.Dark. 1x8

a DARK trip to the past.....

Comments

damn this show went dark

Ron Jackson Jr

Never mind then I missed that part. But the rest could be true 🤭

Linn

The Stranger said during this episode when he showed the machine to '86 Tannhouse that the device allows you to travel 33 years into the past and 33 years into the future.

Joel

My take on this is that all three timelines are continuing (linear), so just becomes it started in 2019 it doesn’t mean it has to end there. Which means if we were to watch 2019 go into 2020 the other years would also be a year later. And that is why “future Jonas” doesn’t have to be 33 years older, but could be 10 years older. I do believe he is an outlier though that can (with the machine) go back in time to any date instead of a linear date (12th being 12th in all timelines for example) as with the caves. Don’t know if I explained it well but that is what I believe at least.

Linn

He doesn’t have the book, he only saw it briefly as Ulrich took it with him. It’s in his pants when he wrestles Helge.

Linn

Use this Reddit post, it's better: https://www.reddit.com/r/DarK/comments/cm18jb/spoilerfree_character_reference_sheets_for_season/

Kesendo

I understand briggs point, hes asking how is there an older jonas if the latest period of the 3 times is 2019, and we only know the 2019 jonas, and the only answer to that is keep watching

Caleb

Wait let Brig cook with the Lamp thing

༒ dianna ༒

Also there's two "accidents" Helge suffers this one and one in 1986 which is the one Charlotte mentions while on the phone with her Husband, Jack is right.

༒ dianna ༒

Why are y'all so confused at the end? Presumable "Jonas" explained that in the future, Tannhaus creates the machine that replicates the Wormhole of the cave. Meaning the Wormhole of the cave follows the Triquetra principle (1953, 1986 and 2016) He's goes on to say he has seen the future and with the machine he willingly chose 2019 to destroy the original Wormhole. Now since the machine is broken he had no choice but to use the cave to find Tannhaus to get him to fix it.

༒ dianna ༒

Loving the post chat hahaha Jack gets out the white board

Sean Johnson

and what if that doesn’t change anything? What if the only way to stop Helge is to make sure he doesn’t exist? I’m not saying what Ulrich did was right, but it makes sense to me why he would

Dio

Dio, bro… no need to try to kill someone. Heck take him back to your time or another and see if that changes anything? Anything else but killing a child. Like please

A_Daddy Daichi

yes, but i find that website clunky so i kind of avoid it in a way, I will probably just rewatch the episodes on my own

SirCatelot

Has nothing to do with that 😂

Dio

Canon is so lost in the beginning of this episode 🥴😭

༒ dianna ༒

now yall see why i wanted this show so much

Jacob Goldsmith

shoot yo shot'

Jacob Goldsmith

That next DARK drop today would be legendary.

BRO.

You right, Ulrich should’ve done nothing and let his brother and son get kidnapped and their eyes burned off and eardrums destroyed in the future

Dio

Brig cooked at the end

Paperview007

u got this bro!

Ron Jackson Jr

less than a minute to go - oh my goodness Valentine.... BANG

Karlsefni

@Dio its dumb af because he’s a literal child…

A_Daddy Daichi

@Gottolf idk why it’s so hard to understand this 🤦🏾‍♀️

A_Daddy Daichi

Have you checked out the website with the family tree?

A_Daddy Daichi

Yes, hes on vacation right now and they didnt get to watching it before Carter left. Since GoT is done, they will be able to watch more of the shows that had to get put on a lil temporary break. I imagine we will get some extra uploads to make up for it.

