August 2018 - Side Stories Poll!

Dear Wizards, I carelessly allowed a young, non verbal child to look into a certain ancient book of magic that i happen to have. Now she keeps making plants grow everywhere. What can i do? ---Mowing My Pillow. Dear Mowing, We at Wistram have constantly warned people about spellbooks. Even though all of our students come to us with some understanding of magic to begin with, we test them every step of the way before allowing them to study additional spells. That being said, once someone has managed to receive something from a given spellbook, it cannot be lost. The child cannot be stripped of the ability to grow plants, all you can do is make sure she can control the spell and use it responsibly. Furthermore, it may be necessary to give her access to the book one more time to ensure she reads and comprehends the first chapter because that is where all the instructions on the proper discipline of spellcasting is. Also, you should start putting aside money now so that when she is old enough you can send her to us.

Curious as to what Letters entails. I’m hoping its various Wistram alumni reporting sightings of earthlings.

Eh I doubt Octavia would win.... But, I really like hearing from characters who can expand our knowledge of life in this world.... Octavia would be one of those people! A smart take on what the world is like. That's why Pisces and Lyonette are great too!

Other stories I'd be most interested in earthlings. IIRC there was a prisoner mentioned way back in VOL1 before Ryoka chapters got started that we never heard more about. Otherwise Pisces or Lyonette because we learn the most about innworld mechanics from them.

I'm sure calruz is more part of the primary plot, so if I had a side character not him, I'd hands down love to hear from our Emperor or King. They make my heart swell the most.

Definitely would like to go back to Flos. Specifically, want to see more exploration of the question, is he trying to bring peace to the world and he does harsh things because he thinks he has to, or is he just a power hungry monster? Similar question for Gazi, last time we saw her she seemed to have a good side, which seems at odds with her murdering Gnolls in Liscor with very little provocation. I like how these characters are hard to pin down or put in a bucket
