Well to be frank he is corect in this world guards are expected to be be. Watchman, detective, bodyguard, swat, defence attorney, judge, jury and sometimes executioner. Oh and sosial worker, cant forget that one. In Liscor an shopkeeper fixed the last one with proper orphanages. They also have time to do proper judgments beacuse aresting someonr is not the same as sentencing. While her it is. If aomeone is arested they are by default an criminal no mater what. So if an guard arest someone they are the judge and jury.

Gotta say you do character redemption like no one else. You took Ilvriss from a stereotype into one of my favorites. And now Relc, who had become pretty loathsome and now he's turning himself into Elliot Ness. Where I'd once dreamed of Rags returning and kicking his butt into a lake of fire, now I'm looking forward to them bonding over puzzle solving (though she might find them too easy).

I loved this Relc Arc. I love how this is a fun fantasy story but you keep tackling relevant endemic societal obstacles without making me have to think in terms of “relevant endemic societal obstacles”. You make it hard hitting and painful while never letting it become stale or boring. Love it. Still have a bitter taste in my mouth from how the city was never saved, the solution never found, and the only path forward was a “great migration” as their home burns itself with hate and ignorance. But maybe that’s the truest way forward... Also loved Relc’s idea of how to make being a guard easier. It’s something I’ve thought about a lot lately independently

That blurb at the beginning is hilarious. Thanks for the chapter, Relc has been one of my least favorite because of how simple he seemed. Only took taking him out of Liscor before I realized how wrong I was. What I love about this story is how entire novels can be written based off the premise of chapters like these. I would gladly read a book just about Relc and the [Guardsmen] of Innworld.
