The manga is so good. I have 2 take aways. 1.Read(and watch) Haikyu gives you a blueprint to being a better person. Talking about so much more then just volleyball. 2. Bokuto might have the best lines in the manga. (I didnt love him as a character till the manga)

Not sure if anyone commented about it already, but Hinata still has the highest vert! The only thing they measured was the distance between the finger print and the ground (130 inches or 10.8 feet, which makes sense since the ring is 10ft), but this doesn't take into account the height differences. So they're pretty much saying that kageyama and hinata have virtually the same score on the test and can reach the same point even though they have a massive height difference, which means hinata just jumps that much higher.

To clarify your questions about why Shiratorizawa doesn't get to go to nationals despite winning the Interhigh finals in their prefecture: ALL the teams in the Miyagi prefecture got a chance to go to the Interhigh nationals in June. Shiratorizawa won the finals then, so they went to nationals to compete with other winners of other prefectures and regions. HOWEVER, this tournament we're following now is a separate one from the Interhigh, called the Spring Tournament, and it happens in January. This is another chance for ALL the teams in the Miyagi prefecture, including Shiratorizawa, to go to nationals, for a second time. And this final match they just played happens around October. Shiratorizawa doesn't get special privileges for winning the previous tournament's finals. They have to play from the start to the finals again and WIN the finals again to go to nationals, but they were thwarted by Karasuno this time. There's really no deeper meaning to it. It's because they're two separate tournaments, and also because only one team from the Miyagi prefecture is allowed to go to nationals. If they were living in a bigger prefecture, then there might be multiple representatives. I love Haikyuu so much that I comment more than once on a reaction video despite the fact that I normally don't post comments at all JSBJHB Ushijima and Tendou are often shown as a pair because Tendou's a weird lil guy who likes to talk to him despite not getting much in the way of conversation. They're essentially best buds, like Tendou bragged (though whether Ushijima sees this as the truth is another thing). I totally get why you guys may not have clicked with or liked Shiratorizawa as a team, but I stand by my opinion that they're one of my favourites in the whole anime. I think they're great, wholesome together and complete each other like real friends do, especially the third years hehe. Loved the reaction to season 3, I can't wait for the OVAs and then season 4!! Things are about to be amazing for nationals!!

Nishinoya's double save in episode 9 still amazes me because it's literally so inhuman like HOW??? Super receives are truly the most hype thing in a match. He literally saved the team from losing so many times across the three seasons so far! There's too many details to point out in the last episode, but two of the most important things I thought you guys should know are these: Kageyama switched places with Hinata right when the ball was served on Karasuno's side, because he knew that Tsukki and the blockers were going to set up a trap to close in Ushijima's straight. He changed places with Hinata who was in the way of a cross shot, so that just in case Ushijima hit a cross, he would be there to receive it since his receiving skills are much better than Hinata's (and because Daichi was blocking and Nishinoya was out so they couldn't receive the spike). And sure enough, the trap was meant to completely block the shut out what would have been a normal straight, but Ushijima ended up changing the course of his spike last minute, as you saw his desperation to get past the block. And he ended up doing a cross, which is insane at that moment due to the exhaustion, the amount of quick thinking and ACTION you'd have to take to pull that off. And viola, Kageyama's idea paid off because he was there to receive the ball where Hinata would probably have failed. It's an amazing show of small details that they don't tell you, and is proof that you'd have to watch this over and over and over again to grasp what the hell was going on and how the events all connected with one another (or take the info from the comments section of other reaction vids HAHAH). And ofc, how could we forget the iconic metaphor when they were scoring the last, LONG point. Both Hinata and Tsukki are being held down (metaphorically) by Ushijima, because he's such a good player that they themselves are not nearly enough to defeat him. But then we have the seniors: Daichi, Asahi, Tanaka coming in one by one to help their juniors, and it's just such a poetic scene because it takes SIX to win in a volleyball game, and that's exactly what happened.

