honestly I don't hate it, at least at the NCAA level of competition for a couple reasons: #1 being the reason it was removed in the first place, which is unlike other faults in volleyball (ball being hit out, etc), it's a call that is totally up to the interpretation of the referee, and no two refs are going to be able to make the same call every time. especially at the high level where the play is much faster and setters are more skilled, it becomes exceedingly difficult to accurately call a double on a set. #2, the reason most people hate it is because "it will take the skill out of setting" or "i've practiced my whole life to be able to set well and now it doesn't matter", which is kind of redundant. There's absolutely no benefit to doubling the ball, purposefully or otherwise, so it doesn't actually affect the game that much. high level setters are still going to have little to no spin on the ball, and need to have the ability to place it accurately (which a double hit would not be), so removing the rule entirely just takes away the ability for misinterpretation. (another fun fact about doubling is that it's one of only a couple calls in volleyball in which the coach/captain is NOT allowed to challenge the ref on BECAUSE it is up for interpretation. which can become really frustrating at lower levels when calls are being made onesidedly lol)

usually we are in sync with youtube releases and we are suppose to be a week ahead right? so does that mean there should have been another drop today 11-12? I get that things got delayed on the patreon side but my only issue is that it didnt get delayed on the youtube side as well. Tsukki is my other favorite character besides Oikawa. He knows that Hinata easily gets riled up, so he likes to mess with Hinata lol but one of the reasons I like Tsukki is how he overcame his own negative thoughts with the help of Yamaguchi and started to learn to be a better player. I like his character development here.

It does pay off for them. They are already starting to get better. Sure, it's not perfect and they still have a ways to go, but they needed this. My favorite part is when they finally get the new quick right. I also like when Hinata uses the new attack Bokuto taught him. Bokuto is so extra at times, but at the same time like you guys said at least he realizes he's not at his best. He may do it a bit childishly, but it gives him time to cool down. I feel like the reason some people got defensive about the 3rd years is because it kinda reminded them of Ushijima when he said in episode 1 that 'Infertile soil will not bring forth splendid fruit' and it automatically makes you feel like Hinata and want to say 'I'm Hinata Shoyo from the concrete' lol. In a sense Haikyuu is not the story about making the ultimate team and winning which I know is not what you guys said just to be clear. I love how it's a show about this given team in this prefecture and their journey through high school volleyball. And I mean plenty of time you see All Stars teams and they somehow still don't reach the top of the top and that's what's so fun about sports; it's so unpredictable. That being said people really should chill and be respectful. rewatching haikyuu and seeing hinata improve and get excited over every little thing fills my heart with so much joy 😭 also ukai explaining the difference between the old and new quick to sensei was kind of weird, since he still used technical terms to someone who's not familiar with volleyball. if i were to explain the difference it would be "hinata controls where to hit the quick now" he chooses the place where there are no attackers, jumps his highest and waits for the ball to come to him. kageyama is still a dictator though so he gauges the other players attention and positions, if he senses that they sussed hinata out he can choose not to toss to him and toss to another free player. again this is why i love haikyuu, none of this needs to be told to you, the watcher, directly. you can just compare how the quick was performed before vs now (with the information dropped here and there by jiji ukai and coach ukai) and form your own observation. same with all the hints we got from kuroo and bokuto, now just have to see them COOK during the tournament!

One team each prefecture can go to the national except Tokyo (3 teams), Osaka(2), Hokkaido(2), Kanagawa(2). In total 52 teams make it to the national. Hinata and Kageyama’s new falling toss quick is definitely an anime move, very unrealistic but it’s still a really cool and effective one. It’s really nice to have a move like that in Haikyuu here and there though considering majority of their plays and the show is realistic/grounded. Which is pretty rare in sports anime since a lot of others tend to be overdramatised and unrealistic

As a volleyball player/coach I always found the spinning set pretty funny, considering the rest of the show is decently accurate to real volleyball (except the terms they use, such as ace, but that may just be a japanese thing). But irl the spinning set would most likely always be called as a double touch/setter fault, even if technically Kageyama isn't mishitting the ball. Most highschool refs will call doubles based on the amount of spin on the ball (and obviously kag's be SPINNIN). either way the spinning set would be pretty useless irl lol but it's cool nonetheless

mckay, i’d say the mechanics of the “falling toss” are kindaa unrealistic just because irl, if the ball has that much backspin on it, you’re probably gonna get called for a double 😂 but it 100% IS real that some setters can set a ball that almost kinda floats right in the hitting zone momentarily. so i’d say kags new set is still pretty realistic, i think it’s just way simpler to explain the “stopping” of the ball with backspin, rather than just chalking it up to finesse which i think it lwk is. kinda like akaashi was saying, you acc have to be GOATED to pull ts off 😂 it would also just be so hard to animate a ball that just kinda sits there for a split second w no spin.. and it wouldn’t look so fkn dope 🤷🏾‍♀️ so yeah, once again, kags is just fuckin ridiculous, great reaction, can’t WAIT for the thursday 😁😁

Btw, you guys keep bringing up the potential of Karasuno playing vs Nekoma in the upcoming prefecture tournament, but this is not possible since they are from different prefectures. Nekoma, Fukorodani and all the other teams at this training camp except for Karasuno are all from the Tokyo prefecture. Shiratorizawa, Aoba Johsai, Date Tech and any of the other teams that were at the previous tournament are all part of the Miyagi prefecture and will be at the upcoming tournament, the vast majority being teams we've never seen except for maybe seeing their name on a tournament bracket. The upcoming prefecture tournament is a qualifier for the national spring tournament where representatives for each prefecture play eachother for the national title. Usually only 1 team per prefecture can make it to nationals, however Tokyo is one of the exceptions since the population is so big, so they get 2 representatives. Shiratorizawa and Fukorodani are the favorites for the Miyagi and Tokyo prefecture respectively. Iirc there are 43 prefectures total in Japan.

To answer Jack's question when Tsukki covered the back of his neck and head at the start of the episode: In Haikyuu, the players on the court often do that before someone serves just in case the ball goes in a weird direction and accidentally hits them in the back of the head! You've already seen how Hinata did it to Kageyama once, and it can hurt pretty bad sometimes haha!
