Loved the discussion and analysis. Yeah that family is beyond messed up. And it’s never confirmed but you can infer that most likely “the criminal” was Kanata’s dad and not Haruka’s. Because she referred to him as Dad when they both went to go see him and she visited him while he was in prison. Along with how when they went to see their mom and other dad, Kanata stayed back at first. And like she said, if she let Haruka know that and they switched places, then they would’ve ended up killing her since they already viewed her as “a failure” anyway. Also, when Kanata said she decided to leave the family. It actually isn’t that easy. When she said that, it pretty just means she’s going to start working on leaving it hence her saying “I’ve decided” rather than just “I left”. She hasn’t officially left yet. And there are actually OVAs that cover this.