AHAHA When Ushijima raised his hand from the other side of the net, he was trying to apologise to Tsukki for hurting his hand in the last episode. But he didn't do it verbally so many people always get confused. And yes, Jack is right: Coach Ukai's VA did change. Season 3 episode 9 is the first time that we hear his new VA, because his old VA, Tanaka Kazunari died while season 3 was still being recorded. The fandom still mourns his impeccable work as Coach Ukai till this day, but the new VA does a really job job too! The part where Shiratorizawa's coach interrupted his assistant coach when he was saying Hinata almost seems like the Little Giant is another instance where we see him refusing to admit to himself that there IS another way to fight other than being strong and big. And they follow it up with him saying he wants to deny Hinata, and it gives you the feeling that he's actively rejecting himself rather than just Hinata, because he was in the same position as Hinata a long time ago, but chose to believe bigger will always be better. He's looking at Hinata and seeing himself, but doesn't want to believe the fact that he could have found another way to thrive in volleyball as a player, and he projects this onto a player in a similar situation as him. I just love Furudate's subtle storytelling as he weaves in the little details about the characters in such minute ways.

i love shiratorizawa as a team tbh, i understand why they didn't click for you since we got so much more in the manga, but they are genuinely close friends. that's why they all call ushijima by his first name, and mostly all of the other players refer to each other by their first names too. they also live together, since shiratorizawa has dorms, and their dynamic is genuinely wholesome to me because everyone has some sort of personality flaw despite all of their talent at volleyball which would probably make them outcasts elsewhere, but in this team they all genuinely like and accept each other. (ushijima is stoic, tendou is quirky, semi has a need for attention, shirabu can be kind of mean, goshiki is very childlike, etcetera) but it works for them.

Though this comment may have no relevance, possibly because you guys may have already started watching season 4, I highly recommend, if possible, to try and watch at least Part 2 of season 4 in Blu Ray. For context, the 4th season of the anime was actually released over 5 years after the release of the 3rd season (Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa), which is probably why the art style of the series had changed for this season. More specifically, part 2 of the season was created and released during the COVID-19 pandemic. That's actually why the fourth season is split into two parts, and because of that, there are certain episodes, specifically in the second part of season 4, that have weaker animation/art, likely due to some scenes or episodes being outsourced to other smaller studios. Tbh I hated volleyball when I was in school. Middle school started it for me. I was the 2nd smallest kid in my year. Volleyball was harder for me due to my size and I hated receiving lol I started to appreciate this sport because of Haikyu. When I was 13/14, people who don't know me thought I was 9 🥲 That's how small I was. Grew up to normal height for my age at 16.

I truly, truly, wish that you guys give the manga a chance, if ever. Maybe on yalls own time if you ever want to, because despite how good the anime is, I have to say the manga is at least three times as good. There's certain things that couldn't be portrayed in the anime due to cuts/managing episode time&length as well as the budget. The anime is a masterclass, don't get me wrong, and season 4 will be just as good as these first three seasons have been, but you miss out some key details and scenes with the anime. The manga expands on everything you could think of and has crazy good comparisons, themes, life lessons, realism, and so many other aspects that you just don't get in the anime. The manga IS finished so if you guys ever do decide to read it you won't have to wait for releases. The ending of the manga is probably one of the best I've ever read in my life, and the journey this story brings us through is absolutely peak the whole way through. If you thought these first few seasons were good, you would be blown away by some of the content in the manga (if it gets adapted). Sorry if this is a little bit of a yap and glaze sesh but I just had to throw some appreciation out there. Haikyuu is a masterclass and you realize that there is so much to it than just volleyball. I think Jack and Carter especially would like the manga as it really gives you more insight and fleshes stuff out. Case in point: peak show. Peak anime. Peak manga. Peak story. "Volleyball idiots" is the literal translation for the episode, and how Shiratorizawa likes to call Ushijima, but it doesn't necessarily mean something bad or insulting. In Japanese it is used more to refer to people who are crazy about something and can't think of anything else, almost like saying "they go dumb for..." i guess. In this case the title of the episode makes a reference to how Hinata and Ushijima "go dumb for volleyball" because of their drive and passion to play and their love for volleyball, and they are willing to push through anything to do crazy plays.

I don't think it is confirmed, but it is highly theorized that Ushijima is autistic. He only has feelings for volleyball, which is why they call him the "Super Volleyball Idiot", because he basically only cares and knows volleyball. And the reason he does not show that much emotion is that as well, he is not good at show emotions, probably because of his autism. That is also why Tendo is such a good friend to him, Tendo also shows autistic tendencies and they can relate to each other.

Unfortunately, the VA that had been on the show since season 1 passed away (cancer) during season 3 production. They had to change it halfway through.

