Kind of about the Tendou comment on how he is way more bearable, what I love about Haikyuu is how it takes the teeth away from its villains. So many shows and movies succeed in making complex vilians, but Haikyuu goes the extra step and completely removes their intimidation once that conflict is over. It adds so much to the relationships of the show

Though I think the turnaround for him was in S3 when you get his back story and see him being an actual friend to Ushijima. Their dynamic is great in the way they accept each other. Tendo doesn't act like Ushijima is unapproachable and Wakatoshi isn't bothered by Satori's whimsy.

It's literally why he's not considered a good player. But as Coach Ukai mentioned in episode 2, because Karasuno needs Hinata (more specifically, the quick only he and Kageyama can execute) to win their matches, they cannot afford to have him stop and take the time to practice basic skills more than a few moments at a time during their trainings (and they can't afford to pause their training just for one person to catch up). Coach Ukai says that they've been limiting what Hinata should be doing (improving his basic skills) BECAUSE they keep making him practice his quick, the other techniques they're teaching him to get around blocks AND playing practice matches at the same time. There simply isn't enough time (before the Spring Tournament nationals) for Hinata to neglect practicing the weapons he has in favour of brushing up on serving and receiving. Plus, receiving has been mentioned in season 1 (by Oikawa in episode 7) to be something that you can't improve in just a matter of weeks or a month (which is roughly the amount of time they have left till nationals). It can take years (like Daichi said) to master receiving as a skill. Right now, the best thing that Hinata can do is, ironically, exactly what he's doing now: changing his perspective, watching and learning from others who are wayyyy better than him overall and applying what he's observing into his own practice. This is something that he doesn't get a chance to do with Karasuno, because he'll be IN the game and not OUTSIDE of it there since he's the one playing. If anything is going to improve his basics in the span of a few weeks, it can only be through this method as of now. Trust the Haikyuu process guys!! I promise it won't disappoint you HAHA!

For someone as uninterested in their studies as Kageyama, it definitely is a tough time trying to read kanji without furigana (it's essentially a reading aid for the complicated characters that kanji are consisted of) HAHAHA! Ennoshita was worried that Takeda sensei didn't provide furigana in the directions and that it'll give Kageyama a hard time finding the location of the youth camp JBHWJHBEQ "Do they actually feel heavy?" Well, I don't play volleyball, but I have watched volleyball matches in the VNL, and I can assure you that even as a viewer, those real life spikes feel like they have the force of a bullet behind them. I can't even begin to imagine how painful it might be to actually receive a spike as powerful as Ushijima's. If you want more clarity, there's a viral clip of Yale VS UNC in the men's volleyball final and the opponent's spike literally knocked out Yale's libero and he was just passed out in the middle of the court. And he received another 3 or 4 balls WITH HIS UNCONCIOUS BODY even though each time the ball bounced off him and went sailing back over to the opponent's side. It was insane. AND Yale won the match because they lifted his unconscious body up to block the 4th consecutive spike from UNC. I'm not sure if this is entirely true since comments about it have talked about it being staged but the point still stands: I think the ball can definitely feel really heavy if it's enough to knock someone out HAHAHA

Hiragana (the basic alphabet that includes all the phonetic sounds used in Japanese), Katakana (the same phonetic premise but used for foreign loanwords / foreign names), and Kanji (the complicated alphabet of symbols that use combinations of the sounds to encompass entire concepts and ideas). Kanji is so complicated that each symbol can have multiple ways of being read depending on context and their position when used in combination with other kanji. There are so many ways to read the thousands of different kanji that even my Japanese friends get confused reading some of the super complicated / rarely used kanji XD. FURIGANA is when the hiragana alphabet is placed above the Kanji to indicate how it is meant to be read. Basically Kageyama is kind of dumb and they knew he'd struggle with the Kanji written in the directions XD

They do read them but i believe those information laden long comments might just pass through their minds. He got those guts and determination to avoid being left behind. I always love how hard worker he is. Edit: If I'm not wrong, I remember at the beginning of season 1 when they gave Haikyuu a chance and were a little hesitant about it being a volleyball anime, especially McKay. Then, when the flood of YouTube comments started to come in and the high views followed, their stance seemed to change. They even cited the YouTube comments, saying smtg like, 'Hey guys, stay calm and chill, over time things will get better.' However, there was almost never any mention of the Patreon comments about what was happening.

Tbh I don't really care if Land vs Air comes out late but when you drop like 10 comments from the start of s2 trying to explain that there's two national tournaments and they are still confused by the start of season 4 its really disheartening or for ex Jack asking for the tenth time why they are switching this player in or out when the comments for the last 5 uploads have been explaining the rotation system. I get that he struggled with his height and sees himself in Hinata, but I wish he'd have let him join in. Isn't the whole purpose to strengthen first year players? I don't really Stan Tendo. I just think he's kinda funny. Sure if I was playing against him, I'd find him annoying, but it's his kookiness that makes me laugh. I'm excited for the next set of episodes. And I would say the OVA's are worth a watch. Especially if you like Nekoma. They are before the training camp I believe.

Especially seeing how this is a literal tournament and one of the teams involved is who we face later on. It only makes sense to get the full story rather than skipping something and then popping up seemingly out of nowhere because we don’t see anything else from them during the tourney.
