The whole point of the goblin-chapters is that while yes, they are thieves and murderers, they have no other choice than to embrace this life because a peaceful tribe is a dead tribe. A farming tribe only exists until the "civilized" races decide to wipe it out. Velan only had the chance to be peaceful because he was powerful enough nobody wanted to mess with him.
2018-10-25 12:37:31 +0000 UTCI could be wrong but I think the digging tribe that was slaughtered was peaceful/unable to fight. They specialized in digging up grubs for food instead of fighting.

People feel bad for the goblins like awwww they are so persecuted but every goblin is a murderer. Well except pyrite he just wanted to mine. Then rags being the jerk she is took over his tribe making him militant. Not once have we see a farming tribe. Velan was probably a goblin I could have respected. rags and the rest are just parasites that I don’t like or respect.

That wont blow up in anyones face. Looking forward to him being put in a situation were he has to ask for piece or lose the remains of his army.