I think in the Haikyuu verse, The Geks would be: Carter: Daichi He's got that "captain" vibe, a mature one. He comes across as a sincere, empathetic and flexible person, who would be good at advising or commanding others. Bro's got that Shinzou Sasageyo aura 😂 Brig: Oikawa+Kuro Both of them understand the game. They have THE "vision". Oikawa is a shrewd athlete with a silly, sarcastic side to him. He is also very unapologetically himself, same as Brig. Kuro is open-minded, sassy, blunt and playful. Brig gives off both their personalities combined lol. He also doesn't let anyone else influence his opinions. He is pretty calculating and confident.🔥 McKay: Tsuki+Nishinoya He's Tsuki because of his character development lol. Bro was so wary of volleyball, so bored of it, literally staring at a wall, in the beginning, and now he is into it. And, he is Nishinoya for his uplifting vibe, and devious grins. He seems to be a fun-loving person, who appreciates style. Nishi literally joined Karasuno (that had been termed as a fallen powerhouse for a while) despite being a prodigy for the drip. Bro's priorities are different lmfao. I also feel like if Nishinoya were to watch gore, he would also be smirking like McKay does 🤣💀 Cannon: Iwaizumi+Bokuto Iwaizumi has that "no bullshit" attitude, and that just spells Cannon for me. And he resembles Bokuto only when he slips into his emo-mode during matches, freaking out, talking trash about the other teams lol. 😭 (There are a couple characters in season 4 that suit Cannon better tbh) Jack: Shoyo+Takeda 🤣 Well, he is like Hinata with his jumping and optimism. Bro's literally "it isn't over until it's over" in all of Karasuno's games. He WAS the only one who showed some positivity when the match initially started, while the others were literally like: The odds of them winning are +3000. And, he also reminds me of Takeda, every time I see him confused over volleyball rules 😅 He also seems very persistent and supportive. This is just what I see when I look at them. I may be totally off the mark with this one, as I don't know anyone personally, of course 😁

as much as ppl in the comments are gonna come for y’all about disliking tendo, imo it’s completely justified. some characters are just more palatable compared to others. tendo is a character that u sort of have to immediately like in order to get the hype around him.. he’s not necessarily a grower like bokuto (ppl are gonna come for me with this comparison too oh no 😭😭). although tendo’s chracter was essential in giving depth to shiritorizawa as a team and giving comedic lightness to more emotionally heavy scenes, he can come off as annoying at times. not to say that he isn’t a great character, but i can understand when ppl find themselves disliking him.

Jack - Suga and maybe Yamaguchi (?) - he has this calm and kind aura/manner of speech, also he kind of has this reassuring vibe like Suga does aka 'mr refreshing' Cannon - Lev mixed with Kunimi from Aoba josai - idk why, he was the hardest for me to identify with Hiakuuu characters for some reasom, I think he can be just as energetic as Lev but also just as calm as Kunimi sometimes. Carter - Daichi - he stands his ground when it comes to opinions (and always clear as to why he thinks a certain way), edits and posts the videos (basically manages patreon the most as far as ik so, in a way, he leads). Also I think he is the gek that keeps the flow of the video the most (as in greets, starts intros and outros, etc) McKay - Tsukki and maybe Kenma - he seems just as calm and calculating as they are, also the manner of speech is very similar too Brig - Kuroo - he seems just as playful and calculating as Kuroo is, has this smug (in a positive way)/confident attitude. Also even though I've never seen Brig play ,based on his personality my first assumption would be that his style is similar to Kuroo's . P.S. there are def season 4 characters that some of you fit better so can't wait for you to guys finally see them)) Great reactions as always. Oh there is definitely flaws in season 4. In some shots the ball doesn't even squish on impact and that's the basic bouncing ball. For animation to make it to screen you can see them skip shading all together. I can feel the animators fighting for their life especially during the second half of season 4.

