🐁 Brother and Childhood friend....

Comments

I was so upset with Sang Woo for killing Sae Beyok. I don't think the moderators would have helped her because I feel like they knew she was injured, but still. I wanted her and Gi-hun to win. But, it's clear that only one person will win. I suspected the brother was the front man for a while now. I'm hoping we will understand how he went from a previous winner to one of the front men. And, I think the glass shattering was from the bombs being set off in the tunnel by the policeman

Jenny D

Hope next korean drama will be The Glory. You guys will not regret i promise 🫡

Chalène

Next Korean show: Death Game, The Glory

Nazerke K

Eating noises

BipolarKitten

Glory pleaseeeeeeeee

(13:53) What is Mickey's worst nightmare? 🤓

Keeka 🍰

oof…

Frosty

The game is life and death though

G

They really hot fixed glass dude irl 😂

O

Were the files saved? Coming tonight? Or doomed?

Frosty

Yeagerist >>>

KatyRose

Well I recognized his voice. I wasn't thinking about why he has a side role.

Sasha

Nah the VIPs were just bad, like really bad. Just bad acting and script. Might be the language barrier and they didn’t have a proper english speaker write their dialogue

GBuckets

Small correction: "unnie" is used by females for females older than them, and "noona" is used by males for females older than them.

pink turtle

Some comments already said it but yeah the subtitles put the real name of the people, but the actors refer to them differently. its because in korean ‘hyung’ is used for an older brother or a brother figure by guys, while ‘unnie’ is whats used to refer to older women by girls! I used to be so confused by that as well

Brian

Bro she got multiple stabs in the neck that is not a mercy killing lmao

slay_404

apparently it is what South Korean phone companies are famous for. Network works on mountains and in basements. One of the best phone companies in the world. Unless they have something disrupting the service, if thing like that is possible, network should work.

S Moonchild

Sorry guys, im having random issues with the files for episode 9 and am going to have to find out whats going on tomorrow. Might have to get them repaired but will post the video asap

Studio Geck

The pronunciation of In-ho wasn't weird, he was actually saying 'Hyung' which means older brother in korean. Its also what Sang Woo calls Gi Hun

Rahaf

Its not unrealistic to imagine whoever makes the squid games has control over the service in that area and surrounding areas

Rahaf

cannon tan

Cookie

Finale tonight or is that delayed more?

Frosty

“I would die for my wife” 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽May everyone find a husband like Carter in this life

Lydia

the cop brother plot line allowed us an inside look into the workers and the organization. That to me was just as interesting as the games.

Lydia

oh really??? i didn't know that

def

I mean I cant answer that I'm not the writer, but from a storytelling perspective its a fitting conclusion!

khalxeesi

tears in my squid game eyes

emmy

I would agree if she was just slightly hurt, but she was on her last breath and there was no reason for him to think that they would provide medical care for her since we (the audience) and Sang Woo have seen no evidence of that happening ever. If anything, they were more likely to come in and shoot her to finish it. There was absolutely no reason for him to kill her other than to make us see him as a villain.

Nikita M

The biggest plot hole in the show is the fact that there is nowhere in Korea where there is no phone network. From what I have read, phone companies make sure that phone network works everywhere, even on islands. But they have to add this plot hole to make thriller shows interesting.

S Moonchild

Both this show and Dark do a fantastic job of showing us how complicated each person is. We both have light and dark inside of us, and even the characters that are "good" also will do the unthinkable to survive or for the greater good. I just love how both shows aren't afraid to represent how complicated we really are and how the line between good and bad can be wonky sometimes

Whitney

Not defending Sang-woo's actions at all cause that was brutal, but I can see why he's like this, makes him a good villain and foil for Gi-hun

Brittany (Ultraanimegirl4)

WTF? NO? She wasnt going to make it and it was almost a mercy killing.

cade-carter

In the context of the game he made the best move for his survival. Seeing Gi-Hun trying to get help for her, he most likely determined that they were trying to team up so he eliminated her to increase his chance of survival. You can see that it was a tough decision for him to make and if anyone was in that position they would have to make the decision for themselves

DC

Putting on a show for the VIPs, I guess

Natsu1401

I agree with all of this. He did what he had to do to ensure his survival in the game and he didn’t go over the top with it

DC

they could’ve just dropped the panels at time 0 tho instead of blowing them up lmfao. would definitely be way easier too

DC

Yes, it is

Natsu1401

Killing 80% of humanity "for your loved ones" isn't okay lol. He didn't even save them all and the only reason he "had to" do what he did is because he was too foolish to see any other outcome.

