You are allowed to file a missing persons report at any time. The myth was perpetuated by how police treat low-priority cases, such as someone who hasn’t come home from work yet or an adult that may have gone somewhere without contacting anyone first. If that’s the case, they may advise someone to wait a few hours (sometimes 24 hours) to see if that person returns home on their own before filing a report, since there’s no immediate danger. But there’s no rule or law saying that you have to wait before going to the police.

It's to be expected when the governments aren't really investing into raising the teacher's paychecks appropriately. The speed of our social and mental adaptability isn't fast enough to keep up with the ever growing development in technology and globalization, so those two things erode our societal structures faster than we can adapt. We do need a drastic shift in focus and a radically more adaptable curriculum because everything we have now is already outdated since the growing new tech makes the current curriculum obsolete super fast.

Yes, retirement homes let their elderly leave if they want if that's the kind of retirement home since there are different kinds. And yes, schools expect their students to show responsibility for their actions, so the school will not manage each and every facet of a student's behavior and lock them up everywhere. If you treat people as caged animals to be locked up that's the behavior you train them to show later in life, but if you teach people to be responsible for their actions and take initiative then you help people learn how to be exactly that. Actions have consequences. Letting people suffer consequences of their actions while also providing them freedom teaches them more than stopping them from ever doing anything bad. You help kids learn from their mistakes. Obviously, within reason. It is partly an influence of the laissez-faire approach which focuses on letting the individual make their own decisions based on the responsibility assigned to them, while the "grown up" or the teacher is there more so to manage, not to be a dictator nor in a position with a strong focus on authority. It promotes more creative thinking, more independent individuals, that aren't scared to take initiative and think for themselves, and aren't scared to challenge authority if needed.

The old people are free to leave. Unfortunately its government-funded and usually understaffed and/or staffed with inadequate staff, so there's not way to always keep an eye on everyone. There has been a few times I was out driving with my wife and she noticed one of the confused elderly walking around outside so we had to stop for her to follow him back home.

Episode 5 onwards is where I think it gets interesting because you finally have enough puzzle pieces and the characters are all in place so you can finally start doing the theorizing

I do think they carry guns on duty but there is little to almost no threat of getting shot themselves since owning a gun is ilegal in Germany. A black market for guns is also not a thing here or maybe if you've got good connections to some heavy hitter crime organization then yeah maybe you'll be able to get a gun but it's just not a common thing here. Also even if you have a hunting license or license to carry a gun which is super difficult to attain here - you'll still have to keep it locked away at all times and you're NOT allowed to shoot anybody not even if they walk/break onto your property. So that's why police is pretty casual in the series especially in such a small town in Germany. Totally realistic! It's different from the U.S but it works for Germany and honestly I've never heard of a cop getting shot here 🤔

I'm unsure of why this is and if it's realistic; maybe it depends on where they're stationed for the day, Charlotte was in the office and then was supposed to pick her daughter up. Regardless, many European countries (including Germany) have far more well-trained police than the US. Guns aren't pulled as quickly in Europe, for the countries that even arm their regular police. While the US has more violent crime than much of Europe, have a look at the number of people per year American police kill with firearms compared to European countries; I don't think the disparity is justified. Edit: We see a strapped guy at the power plant lol
