Personally I'm hoping Calruz gets a redemption arc. The pieces are all there. But to be honest it's not like Pirate pulled a red wedding out of nowhere. I think there would have been complaints about main character plot armor if some of those involved in the kerfuffle didn't have permanent consequences. I get your feels though. I am a big Pyrite fan. If I had to guess I'd say so is Pirate too.

Thanks Pirateaba for another entertaining chapter. You have made me identify with Erin and actually made me care for what happens to the goblin characters. That being said you killed off my favorites in Pyrite, Headscratcher and Shorthilt. As a fan I could care less if Liscor was burned to the ground. The only one I would care about seeing gone would be a certain little white Gnoll, They take her door again. Lock her up. Her and the goblins try and save their asses again and what do they do. Nothing. Sorry that is incorrect they kill the goblins. I did like another character, a Minotaur but you ripped off his arm and turned him into a crazy, murder. Sel was pretty cool too but oh well. Not a fan of the good guys always getting the short end of things. I look forward again to finding a character I like and having you kill them dramatically.

I loved the idea behind the chapter, of course I would've loved it to be longer, but it was one battle that defined a war (or the lack of it in this case)! Even if there was a lot of things happening at once, I think you could picture the whole thing in a a way that is not easy when talking about a battle of that magnitude.

If the story ended with this chapter, I would probably agree with you. But it is not the end and this felt... realistic. Not everyone suddenly being friends, ignoring generations of ingrained teachings, however wrong we as readers may see it. I liked the small rays of sunshine like half the adventures not shooting at the goblins despite them running towards the city together with goblin lord’s forces. But it is at times like this I wish I had not discovered TWI yet, as I want to immediately follow up a sad chapter like this with seeing how the full story moves forward.

Seems like I'm alone in this, but frankly I was disappointed. Just a bunch of sad, sad, sad... and then the bad guy walks off without any real resolution. The deaths weren't as moving as usual, I guess because so many were crammed together that the writing for each one was neglected. The spiders did basically squat. Emperor has maybe three lines in the action. So many big stakes weren't explored.
