Hello! Big changes! Welcome to the new world!
This upcoming Friday, I'll be launching my new web serial, Flirting with Death, on Patreon. The first chapter will be free for everyone as a teaser, and the second chapter will go up the same day for select patrons. With the new serial comes new tiers, and I've taken this opportunity to do some admin work. So, let's go over what the new tier system looks like.
Tip Jar ($2.5): This tier is, as the name suggests, effectively just a tip jar you can dump money into. A few people have asked for a "no benefits" tier where they can drop a little bit of money, and this is the price point I've settled on given Patreon's cut heavily, heavily disincentivizes any tier lower than $3. You get my gratitude and an invite to the Discord, but no chapters.
This Magical Girl is Mine ($5): It's the web serial that most of you were already here for, and the same tier most of you currently have. Advance chapters of TMGM, but not the new serial.
Flirting with Death ($5): I don't expect this tier to have many takers initially, but I'm setting it up now for the eventual Royal Road launch. Advance chapters of FwD, but not TMGM.
Full Access ($8): This tier get you both serials! The standard for this in web serial spaces is $10, but I'm hoping the slight discount will do some good psychology work on making the upgrade from a single serial tier more appealing. I'd rather have more patrons at a slightly lower price point than fewer patrons at a higher price point, even if it ended up being the same amount of income, because I want people to read my stories and stay invested.
Friend of the Demiurge ($20): This is the big vanity tier. It gets you all advance chapters, a special role in the Discord, and my undying gratitude, holy shit, thank you so much to all of my $20 patrons. You're the patrons who carried me through the lean years of Feast or Famine, and I genuinely could not do this without you. Thank you.
So, yeah! For most of you, there's probably no reason to change anything immediately, but next Friday the new story goes live and y'all can decide if it's worth your cash. When Royal Road comes back from break I'll be hyping the shit out of that story (and the new Tip Jar role for those who couldn't afford to subscribe before).
Thank you to everyone who follows my work. I'm excited for the new story and hopeful that reception will be positive enough I can afford a decent apartment in Portland when the move happens in February. Love you all.
