I really wish the movies talked more about Fenrir Greyback as a character because it makes his appearances and actions more threatening and scary. He honestly really scares me. The series as a whole did a poor job in building up the character development of the other school kids as well as others around them. This film barely hints at the relationship between Tonks and Remus. These are some of my favorite movies and the book series is basically printed into my brain. I'm excited for the series because the characters will be fleshed out more and things will be explained better.

That is why a lot of book readers say that this movie fails for them. As a book reader with friends who’ve only seen the movies, I’ve had to explain things to them that weren’t shown in the movies because the last movies confused them. If they’d included all those important bits, I’d give this movie a higher score. Not to say that I don’t like it. I do still enjoy it. But I wish they’d done a better job adapting it with all the information we’d need.

2024-12-09 04:53:18 +0000 UTCFor me the worst is that the info they left out is key to understand the outcome of the story. So in the end if you only watch the movies it doesnt make much sense. I could bare with a bad adaptation, but for me this is worse, they killed the resolution of the conflicts and plot lines of the whole story. And lastly, the books do have the romance part but is done well, in the movie the Ron - Lav - Hermione plot is ok (movie Lavender is not like in the books but it's a good change, very funny) but the thing with Harry and Ginny it's super cringy and makes no sense, in the book is totally different and you can understand why it happens.

Just to add one of the most important differences to me, there is NO WAY Harry would obbey the command to stay hidden and do nothing while Dumbledore was cornered. What really happens is that when Draco arrives to the astronomy tower Dubledore uses the time he had to defend himself from the expelliarmus to temporarilly petrify Harry (with a non verbal spell so Draco wouldnt know there was someone else) because HE KNEW that Harry wont stay away from that (he was under the invisibility cloak at Dumbledore request to safely get to Snape). So Harry contemplates the headmaster's death petrified, with nothing to do no matter the desperation he was feeling, and he ran after Snape because the moment Dumbledore died the spell went away. And I can go on and on, damn what an awful adaptation, despite the 2 o 3 things they did well. I really hope the new series makes at least justice to the end of the story (books 6 and 7).

Also, Ginny is a much better character in the books because you see her develop as a character in the background during books 4 and 5.

When the focus becomes less about school and more about the outside stuff going on, reading this when I was a kid, just insane. One, two and three are good, but they're just little kids, so its a little more light hearted. Four is good because in the book, the Tri-Wizard Cup was so well done. Then from Five on, the focus becomes more on the fight against Voldemort and school. Although the whole thing with Ron being on the quidditch team has a little more focus in the book. Just all around, this book/movie is my favorite because the book is incredible and the movie is also so good, and like Jack said, the "quality" jump is evident. It feels more grownup from the start, and as an adult now its much more enjoyable that way.

It's odd how the Imperius Curse is unforgivable while love potions being used to manipulate people into intimate/sexual actions are not taken very seriously. I guess the Imperius Curse is significantly worse and can be used for a wider variety of despicable things. Still, the wizarding world seems pretty lax in terms of these things.

(The love story with Ginny is a million times more awkward than in the books.) But the fact that they cut out a lot of important moments, including the revelation that Snape is the Half-Blood Prince... in movie it is mentioned in passing and essentially doesn’t contribute anything to the overall picture. But I still enjoy this part!

Then rated it a 10/10 on IMDB lol (I'm a book reader but never saw this one). It's the best movie so far by several tiers IMO - the stakes, emotion, intrigue and acting are way more developed than in fan favorite Azkaban.

This encourages critical thinking and teaches them not to follow instructions blindly. This concept isn't limited to the Harry Potter universe. In Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, there's an episode where Shota tries to brew a gift for his father for Father's Day. He follows the instructions perfectly but ends up blowing himself up each time. He only overcomes the problem when he starts thinking outside the box.

But from book 3 onwards there is a lot missing. My overall problem isn’t that they cant fit in 400-800 pages of stuff into these movies but the issue is focusing on things that didn’t need as much screen time. There was far too much romance in this movie when we could have explored more of voldemorts past as we did in the book. The goblet of fire did romance far better as it gave it its own 20 minute section and then moved back on, this movie had too much of it

2024-12-08 15:08:00 +0000 UTCThe movie is good by itself - like I love the trio & their friendship, the awkward teen romance (except for Ginny lol), the feud with Draco, Dumbledore's aura scene.. but it's honestly a terrible adaptation of the book. But I know that it's impossible to get everything across in 2 or so hours and the movie was still very entertaining. I probably sound like a nerdy potterhead but if you want to really delve into the series you have to read the books!

Their are at least two horcruxes that come off as quite random in movie format because this movie decided to skip harry and dumbledores other memories they travelled to where it’s explicitly stated that these might be the other horcruxes

2024-12-08 12:06:59 +0000 UTCHere are some things the movie completely skipped over: 1. Snape's parents are called Eileen Prince and Tobias Snape (muggle) making him the half-blood Prince. 2. One of the memories Harry and Dumbledore visit in the book is of Voldemort’s parents. His mom, Merope Gaunt, seduces his Muggle dad, Tom Riddle Sr., using a love potion. They’re speaking Parseltongue the whole time, and it gives a lot of context about Voldemort’s background. 3. They directly showed Draco's Dark Mark tattoo in the movie, but it is implied in the books. During the scuffle at the end, Harry and friends try to follow Draco and some death eater through a passageway but there is a barrier, and Harry says "I bet you need a dark mark to be able to walk through". 4. During the scuffle at the end, Harry gives the remainder of the luck potion to Ginny and one other to share (maybe Neville or Luna). In the aftermath, they say there were loads of curses flying around, but somehow all of them missed us. 5. They don't show Dumbledore's funeral in the movie - they make him a white marble tomb where he is buried with his wand. 6. At the very beginning, Harry isn't flirting with some waitress, he is indeed at the Durseley's where Dumbledore comes to pick him up. Before leaving, he chastises Vernon and Petunia heavily for their lack of care for Harry. More importantly, he tells them that there is a charm called The Fidelius Charm which allowed Harry to live with his family safely without being tracked down by voldemort or death eaters until he comes of age, and that is why Harry was dropped off there when he was a baby.

There was far too much reliance on the romance stuff which the goblet of fire did far better. The romance stuff also eliminated the chance for more exploration into voldemorts past through harry and dumbledores trips into memories. In the movie there are only 2 memories shown. From what I remember the book shows 7 memories that highlight key set up for harry and Dumbledore predicting the horcruxes. Also Ron’s house was not burned down in the book, the scene actually was a meeting between harry and the new minister at Ron’s house. The movie clearly wanted an action scene just to excite people but the house was totally fine again in the next movie so was pointless in the first place. Also why would they just randomly attack Ron’s house anyway? Overall a 6/10 movie and for me ranks in 6th place overall out of the 8 movies

I think the Geks reached the limit and are hence uploading on a different platform and embedded it in a post. I feel your pain tbh. Streamable is banned in my country, so I'm forced to use a VPN.