TheSauceGuy

Basic survival instincts can override low regard for your own life, it's pretty interesting.

TheSauceGuy

That’s pretty obvious

Gyt

It’s kinda Gi-hun’s fault for leaving Sae-byeok unattended when he’s banging on the door, yelling.

Zannen Da

If you listen again maybe it has just a tiny hint of his voice but no one would’ve ever imagined it’d be him to play such a hidden and side role which is why it was more shocking to everyone lol

Ashley K

I remember I watched Squid Game like a year after it came out, and that massive wave of haters mostly came from those who watched the english dub version, and I feel like the others were the typical haters on all thats mainstream and popular (kinda like how everyone hates on pop music)

selmak13

Thanks! I'm so sad she died.. Sang Woo is a rat. When Gy hun asked him if he would've pushed him and he diverted the question, you know damn well he would have. RAT.

jrnoodles

I interpret Sang-wo always has to make a reasonable justification for his more direct moments of killing. We see this when him and Gi-hun have there argument about the "glass-master" that he pushed. To him, he did what he had to do in order to keep himself alive. He might recognized there might have been a small chance the "glass-master" would have gone by himself, but that's not a risk a "reasonable" man takes at that moment. For when he killed Sae-byeok I think it also was a reasonable *mitigation of risk* for the upcoming game. Assuming he was truly asleep, he was probably awoken by Gi-hun screaming for help and slamming the door. With that he was also informed that Sae-byeok was severely injured. He probably already have suspicion that Gi-hun would want to team up with Sae-byeok. With all this; he reasoned killing Sae-byeok would be a mercy (making it easier from him to do it) and he takes away the risk of him being up against a team of two for the next game. I want to say I don't think Sang-wo is a good person, but damn is he a good character! We know he is supposedly an educated man who have delt with stock markets form one or two sense before. But the show goes over and beyond in showing this in a subtle way throughout.

Axel Jonsson

Tbf I don't think Sang Woo cares too much about his own life, considering he was literally in the process of ending it in episode 2, through carbon monoxide poisoning. I feel like a lot of people miss what was happening there and misunderstands his motives all the way through.

Gottolf

That's weird because I kinda recognized his voice as soon as he first spoke😂 even with the facemask his voice is way too recognizable

Sasha

Okay but what would have happened differently if she asked help?

Sasha

I'll make sure it won't win it(with my 1 vote🥶)

Sasha

I actually think the same. It's two completely different scenarios.

Sasha

Junior, not every plot needs to meet your expectations😂

Sasha

That actor is Lee Byung-hun and he is one of the very best

Sasha

We're all in love with her in this show🥰

Sasha

Understanding what Sang-woo did is different than what Carter would have done

Sasha

Blaming the food noises is what's really diabolical😂 and it's 8.0 on imdb

Sasha

I freaking feel that plate screeching on my nails😵‍💫

Sasha

Bc its ho yeon

Ashykins

I love Cannon dude, man is always on business and makes the good hearted decisions everytime. “I don’t trust you either” to your own brother is crazy but real for what Carter said😂

Jed

Omg, i haven't tried steins gate but the comments are great. I will consider watching it. Hope they watch it as well. 🥹

Bingsu

8:18 Why McKay look so happy watching that scene?😂

BipolarKitten

Damn her death got tears in my eyes once again

Big Papi

Regards of pronunciation of names! In Koreon culture they don't call someone older than them by their name, it's considered disrespectful. Men call their older brothers/other men who are slitly older than them 'hyung' which is what the cop and Ali used. All the 'Boss' and 'Mister' are the same way to respectfully address someone. When the thug plays the marble game someone who used to call him 'Boss' starts to use his real name to show that he disrespects him. So yeah, that's why subtitles show the name but what the characters say is different. In Korean culture, just many other Asian ones, they have proper words to address someone instead of names

Ayaulym🇰🇿

Bro regardless of motive comparing sang woo to a guy who killed billions of innocent people is crazy

La

Stein’s Gate is perfect to watch after they finish Dark but it probably won’t win the poll.

