I hear everybody's (valid) complaints about the pacing, and it honestly does NOT get better - IMO it is this story's worst enemy, but Kai really does an awesome job cutting all the unnecessary/duplicate flashbacks and mistranslations so you get the "true" manga version (or as close to it as possible). As someone who has watched the entire anime and Kai version in separate sittings, KAI IS SUPERIOR.

I never understood why they couldn't AT LEAST match up the voice tones as much as possible for everyone not just some characters

I felt incredibly sad for him during THAT ONE pivotal moment later in the story, but I still didn't like him that much. He is constantly making wrong decisions which is frustrating to watch but everything he does is understandable. We would go crazy if we were in his shoes. That being said, it doesn't take away from the fact that he is probably one of the best-written characters in the entire show.

But Kabuto is actually an AB-type (which is linked to irresponsible and forgetful traits). This is later recalled when Kabuto forgets the envelope and says that Orochimaru would prefer A-types for subordinates.
