I think episode 5 went by so fast because you skipped the first scene somehow....no biggie.....shit happens

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

THANK YOU!! This is absolutely a gem. Thank you! I recommend this for a reason. I don’t know if you still plan on reading my comments anymore but I have an ongoing theory that you guys might find interesting so I am just going to leave it in the comments and if you find it interesting you can talk about it if you want. So Inuyasha is, like many anime, inspired by journey to the west to the point where it’s basically the closest thing we have to an anime journey to the west. Now I include stuff like dragon ball because while dragon ball superficially resembles J.T.T.W. more closely, Inuyasha resembles it in a lot more subtle ways. Some of which I don’t know if Takashi herself was consciously aware of it. See, the originally J.T.T.W. was created as an allegory for enlightenment with the different characters resembling different aspects of the mind and acting as they would. Inuyasha I think can similarly be taken as an allegory for love (romantic and platonic). Inuyasha and kagome specifically can easily be seen as allegorical representations of masculinity and femininity (specifically as in the personality types. think of it like a spectrum of personality traits going from one side to the other and inuyasha and kagome just happens to be on the far ends of either). Inuyasha has all the typically masculine strengths: strong, fearless, independent, ambitious, etc. . But he also has all of its insecurities: cannot show any emotion outside of anger and lust, cannot show weakness of any kind, cannot get help of any kind, etc. (outside of any really really immoral traits he’s basically the textbook definition of toxic masculinity when we meet him). Kagome meanwhile is nurturing, as emotionally intelligent as inuyasha is strong(though not useless in a fight), hardworking, and charming. We’ll get to her insecurities later but suffice it to say they are there. As for the villain of the week I would classify sesshomaru as love of the self with maybe a bit of a familial theme to him (still workshopping his theme but the theme is there). In this specific mini arc I would say the main themes are ego, altruism, and bonds. This show is really really good, trust me. And somehow I found the manga even better which shouldn’t be possible for me. I genuinely don’t know why more people don’t give it a chance. Well I mean I think I know why I just mostly disagree with it. I just haven’t seen any of the big name reactors or video essayists talk about it and I think it is a shame because this show is great.

Is there any kissing in shonen you asked? Even if that not much of a common thing but yes. Now, here's the trick, which series? You both have to finish the respectable series you both started. Haha, you won't gain no spoilers outta me, no no nooooooo!!!!! I can't spoil all the good treats. But, in all honesty I do share both of your feelings in terms of lack of romantic points in shonen. It don't have to be over the top. But in terms of family and bloodline going further, some romantic dynamics are normal. I hope I didn't give much away at all - Tekzeiro