1999

Different motives. Sang Woo is doing what he's doing to save himself. Eren did what he did to protect his loved ones.

Ben U

Front Man tanked that bullet because he was played by Storm Shadow from GI Joe lmao

Johnny

I would only defend Sang Woo's actions up to the last episode. Killing a dying person is too much. I draw the line there. Do you guys think he would shove Gi-Hun if he was in front of him? 🤔

Nikita M

Nah but fr sang woo was a little too excited to push that dude

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

The actor has been confirmed for season 2

Sean Carroll

I mean, are we even sure he's dead? They definitelly want us to think he's probably alive otherwise they would just shoot him in the head. If S2 goes like: ''nah, he's actually dead'' then yeah, it's cheap.

Lixien

Well tbf sangwoo could have actually been falling asleep, when gi-hun started banging on the doors screaming he would have woken up. The glass game was understandable but he was wilding here, he could have just let her die instead of slitting her throat💀

bateman bookworm

honestly it was the most interesting plotline for me and i don't mind the open-ending to it

ahmad

Brig keepin it real, he ain’t dyin for bro😂🙏🏽

Nonos

☠️. I would give him a warning at like 15 seconds tho 🤷🏼‍♂️

Brig Andrus

Bruh this is the same argument we had in GoT with Shae. His thought process is a bit too black and white, If you understand or empathize with a character's motivations for one decision, you automatically end up supporting all their actions and it's ramifications from then on. This is a slippery slope because he believes that if you justify or accept one action, you’ll justify or accept the next. While this isn’t technically wrong, it’s reductive and ignores context. Understanding why someone did something doesn’t (and shouldn’t) mean you support or justify everything they do after!!

Enma

“I’m shoving that guy for sure” that’s why Brigs the goat 😭😭😭😂😂😂😂

Mitch

Yea that’s actually an unreal take. Genociding 80% of humanity vs killing 2 people to save your own life 😭😭😭😭. Woo Shiesty is him.

Mitch

Might have something from all that for S2

Natsu1401

To this day I hate the whole plot of the cop and his brother. It leads nowhere! He spends the entire season "investigating" the whole thing, looking for his brother and then his brother is the big guy and kills him. So??? What's the point there? It's just a waste of time, it leads nowhere, it doesn't change anything in the story. It's infuriating, honestly. I feel they cheated the audience on that one.

Junior

Sang woo, best character in this series.

Mitch

I believe they blew up the glass panels so that whomever was staying on it after time hits zero dies

Natsu1401

oh this one is very good, nice recommendation!

accomplice

The cop is actually saying hyung (which means older brother) but when translating in subtitles they show he is saying in-ho.

victoria heyer

Carter saying "I kinda agreed with Eren" and then saying "I don't agree with Sang Woo" is crazy to me lol.

TheSauceGuy

Cannon, you conflate "defending" with "understanding" lol. I don't think I could do what Sang Woo did and I think he was wrong, but in a life-or-death situation like he's in, you can't really fault him. It's not like he takes joy in what he's doing and I'd say that he also knows what he's doing is wrong, but he feels he has to to survive.

TheSauceGuy

I remember someone in the comments wanted to know some of the mistranslations/localizations. At 7:00, he actually says “my head(mind)isn’t great”.

After Arcane and Code Geass a good choice would be Steins Gate, Mob Psycho or Castlevania (Steins Gate and Castlevania preferably) After Dark and Squid Game, The Penguin, Band of Brothers and Alice in Borderland would be awesome. But these are my selfish choices. I’m sure the Geks will do a poll.

GreetswithJudgement

PLEASE REACT TO SEASON 2, IT DROPS NEXT MONTH. Also you should watch alice in borderland!

Venus

Sae-byeoks fatal flaw was her inability to reach out for help. She always did things alone, always put the pressure on herself to provide for and save her family and tried to always act alone in the games. She began to grow and learn and trust a little bit, but then Jiyeong sacrificed herself. Sae-byeok can't accept handouts, especially being from North Korea where handouts Do Not Happen. So trying to power through her fatal wound I think is actually a very fitting end. She can fight, but she can't ask for help even for the simplest things.

khalxeesi

They blew up the glass so any players left standing on the course when the timer runs out fall to their death

Kazuma Satou

How the Frontman reveal turning out to be played by Lee Byung Hun totally surprised every single Korean in the world 😮😮😱🙊
