As each side of the conflict fights for survival, the pressure pushes people to find new ways to outdo each other and come out on top. Our society advanced from swords to guns to nuclear weapons. Even AOT came up with anti-titan weapons to the point where normal humans had a chance at beating nations with titans.

It might be a change up from the rest of the story but it's meant to decompress from all the crazy events that have been happening before throwing you into more crazy shit. Especially with what happens to Shirley in the next episode. Just like Euphie, she didn't deserve that. This story is truly tragic.

The main character has the same smarts but he's the opposite of a Lelouch and Yagami type, a failure by society's standards. Extremely likeable character and the show rarely takes any shortcuts in terms of resolutions. @Sean True, but polls aren't everything since they're only based on the audience you have right now. Shows that don't appear on polls can possibly attract a new wider audience. Polls are a good metric but should not be the be-all and end-all. And both Jojo and Kaiji are definitly top 10 material in terms of personnality and writing. Jojo will definitly attract some new blood, Kaiji does not have as much mainstream recognition but it's definitly still extremely popular. But even despite that, I hope they give the actual underground lesser known stuf a chance, there's many gems out there. Making reactions on lesser known shows besides Naruto Shippuden and One Piece reactions isn't a sin.

It's like living two separate lives and then having both of them conjoin, not knowing which to believe. What is reality, and how much of my life has been a lie? She doesn't know that the Emperor manipulated everyone's memories, so it must feel like she's living a lie or is being deceived. This might explain why she was going to kill herself, as the situation felt overwhelming, and her reality doesn't match up with everyone elses's, leading her to believe that death might fix everything or wake her up from this false reality. What I don't quite like is how quickly she accepts her circumstances after seeing Lelouch and his desperation to save her. I guess love can overcome anything, or as she says, "love is power." (I think Brig mentioned it during the reaction, about how Lelouch has been living under the same circumstances as her, which might explain the quick turnaround making her being able to relate and trust him even more so) I really liked the idea of her struggling to find and understand her identity, and I would have loved to see more of her trying to discover the truth in order to reclaim it. Another point about Shirley's plotline that I find interesting is how she calls upon Suzaku for help. I wonder why she would trust him. It might be that he wasn't in school for the majority of the time, or that he holds a high position in the army. She might believe that he is the least involved in whatever is happening, and that he is honorable and trustworthy in her eyes. The last thing I wanted to talk about is how, in particular, the women who are close to Lelouch, his mother, Nunally, Euphy, and now Shirley, end up suffering terrible fates. I wonder why this is. Could it be a motif that people around him, particularly the women, die or suffer as a result of Lelouch gaining more power? They have also all been vehicles of change. Their deaths and Nunally's condition have been pivotal in Lelouch's development into Zero. I think these characters represent what Lelouch is fighting for: innocence(Nunally), peace (Euphy), and love (Shirley). Their deaths could imply that the very ideals he fights to protect are fragile and the power needed to do so often comes at a steep price. I really like this because it not only shows the consequences and the cost of power, but we also see its effect on Lelouch e.g., the refrain scene and his reaction to the death of Euphy and now to the death of Shirley.

Before season 2 episode 22 the show has been very good but you still couldnt figure out what the bigger picture was for the show until it reaches the peak that its famous for. I know its not possible anymore but if they watched 23-24-25 together it would be like a movie, absolute cinema.

It has a lot of plot movement and details but honestly a lot of it is just "in the moment" strategy that doesn't really effect the heartbeat of the story. For me it's an emotional story more than anything else, so the strategizing and battle dialogue that move at lightning speed really aren't all that important. Not to mention the first half of R2 is the "worst" part of the show, especially in terms of being confusing, and they've done just fine. Y'all acting like they are dumb lol.

2024-10-23 20:02:40 +0000 UTCIt's a classic trope in anime and manga to have this slice of life high school aspect combined with something epic. On the contrary American shows will often put school completely aside. In super hero movies the school setting plays a minor role, once the student gets the power the authors most often just cut those moments out thinking the audience wants fights. But in manga they are always central. I think they take that from visual novels, were this is a big trope. Often with a dating sim aspect added with multiple choices. So yeah it feels kinda random and weird but it has it's own little logic behind it. Of course Lelouch should normally not stay in school if the author went for full on logic, but the dramatic effect of someone leading a double life, the contrast between the innocence of school vs someone leading a war against an Empire is just fun and interesting, enough for it take priority over logic. Also, if you guys want another show similar to Code Geass and Death Note, I suggest Kaiji a 100%. I'm sure you'll appreciate it, the writing is great. I love Code Geass but it has small flaws in how things are so convenient. Kaiji does not have that, the intellectual battles are some of the best written. I also hope you guys plan to watch Jojo's bizarre adventure someday : ) Like the title suggests it's a little bizarre, but after having watched One Piece you should be okay, it's only just a tiny bit stranger. You'll have a lot of fun with that too, I can guarantee it.

Maybe the elegance in lelouch's sub voice fits better idk. Dub is slightly cooler in certain parts but overall sub takes the win, especially with that haunting scream at the end. Haven't seen him scream like that before it was crazy
