Market Research for 2nd Serial
Added 2025-10-18 02:41:13 +0000 UTCHello! I am chipping away at various story things and realized, hey, I can do market research. So, for my next project, which is a romance, I'm thinking of having a lot of love interests. Maybe poly, maybe harem, definitely lots of people kissing each other. I have... ideas for this one. Otome isekai, bad ends galore, a spicy blend of horror and romance.
Would the cast of love interests being mixed gender instead of all-women influence your decision to read it? How many bisexuality enjoyers do we have here?

Strong preference for poly over harem. Strong preference for only yuri

2025-10-18 14:26:31 +0000 UTCI don't agree with any of the options: I'd prefer full yuri, but would still read it if it had some male love interests.

2025-10-18 11:42:09 +0000 UTCWhy would the 'one male' "have to be the MC"? I see no reason that the (theoretical) guy(s) couldn't be secondary characters. (Theoretical because ~40% of the patrons have made it clear that that would be a dealbreaker so it probably won't happen)

2025-10-18 11:32:17 +0000 UTCVoted for the first one, but that’s not to say I don’t like pure yuri. I like the idea of having complicated relationship webs to berate the protagonist with, so what easier way to confuse things than to introduce an outside element? It’d also be interesting to see, say, cis straight man in a room full of saphhic tropes — and more specifically how that difference could cause friction and isolation in the non romantic sense as others might more easily exclude them. They could be, say, a side character, plot important but not romantic important — a checkov’s gun of a person that’ll hang on the wall until it’s blown out into the open as collateral damage to plot shenanigans. (If you can’t tell im have my own WIP with a character with this role, so I kinda word vomited. Sorry!)

2025-10-18 09:31:57 +0000 UTCPoly Yuri please! I voted option 3 but I don't mind too much as long as it's not cis guys specifically lol

2025-10-18 06:28:40 +0000 UTCSeconded on this. I voted for option 3 but I would still read it if it was a mixed gender bag

2025-10-18 06:09:14 +0000 UTCI took option 3 but do as you want (tho if it bi I probably won’t read it much)

2025-10-18 03:24:22 +0000 UTCThere can only be 1 male, and it would have to be the MC. I’ve tried m/m. It’s just not for me. Yuri’s fine ofc ( I’m here aren’t I?)

2025-10-18 03:07:26 +0000 UTCI voted for the middle option, but I do have a slight preference for a female cast, but it's not a deal breaker. Also agree with the other comments on poly.

2025-10-18 03:04:34 +0000 UTCstrong preference for poly, not in the "everyones dating everyone" sense but in the "not a harem" sense, at least

2025-10-18 03:02:23 +0000 UTCI'd be happy—even a little happier—with a bi harem, with the assumption that means that at least a few men will be kissing each other. Strictly F/F + F/M would rank lower for me—in a big group romance I want swords to cross.
DMG
2025-10-18 02:56:26 +0000 UTCI'd read it either way, but would skip smut parts involving male characters.

2025-10-18 02:56:24 +0000 UTCI like poly way more than harem. One is inherently much more healthy than the other. (IMO)