Just a heads up fellas, not that it really matters, but the art for season 4 is a little different than the previous seasons. It feels like they tried to modernize it a little. So the character designs are almost a little "sharper?" The lines are darker and such, idk, you'll see what I mean almost immediately. I knew about it beforehand, and I was still caught a little off guard. It's sorta jarring. It's not bad, that's not what i'm saying, its just very obviously different. episode 10 was just chills and upset stomach I didn't feel normal the whole watch through; from the moment ushijima called to shirabu, the spiritual pressure + the teams pushing him off...the aura??? hinata's last play + the spin + music- there was too much going on 😂 i was lightheaded and in just as much disbelief as the third-years. on a side note i always laugh when i see NPC#7 in the ceremony, bc bro spent a total of 0mins and 0secs on the court THIS WHOLE TOURNAMENT. like even ennoshita#6 and narita #8 where there, sheesh also even though kageyama reached the highest i feel it's fair to say hinata can still jump higher, bc he has shorter arms/needs to reach higher

There are 2 tourneys a year! you know this already! what y'all are confused about is how shiratorizowa doesn't get a pass for this tourney. simple answer: it resets. they won the last tourney(locally), and then went to fall nationals. spring comes around and they must play again to go to SPRING nationals, only they skip prequalifiers. shiratorizowa has been to nationals 5 times(three years) since ushijima has been on the team, and karasuno beautifully robbed them of their 6th

Many rewatches and I can never forget coach Washijo’s face when the ball hits the ground in the final play. His expression is so complex and a combination of many emotions that Furudate did so well expressing. Pride, envy, frustration, regret, relief and satisfaction were some I could see. After seeing him make that expression, I knew I could never hate or dislike this man!! It kinda felt like he was just like Hinata but except gone wrong, due to his lack of determination in his growth as a volleyball player as well as circumstances and obstacles arising from his short stature (especially during his generation). The difference was that Hinata knows his path, and no matter how treacherous it is, no matter how much he knows that height and build are probably the most important in volleyball, he never stops and never gives up. He only gets greedier, hungrier and excited to see how much he can flourish and improve despite the setbacks. He envies and looks up to others, but never pitied himself, and so as described by others, he is a monster indeed. When Washijo was looking at Hinata, I’m sure he saw a part of himself which he could have been, and because of that he rejects Hinata’s existence because of what he himself had resulted to: giving up on his OWN volleyball dream to hone OTHER people according to his instilled belief that height and power were the only things that mattered in volleyball. That’s why I really love the addition of Washijo into Haikyuu, he’s such a deep and well written character!!

Not to mention that it's actually hard for some people to focus their mind on the match (since the match causes huge stress for us 😆) and some backstories (those that really need to have people's mind focused without other exciting topics) at the same time.

Ugh, when i saw the 3rd yrs cry, I was a fountain 😭 I can imagine how they felt; that their decision to continue playing volleyball with the team was worth it. Great reactions! Season 3 has good moments, but I agree it does feel more like an ARC than a Season. Season 4 though, is definitely 24 episodes. My favorite moments this season were Tsuki's save, hinata's save, Noya's double save, and the images of them pushing back against Ushiwaka and the upperclassmen lifting him. My top three are 1) Hinata 2) Tsuki 3) Kageyama Daichi, Tanaka, and Suga would follow after them. And of course Bokuto, and, Iwaizumi. As far as character representation: Jack - Suga or Yamaguchi Cannon - Hinata or Tanaka Carter - Daichi McKay - Tsukki Brig - Oikawa Can't wait for season 4 reactions!

I will be honest, the first time I watched Haikyuu I was also slightly underwhelmed with Ushiwaka even if I definitely thought he was very cool. It was difficult to have such a seemingly stoic character follow up after Oikawa who is my favourite Haikyuu character and is such an emotional character. But upon finishing the story I came to really appreciate Ushiwaka. He's such a simple but insanely cool guy. The type that you hear as being part of the Hall of Fame

Easy player nba player comp for ushijima personality wise is kawhi (when he wasn't always injured), stonecold killer robot who is kind of odd to other players, shows emotion somewhat rarely compared to other players but is extremely efficient

Okay, I'll try to match the characters to yours: Jack: Yamaguchi – soft-spoken, very nice and reliable Canon: This one was the hardest to assign; honestly, I still haven't decided... I'm leaning toward Iwaizumi, although Iwa might be a bit too quiet for him... lol I was just now reading Young Coach Ukai and I agree!! Didn’t even think of him but yeah Canon is def Young Ukai Carter: Definitely Daichi—there's no one else that fits as perfectly McKay: Tsukki – he's quiet, but he can really throw out some one-liners at others' expense that crack me up Brig: At first, I thought of Oikawa right away, but he also has a bit of Kuroo in him (and, low-key, a bit of the fox too iyky). Interestingly, these are some of my favorite characters… is that a sign? - focused, competitive, throws out funny comments, but can also be serious and occasionally drops real wisdom

