Griefman (Draft 1)
Added 2024-09-14 21:04:58 +0000 UTCI'm going to be on break next week so I can attend a wedding in the dread nation. Once more, a mini-vacation. This is the story I referenced writing--I'll get back to The Wandering Inn after the break. Thanks for your forbearance.
This is Draft 1 of the entire book. (73,500 Words)

I finally finished reading this. I really really appreciated this. I feel like so many of us need a griefman in our lives. A friend who will be there for us, hopefully someone we can be there for when they need us too. Thank you.

2024-09-28 01:52:58 +0000 UTCThis reminded me of Sam Vimes of the Discworld universe a bit. Similar themes of corruption/being incorruptible. Also I like the portrayal of his alter ego a lot. It reminded me of the summoning dark vs the guarding dark. Incidentally, I am very sorry for your loss.

2024-09-26 04:43:18 +0000 UTCAh yes, memento mori. As important as it is, I understand Roy, and fearfully procrastinate addressing such thoughts.

2024-09-22 04:22:53 +0000 UTCI'll save this one for later :(

2024-09-21 16:01:19 +0000 UTCThank you so much for your commitment even in a difficult moment. Is it possible to know what has been changed in volume 6? What are the chapters?

2024-09-20 09:37:03 +0000 UTCThis was both hard to read and triggering and spot on. Thank you. I have lost a lot of people in my life and my job has meant i have lost people i didn’t know. Some are more impactful than others, some you feel it was lucky, you were there at the right time, others you weren’t and it hurts. The ache is always there, a sore tooth waiting for your tongue to probe it and release the pain. Thanks for sharing your pain and for giving words to the wordless.

2024-09-18 07:58:45 +0000 UTCThis hurt to read. Griefman really got to me today 😒

2024-09-18 00:21:15 +0000 UTCAs someone that deals with depression, I can’t read this right now. I’m skipping this chapter for a while. It’s very good but I’m getting triggered just anticipating the drama. I’ll read this when I’m feeling better.

2024-09-17 13:37:15 +0000 UTCIn my head, Erin wears a Griefman mask sometimes…. Ulvama had to craft one and wear it in the jungle to get her to stop trying to nightwish… numbtounge could use a paper plate in his back pocket … Pisces says that he thinks it’s stupid, but has one in his bag of holding, and wishes he could wear it…. Colthe is unashamed and has analysis on what power factor anyone he knows might unlock when donning the mask… Lism cuts holes in liscorian dollars and runs around the city distributing food as breadman after reading the story… olesm gains a new class as he puts on the one he made in his command tent. Young dragons scoff, but magnolia and the ancient dragon of brass and fire weep. Geneva smiles a tiny bit finally when she reads it… those of her who come across a copy…. Ryoka makes nightwish costumes….

2024-09-16 22:33:38 +0000 UTCSo yes. Not quite what I was expected and for the first chapter I wondered where it was going. It felt a lot like Brandon Sandersons Reckoner series. But then it was there and absolutely that reaction and the feelings that come after, numbness, anger everything that I have been going through. I am Griefman!

2024-09-16 08:59:18 +0000 UTCWhy must you make me cry so much? Do it some more, please.

2024-09-15 14:43:35 +0000 UTCThis was an amazing read. I'm still in tears a bit. So many things I didn't expect from you that were better than I ever could have imagined. Can't wait for the final version.

2024-09-15 08:15:19 +0000 UTCReally loved the situations the MC finds himself in. To be honest although Roy is an accountant, I have a hard time picturing him at a desk, poring over Financials. He seems more like a Fixer, or lawyer by the kind of extra work he handles for the heros. That could be I just don't understand what responsibilities a large corporations accountant has. I could imagine or relate to some of his emotion leading up to his visting his father's Apartment. To be honest his struggle inspired me to write a rant about losing my grandfather here, but i deleted it. Too personal. I love the scene where he educates the henchmen. Too few superhero, supervillian novels explore their situation in depth. Ive been interested in supervillians with organisations. Do they run them like a criminal gang? Or an organisation like a Warlord and his armed Forces. An displaced regime, a government in exile, something like the Polish underground state in german occupied Poland in ww2. Or just a Grey PMC, or a black- corporate group with dozens of leather bag companies. There are a great many ideas I've considered.

2024-09-15 03:42:05 +0000 UTCdid you just write an entire book in less than a month? Am I even surprised? (Tone meant to be Positive )

2024-09-15 01:42:28 +0000 UTCIt turns out, when Paba writes a novel, it's not a thousand plus epic its a light 300 pages! I guess all those long chapters really were novels in disguise. Also, I'm happy to see you step away from Innworld for a bit. I've long wondered how it would go if you went for a new setting and world and targeted a traditional book format instead. You've got so much raw experience at this point and more words than most published authors will write before they die. I read part of this already on stream but I'm looking forward to finishing it!

2024-09-15 00:49:31 +0000 UTCQuite good, I really liked this novel. I will avoid mentioning specific beats but the conclusion of the story was well done.

2024-09-14 23:17:35 +0000 UTCI will be reading this in a year or so, though. It's definitely engaging and different than I would have expected already. Just uh....little too close to home, personally, for this moment in my own timeline.

2024-09-14 22:28:07 +0000 UTCOk so (1) this is extremely good and (2) for the first time I'm not reading any more of something by pirateaba because I'm not ready yet and should have realized that from the beginning. I was warned. I will definitely read this later as I already love it, but yeah I should have known better than to try and read it right now

2024-09-14 22:08:49 +0000 UTCSo - make sure, while things are in limbo, that you are paying attention to what you need. Take care. And. Not that it matters but, I'll read anything you write and pay for it.

2024-09-14 21:43:24 +0000 UTCDang, girl, those fingers run on a different type of energy. Excellent, as always. Enjoy your break and the wedding.

2024-09-14 21:34:12 +0000 UTCVery nervous for this not sure if I’ll be able to read it! My daughter died 2 months ago (not completely unexpected as she was born with a rare condition and had already lived past all expectations) Inn world has been a distraction that has taken me to another place and helped me through the early stages of grief! I’ll give it a go and feed back for good or ill.

2024-09-14 21:15:40 +0000 UTCSo for clarification, this is being released in stead of a Wandering inn chapter this week?

2024-09-14 21:12:27 +0000 UTCI hope you are coping well and enjoy the wedding.
