesn't understand why he can't harm anyone and it's because Harry's magic supersedes his as the true owner of the Elder Wand. Then he takes the cloak off and puts him in his place in front of everyone. So many examples but that's one that kills me with regard to understanding the Hallows vs Horcuxes thing.

I really wish it was kept in as it finally shows Draco have a MAJOR change for the better. They also took out a scene of Dudley apologizing for the way things were at home or something, which sucks.
