2024-09-20 11:45:08 +0000 UTCNot sure if anyone has mentioned it before but the names of the Knightmare frames of “knights of the rounds” are mostly taken from the legend of King Arthur… i.e. Lancelot, Tristan, Mordred… and even Gawain which was stolen by Lelouch… these are names of knights of King “Arthur”… which in this show they named it to the cat lmao… anyway i just find it really interesting and love stuff like this haha… btw, always love your reactions to Code Geass!!!! i always rewind your reactions to the good scenes, makes my days! Cant wait for the next one!!

There is even a whole genre about it, not as popular anymore but it's still there. I will not go on if it's good or bad, it's just something that's on the show as it was normal at that time. Also, Clamp, the character designers are queens when it comes to fanservice lol Check any official illustration once you finish the show, what we see here is really tame in comparison... The staff went wild.

It's very obvious, especially as you will see this show continue. A few eye roll worthy angles in a show that's nearly 20 years old isn't something to get all huffy about when there are FAR worse shows out there for it. And yeah- hate to say it but this show stuck the landing perfectly while AoT really dropped off in quality at the end. For that reason alone I could consider them near equals.

2024-09-18 17:23:00 +0000 UTCThat is an excellent point. And I hope I didn't give the impression I perfectly understood what was happening the first time I watched the show, I didn't. Lol. But hearing it in a language I am more comfortable with helped my comprehension of the story. That works best for me, especially when I first started getting into anime. A big part of that was the fact that Dubbed was the only kind of access I had to anime in the 90s. I do both sub and dub now (especially since I watch reaction channels.) I always think no one will read my comments, so I am grateful you took time to respond. Thank you.

2024-09-18 16:50:32 +0000 UTCWatching it on TV as it aired (dubbed) sometimes you would second guess what they are saying due to their accents on certain words or names etc. With subs i can get clarification and double check information but i just dont like knowing something will happen when the dialogue gets cut off in subtitles (hes gone, where did he -----) because you cant anticipate that with dub. I enjoy watching english speaking shows with subtitles just for confirmation, even youtube videos and documentaries.

AOT was really one of the spearheads of the modern anime that tone down or completely remove fanservice. I think it is a disservice to the incredible writing and characters of the show if you let the cringe moments distract you. Thi show is one of few I'd consider AOT-tier even with its flaws.

I've watched this show since it originally aired and only ever dubbed and even knowing what happens I'm getting confused during this watch along lol. I can confidently say I would be even more lost if I had watched this subbed my first time, so when they miss anything important or misunderstand what's happening, who someone is (or isn't) instead of me getting upset about it I'm more impressed they are following along as well as they are while they are also enjoying it.

2024-09-18 16:08:59 +0000 UTCIf you have already finished Code Geass, theres a youtube video that goes into depth without me spoiling things here when you type "code geass vs attack on titan" and its a 27 minute video breaking everything down on AoT inspirations, comparisons and failures from CG. Theres a few other 10+ minute videos from other creators who make the same AoT/CG comparisons but im recommending the 27 min video. After attack on titan manga ended it was already being compared with Code Geass its just more people like to compare CG with Deathnote and uses it to get new fans. Like i already mentioned its a 2000s anime, they have a little older viewers and dont mind some sussy angles since the ending washes any of those trivial sins.

Once the Geks watch of Code Geass is over I would enjoy learning more about those comparisons/discussions (for obvious spoiler reasons.) But for now, I'll say that stating Code Geass can't or shouldn't be compared or considered better than AOT because of the fan service is a discredit to why Code Geass has been held in such high regard for so long.

If you have seen Code Geass you know how the ending ties everything up well compared to AoT and the inspirations it took from Code Geass. AoT just had that edgy energy for the new generation and social media while Code Geass lost many people due to mecha genre in the age of JJK, Demon slayer, Chainsaw Man hype.

2024-09-18 09:34:04 +0000 UTCBtw, the sussy/suggestive scenes are more prominent in this season because once code geass gained momentum after S1, they wanted the story to include moments that were more 'mainstream'. That included a lot of cliches and 'ecchi' content to please the broader audience of the time. Mayb someone has already addressed this but its a fun (and sad) fact. The level of shamelessness in anime industry hasn't been a constant but it was definitely on the high during those times.

Pretty sure when Lelouch had the helmet being made, it was in the specs to have a voice changer. For our sake they just added an effect on the helmet. Also, Nunnally can't really be Geass'd because she's blind, both Lelouch and Charles need eye contact for it to work.

When it comes to Nunally, Lelouch is very emotional and doesnt think it over he became zero and started a war just for her, just sending ground units on planes to multiple flying ships to capture her without information on the Knights of the Round being there. Luckily Rakshata had time to develop a new floating unit since the floating technology of season 1. Lelouch has many safeguards in place as a student council vice president in the school, they have a massive fire extinguisher for the pizza oven incase something went wrong. Suzaku didnt run with the Knightmare, the Knightmare had a designated route and Suzaku ran and got Arthur by crossing his route, although hes a super soldier so we can just accept it either way lol. Lelouch controls all the security cameras in the school by now through Villetta and using geas on the other spy agents and lie to Suzaku.