Matching haikyuu characters with geks (can’t wait for new characters hehe): Brig: Oikawa/Young Coach Ukai (Quick to pick up certain strategies and character details, understands characters well. Calm and collected, yet invested) Mckay: Ushiwaka/Tsukki (Doesn’t talk much but when he does, he’s a menace and on point. When he gets invested and becomes vocal, everyone else becomes more hype too) Carter: Daichi/Kuroo (Passionate and empathetic king 💅🏼 Likes teasing the other geks at times XD just like Kuroo. Perceptive and confident with his read on characters/plot) Cannon: Tanaka/Yachi/Tsukki (In a state of wreck, shouting NOOOO NOOO just like yachi. Critical and has a sharp tongue like tsukki. Very expressive and honest with his emotions just like tanaka) Jack: Hinata/Lev/Tsutomu (Single brain cell squad XD. But yea, focused/attentive to details when he needs to be. Facial expressions on point, visibly confused at times and ofc the hype squad 🔥)

Basically, there are 2 major tournaments in Japanese Highschool Volleyball: Interhigh and Spring. They each have their OWN national tournaments for teams who win in their region/prefecture. Karasuno lost in the Interhigh prefecture, while Shiratorizawa won, so Shiratorizawa went to the Interhigh nationals to represent the Miyagi region. We don't know how they did, but the Interhigh nationals is over! Now, in the Spring prefecture tournament, Karasuno won, while Shiratorizawa lost, so only Karasuno gets to go to the Spring nationals tournament and represent Miyagi! I don't know how else to explain it, so I hope this makes sense!

I understand why mainly cannon and mckay would not like tendo at all. I initially didn’t really like him too, but after looking at his backstory, rather than feeling bad for him, I actually felt relieved and happy for him. I’m happy for him because he managed to find volleyball as his safe space to channel his negative energy healthily rather than something more suspicious/dangerous. Being bullied and being called a monster would definitely have a toll on his mental health, he might be a little weird but he’s such a sweetheart off court tbh 🥹❤️

I really like season 4, but it is true that there are some wonky drawings in some episodes. Btw, I know some comments already said this but you should watch the 2 OVAs before the start of season 4. Also, just to clarify, Tokyo sends more than one representative bc it's larger and the host of the national tournament (so, unlike Miyagi prefecture who only sends one team aka Karasuno, Tokyo will send more than one, i think three teams)

One of my fav small moments is when Tsukki looks over his shoulder and tells Hinata "Ike!". I feel like it adds to the subtle development of him fitting into the team. That, and when he gets back in the game and tells Kageyama not to hold back. They both settle right into their usual relationship but you can sense that they both feel more confident when blocking together.

When the Shiratorizawa Coach says, "Once the awards ceremony is over, get on the bus," it's actually a reference back a couple episodes where Tendo mentioned that if the coach isn't satisfied with the game, he'll make everyone run back to campus instead of the taking the bus as punishment. Haikyuu's animation has always been peak because of their series director! But after this season he really needed a break and hence won't be director for season 4. In addition they also lost their animation lead. It's gonna look different but I love season 4 so I hope you guys stick with it ❤️.

Tsukki absolute MVP!!! Also, i'm not sure anyone told you guys yet but there is an animation change in season 4 onwards because i think the studio wanted it make it more like the manga style. Similar to jjk s2 in case you guys were wondering why it looks different (or simpler) to previous seasons. Thanks for the reactions 😊

I dont know if you guys have started s4 yet but id like to say: there were animation budget cuts that happen throughout the season, its mostly clear HOWEVER trust the Haikyuu process. The story is strong and the messages are so fantastic. Trust

The manga is so good. I have 2 take aways. 1.Read(and watch) Haikyu gives you a blueprint to being a better person. Talking about so much more then just volleyball. 2. Bokuto might have the best lines in the manga. (I didnt love him as a character till the manga)

I'm glad McKay didn't listen to all the bums that told him to drop the show back in season 1, cause look at him now, out here getting chills and celebrating the teams hard-fought victory!