Zess

I binged ahead and am now watching with them. It definitely helps to get all that info uploaded quick to the brain lol

Zess

lol sure it’s joydan.s

Joydan Bri’an

Can I get yo ig?🙂‍↕️

Ant just watching

Hindsight merchants might be going crazy with this watch

Studio Geck

i understand ulrich’s point of view but like i would think everything through before trying to kill a child lmao

Joydan Bri’an

This show is great and im really enjoying it, but if you don't remember the names(im struggling) your kinda fucked. And it doesn't help that we have to wait days for these episodes. I should probably rewatch it on my own

SirCatelot

Cannon still thinking this time travel doesn’t work the same as in AoT, is criminal

Jem de Jager

I feel like only Carter has seen AoT, and the rest has been lacking for the last 3-4 episodes.. jeez

Jem de Jager

Annoying you is my favourite hobby, can't help it

Mia Malvik

Real nit picky here 🙄 the drip is so similar which is what I was referring to MIA

Studio Geck

Absolutely not

Studio Geck

Helge's house in 1953 is Regina's hotel in 2019.

roonil

"What did you say say. What did you say about the boys." Ulrich asked calmly

Sasha

And maybe the priest is cleaning up after Jonas while trying to chase him down because he wants the plant to get built and that’s why he has that device on the back of his hand

Nivek

Maybe future Jonas put those bodies in the construction yard in the past so that the nuclear power plant never gets built

Nivek

The only thing that confused me this whole episode is who some of these people are like their names, and who they are related to again😖😖

Samuel

Read their comment on the last One Piece vid

Mia Malvik

please we want code geass

Alclevy

"Did you find the man you're looking for?" "Yeah." One of the most shocking scenes in TV. Poor little Helge😭💙

bloartle

Are we getting more Code Geass or no?

Artemipsyche

We as the viewer saw Helge from ‘86 dragging a dead body. We know he’s guilty and involved in some way. It wasn’t just a “hunch” that Ulrich had. He managed to figure all of this out. I don’t see how killing a murderer to prevent him from going on a killing spree is dumb, but ok.

Dio

His action was to kill a serial killer that Ulrich fully believed killed his brother and son in the future. How is that so murky? I’m not agreeing that it was the right thing to do, but it seemed like he thought he was taking a life to save at least 4 lives. Also I haven’t thought once to tell him to “calm down”. Everything he’s done has made sense since I’m able to remember that his son, Mikkel is missing and dead bodies keep getting found.

Dio

Ah yes. The strangest thing is definitely the unicorn tattoo🤣

Sasha

It's the mullet making Cannon have a crash out🥲

Sasha

1:06:12 the silence LMAOOO let him cook!!!!

Billie

Funny that Cannon brings up Peaky Blinders when they talk about the 50's because Peaky Blinders is literally set 30 years before that, right after ww1 lol

Mia Malvik

They didnt misinterpret. But he has no conclusive evidence that Helge killed those kids. Killing a kid, just on a hunch that he is gonna become a murderer in the future is straight up dumb.

Rasmus Kjær Poulsen

Dark is dark af

BipolarKitten

Ulrich is impulsive and aggressive, his motives doesn't change that. Along with his questionable morals having been on display since the very first second he appeared on screen. He's a deeply flawed character and I think you're too easily brushing off his faults as if they aren't faults. It's not his motivations that are murky, it's his actions. Eg, if he had the ability to cool off for 2 seconds he could have come up with a billion better ideas on how to "change the future". But he didn't, because that's not his character, he's impulsive and aggressive, so he acts impulsively and aggressively. Like grabbing people instead of talking to them normally. Cooler heads prevail, but that's not him. Not to mention, regardless of his motivation murdering a child was something that was readily available inside him. Like the title of the episode "You reap what you sow". I like Ulrich as a character, but morally there is no reasonable excuse for what he just did. He's just that rash. "Calm down" is very reasonable reaction to what he does on the regular.

Gottolf

Arcane hype

Meave

Canon referring to that one family guy scene in the outro 😂

Blake

12 straight hours of CODGEASS. I expect nothing less

Marlon Douglas

I just want to point out that Ulrich's actor also plays Adolf Hitler in "Look Who's Back" lol.

