Listening to openings as you progress throughout a show is the best way to experience anime as later on you get the nostlalgis & memories from certain arcs just by hearing the music. I understand you guys react to all of them at the end of the year but openings can really set the tone of an arc.

I believe Jack was thinking of the giant rasengan when he was asking if Naruto had already come up with a new type of rasengan. And that was demonstrated during the Kazekage rescue arc. He remembered it being throwable because he thought that would be what happens, but it turned out to be giant rasengan and not super well-developed.

I didn't say I wasn't "invested" with the characters. I like Naruto, Orochimaru, Kakashi, Sasuke, Itachi and a few others and want to see how the story goes with them. It's just the story overall hasn't been anything special and the pacing has been the worst I've ever experienced. Like how the third Hokage had his arm in Orochimaru for how ever many episodes or Kakashi and Naruto following that clay bird for 10 episodes, and then that weird dragged out scene with Guy outside the Akatsuki hide out with Gaara.

If you're only watching 4 episodes a week like they are, that's definitely a big part of why you experienced it the way you did or found it boring. I watched it when I was 20 years old, so it's not nostalgia blinding me when I say that if you watch it the way it's meant to be watched (a few episodes a day), you won't feel the same. Yes, it’s full of flashbacks, and the pacing is pretty bad, but watching it like that makes you not even notice because you just want to see what happens next. I cared about the characters very early on, so I can't imagine watching something where you don't even care about the characters. If you really hate it that much, I would just drop it, even though the peak moments will be coming nonstop for the next 6 months on this channel.

Arcane and Vinland saga are probably the closest shows to AOT in style and quality that they have reacted to, Arcane especially being a masterpiece. One Piece is a massive adventure that takes a lot of time, but if you like it in the first 100 episodes it might become your new favourite.

I currently rewatching Naruto and OP with you guys, i love both shows, however the rewatch of one piece has been way easier for me then naruto, i know naruto has some great peaks and emotional moments, but the way to get there has been way worse for me on the 2nd watch. Its the same issues i have with the newest OP arcs, i just get burned out really quickly with how slow it goes. Lucky OP has one pace, sadly naruto has nothing like that (for what i believe).

You can always drop it and watch later with them 🙃 It’s not my favorite show and it never will be even on second rewatch but I usually just stick around to see what I missed or what the Geks find interesting that maybe I didn’t at first. Also it’s Brig and McKays GOAT so I’m interested in what makes it their GOAT. People are right that it gets better very soon but like I said you’re not obligated to sit through it now, you can come back later. Just my experience and it is a shitty one because I’m having a hard time enjoying other things because AOT is such a beast of storytelling, if AOT replaced GOT as your favorite it’s going to be hard to find something else similar to AOT on this channel or anywhere but if you enjoy darker themes Vinland Saga might be up there. Or if you enjoy beautiful storytelling try Arcane! 😊 And if you want to watch something on your own try Berserk, Monster, Castlevania, Scavengers Reign or Black Sails for live action.

I’ll try to be as objective as possible. Naruto was one of my favourites growing up but on a rewatch things have definitely changed, to the point where I wouldn’t even put it in my top20 now. With that being said, the next ~100 episodes are still as good as I remembered, so I would give it a try for another couple of weeks to see how you like these. On another note, try vinland saga before tapping out, as others have said you’d definitely like it!

@Braylen I understand you feeling burnt out but I feel as if 95% of the comments have made it pretty clear about how medicore the show has been upto this point. All I remember ever seeing in the comments from the start of Shippuden is people saying - “these first two arcs are kind of a snooze fest because of the pacing but afterwards everything drastically improves”. Haven’t seen many comments saying to expect anything phenomenal from the first 50 episodes.

It’s like watching the new trilogy 10 times straight or 30 movies would be around the same runtime of how much Naruto I’ve watched so it’s left me feeling really burnt out and not attached to hardly anything or any character. It’s just been so long of people saying it’s going to get better and it just hasn’t it’s almost hard to believe. I’m sorry guys, I think I am going to tap out here. This was my first time seeing this and I’m sure the show gets better later on but it’s just way too boring most of the time. I came to this patreon for Game of Thrones and when that ended I got recommended Attack on Titan by some of you guys and i think it took over Game of Thrones as my favorite show ever. This show has had some good moments every now and then but most of the time it’s just not amazing. I’ve heard of Naruto since I was a kid so for most of my life and expected a lot more. I love Studio Gek and want to stay in this community so I would appreciate any recommendations you guys give me!

I’m not sure where you are getting that it took Naruto 3 years to learn the rasengan, unless I’m just not reading you correctly. And, yes, I’m aware of what he was doing, and I still think he could have done a better job. It was honestly just a harmless snipe at Naruto being tutored by one of the Legendary Sannin, yet being completely unaware of the existence of nature change. Harmless snipes don’t go over well in overly protective fandoms at times, though.

Im not part of the toxic fandom, but i do like to consider different logical versions of what could have happened. I mean if it took Naruto 3 years to learn the Rasengan alone, when else would he have had the time to learn the Chakra change, in the breaks in between where he had to recover from all the chakra exhaustion? Also, didn't Jiraya also get his wicked chest scar during those 3 years, was he teaching him how to use the Rasengan or something else?

If you guys just think a little bit, it's not hard to make sense of why Naruto has so much chakra - having the tailed beast with the biggest amount of raw chakra sealed inside him practically since birth kind of made his own chakra develop naturally to be able to suppress all that power. You need power to suppress power. Then there is one other thing Im not going to spoil, but is definitely VERY RELEVANT to: 1. why exactly Naruto is able to suppress Nine-Tails chakra so well, 2. why he has THAT MUCH chakra, ...and it will be further explained in the story when it is time for it.

@S0uL YgR lol I was careful with my words. He’s not a trash teacher at all (he taught Naruto the rasengan in no time at all). All I said is he was a trash teacher during those two years. I know Jiraiya is pretty much immune to criticism in the community, but that’s lame. I believe he’s a great character, and I also believe he could have done WAY more for Naruto during that time. I mean, he taught Naruto the rasengan while basically being absent for 90% of the time—he could’ve gotten the kid practicing some nature change.

50:05 - Yes & No - Theoretically, any shinobi who possesses multiple chakra properties could create & new jutsu or obtain a certain Kekkai Genkai - however it takes mastery of both separate chakra properties individually combined with extreme chakra control to then use both changes in Chakra Nature simultaneously . & of course some Kekkai Genkai are completely unobtainable naturally if you do not belong to the lineage of a certain clan ( sharingan, byakugan etc. )

The purple rasengan Naruto uses at the end of Part 1 that Jack keeps talking about does have a name, sort of... It's never named in the manga or anime but the video games have named it "Vermillion Rasengan". Other than changing color and looking cool, it has no unique feature other than being slightly stronger.