TheSauceGuy

Bruh we caught him in 4k with yasin's body

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

Yessir

Ron Jackson Jr

Ulrich went past to open Time Traveler Tier

Raul Alberto Marquez Zamora

Code Geass is dead :(

nocomprendo

Have to agree with you. If you look at it from the outside as a viewer it's easy to understand that nothing Ulrich did could change the outcome of the future but just imagine you get thrown back in time. The level of confusion and emotions he felt must be indescribable, I dont think you would figure out that fast that you are the one who gave Helge his scar. And also you are right, his motivation to try to kill Helge wasnt that bad because he knows for a fact Helge in the future has something to do with the murder of 3 kids. I can also understand why some people don't like Ulrich after that but I think but it's also realistic to comprehend his intentions.

Madjoe

Just an fyi because apparently some people think it just went over our heads…it didn’t. We totally understand Ulrichs motive

Studio Geck

It's funny to me that you guys think Ulrich should just accept that he's travelled back 66 years. As if any sane person would believe that, even when shown evidence of it. I'd think it was an elaborate hoax or that I was going crazy way before I'd believe in time travel. I will agree that the guy is a hot headed moron though 😅

Andy tee

Yeah I agree with Brig saying that Ulrich is just an idiot. He convinced himself that Helge was killing children, including his own brother and son. It’s like the whole thing about going back in time to kill baby Hitler debate

Delane Gill

Please check out the DARK website if you haven’t already guys, it helps a lot with remembering the names and connections of characters

Delane Gill

Ulrich knew who Helge would become in old age. That’s why he thought he could change it in 1953, and never hurt any kids.

Cindy Beach

Okay guys you have to watch Steins Gate! ⌚️ Your theories and mental gymnastics will feel even more satisfied.

Ali

HOW ARE THE GEKS HATING ON ULRICH SO HARD!? This was a hard watch ngl 😂 I think they heavily misinterpreted Ulrich this episode. They acted like he was dumb the entire time when he actually connected everything and knew exactly where he was and what was going on. The Geks condemning Ulrich for grabbing Ines and asking her about the dead bodies.. do they realize his son is missing and suspected to be kidnapped by a serial killer? I guess it's just me, but I cut him some slack that he was acting a little frantic. The only thing I can understand judging Ulrich about this episode was when he tried (maybe succeeded?) to kill Helge with a rock. Obviously it was very brutal and definitely not the best action to take. I thought it was interesting though that the Geks never discussed the other side of the argument and Ulrich's motivations.. Helge is literally suspected for killing at least four kids, including his own son and brother. In his mind he is saving their life. but Ulrich is a monster for taking the chance to stop all of that from happening? I can understand not supporting Ulrich for doing that, but it felt like they were hating on him all episode for their own lack of awareness of Ulrich's thoughts and motivations.

Dio

In the dialogue between Egon and his colleague, when Egon asks why people do murder, the collegue replies, if they knew the future murderers, they should be locked up before they grew up. Has the colleague influnced Egon with that reply, to later make him be so persistent on getting young Ulrich locked up. Just a thought😅

Natsu1401

the very end of this discussion was pretty hilarious, legacy game for sure

Zechree

some say the One Piece is the friends we made along the way. I think Dark is the One Piece we made along the way.

Zechree

If you remember in the previous episode, when Ulrich wakes up Helge when he's lying in his care home bed, Helge says "I remember now, it was you!" and now you know what he remembered. Also I'd like for Carter and Brig to do some kind of bet because someone deserves to have bragging rights when the credits roll one way or the other.

Nick K

Alleged serial killer

Nick K

my bad for bringing up season two thought this season was only 8eps so I was thinking that's what's next. Lets finish season 1 first.

Zechree

Future helge is a serial killer who goes into the future to kidnap unsuspecting little kids, kills them, and then dumps their bodies in the past so nobody can find them. I stand with Ulrich!

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

You guys don't get to see this episode but when Ulrich went into the past he heard the bells ringing so he went fucking crazy, it happens.

Euphemia Isobel

Her facial structure is elite genetics. Jawline that can cut diamonds

Walker11

He did go full demon here BUT imagine you think you're saving your son by killing the person you believe murdered your son

Euphemia Isobel

To be honest, I think he is evil but if ulrich was was pure unadulterated evil he would have ENSURED helge is dead dead. Like chop his head off, check the pulse etc

Walker11

Helge is quite the incident haver

Euphemia Isobel

Hahaha, it’s one of my favorite reveals this season because of how subtle and casual it is. It changes absolutely nothing in the story that he lived there, but it’s more like a fun fact. Even though it can be seen as a ‘wow!’ moment, the way they treated it so naturally is weirdly satisfying because no character ever brings it up in a major way — not even Helge. 😭😂

Mason Schutz

Exactly 🙂‍↕️ He would’ve been an upstanding man

A_Daddy Daichi

Needed some Daichi stability in his life

ssj4rit

Ulrich crashed out

A_Daddy Daichi

@Sora, you’re both technically correct, especially when you think of it in terms of the triquetra that Tannhaus explained, which is made up of 1953, 1986, and 2019. I see where Derek is coming from: upon finishing this episode, the show presents time as a 3-way cycle (the triquetra) where the past (1953), present (1986 from one perspective, but 2019 could also be seen as “present” for other characters), and future (2019) are constantly influencing one another. But to your point, Sora, I more so agree with you, because with the triquetra linking these three years, there’s no clear distinction between them. Each time period is part of a loop, meaning they are all interconnected and continuously affect one another. Because of this, there is no definitive “present” in the traditional sense. In this cyclical view of time, it’s fair to say there isn’t a singular “present.”

Mason Schutz

wait I didn’t even realize this omg 😭

A_Daddy Daichi

I like Ulrich’s character and can say he’s still trash lol

A_Daddy Daichi

Best part of the episode was Ulrichs grandma confidently getting out of the car to greet him to her son, his father

Walker11

You will like next episodes title

The night is Dank and full of Memers

I'm not gonna lie if I time traveled I'd probably assume I'm going insane so Ulrich not instantly connecting the dots is not that dumb. He's definitely one of my favorite characters in the show, not because he's good and I'd do everything he does but because he's determined and I root for a tragic morally grey underdog.

Zechree

I love the music in this show. So enchanting.

Elle B.

Helges incident is 1953. But he also had an accident in 1986 November 12th. "3 days from today" Charlotte said.

The night is Dank and full of Memers

music, dialogue, editing, casting, acting, all peak. this episode is crazy and it keeps getting crazier! The start of season two is one of my favorite parts. This is definitely one of if not the show with the most rewatch value. there are some things I didn't even realize till a second watch.

Zechree

This is one of my fav episodes because all of the food for thought. Like the chicken or the egg across time convo. One example would be the "journey through time" book. It has been shown in 2019 , 1953 and 1986 but where do you think the inspiration of the book came from? Could you point out the origin of that books existence? 86 Tanhouse remembers writing the book, 53 Tanhouse now has the book that he wrote in the future. Is he so knowledgeable about time travel because he read the book that he didn't write yet? If so the book itself has no origin point, its existence caused its own existence. So cool.

Garlic

Remember Ulrich has a bad head injury and just time traveled he is a bit shooketh.

The night is Dank and full of Memers

It would be 2052 not 2042 :)

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

It's 100% the baby hitler question for Ulfric in that moment lol and boy did he pick his stance.

Zess

🤨🤨🤨🤨

Brig Andrus

They’ve talked about there being 3 time lines or whatever. Past, present and future. Hood guy, tells the guy that’s he’s from the future. And we’ve seen 3 different sets of times. I think that’s pretty much confirmed 2019 is the future for this set of 3. I wonder if there is another set of “3” timelines after 2019? Maybe. Maybe all of time has these “sets.” I don’t know if I think he is jonas. They just don’t really look alike, but maybe Jonas’ future son?? Or connected in some other way. If it is Jonas, one reason he could be older is because let’s say he goes back in time and lives out those 33 years, he’d obviously age and be older than his 2019 self. Also what if something happens that allows those other sets of 3 time lines to interact with the set we are currently seeing, when they typically wouldn’t be or shouldn’t be able to. If that makes sense lmao. Maybe that is where Noah and “jonas” or the hood guy is from. So the future in the general term but also a future from a different set of 3.

Chrissy

Yo, Ulrich is insane! That was his first response to finding Helge?? I think McKay was saying it earlier. The convo between Agon and that other officer talking about if you are born a killer or become one. This kind of juxtaposes onto Ulrich himself as his first thought to finding Helge is to kill him. No I can talk to him and find out why he's a troubled kid, it's just straight up merc time. So was Ulrich always a killer or made to be a killer and does that also translate to Helge? In his mind I guess it's I need to snuff him out now before he commits more atrocities. To him Helge is like Hitler I guess lmaoo

SuperChuckABoo

I was under the impression that the past, present, and future are all happening simultaneously for this series.

TheSauceGuy

Ngl the insults on Ulrich's intelligence and "no diffed by a 9 year old" cracked me tf up 💀

selmak13

True, him and Joffrey were misunderstood

ssj4rit

Could the older Jonas be from an entirely different world than this one? If not, I'm curious what happens in the many years between current and future Jonas.

TheSauceGuy

LOOOL cannon is so confident when hes wrong about stuff they already have been told/shown

Frosty

Best notification ever. Just finished my midterm now its time to smoke a j and watch the geks react to some peak german tv

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

Ramsay was a gentle soul.

TheSauceGuy

I don’t know if anyone else did this as a kid, but I like to imagine the passage of time in this universe as three crayons rubber banded together (in a pyramid- like shape). If you lead with one crayon, the other two follow the path exactly, and all at one time, but with a small space between each line. So everything young Jonas is doing would be exactly what “older Jonas” lived already, but their respective presents are running alongside each other (again, like the crayons). The real question, then, is which crayon is leading the others?

Safety Tina

lets goo

Your profile pic is Ramsay, you can handle this

ssj4rit

Fr Ulrich is the MVP

ssj4rit

They hating on Ulrich way too much

neve woods

verrrryyyy chatty through this episode. 😂 no hate, but all the beautifully placed, supplemental dialogue is one of the things that makes this show so good for me. that convo between hoodie and Tannhaus for example, or martha's play in a previous episode. not only do they very subtly add context but they are just soooooo well written i love 😭

JAY

there is no present

Sora

That was so disturbing to watch. I feel like he could've broken his neck or something, a rock is so visceral. I love Ulrich as a character, but oh my gosh...

TheSauceGuy

2019 is the future, not the present. 1986 is the present.

Derek Whittom

I think you guys are expecting too much from the characters in the show. If this sort of situation happened to you guys, how long would you be in denial? Once Ulrich went back in time, I don't think his mind would be on Erik or Yasin. I will agree that Ulrich is weirdly convinced that Helge is behind everything, but it could just be his desperation.

TheSauceGuy

Guys, rewatch the conversation between Tanhaus or whatever his name is and the hooded guy. It talks about time and how it works in the series

Nanashi

“ not only does he have one brain cell, he’s disgusting” 😂😂 facts Brig

Bri-Ana Monique

Meh

Derek Whittom

3 minutes in and jack is already getting disrespected smh my head

Frosty

"The same Jonas we've been following." Love they're already confused lol

palma

Cannon, we've seen Helge's house quite a few times up to this episode actually. Haha! His old house is the Winden Hotel in 2019. The first time we see the outside of it is in Episode 1 at the 19:04 mark where we are meeting Regina for the first time and then again in Episode 2 at the 13:52 mark just before we cut to the inside where Regina checks in The Stranger who needs a room.

Mason Schutz

Code Geass is dead I guess 😭

Per usual, attempts to change the future cause the future.

I've only seen season 1 of Dark and I had forgotten a lot of this!! I'm really excited to join you guys watching seasons 2 and 3 😁
