I was going to say basically the same thing - Ruby's hyperfocus vs Sapphire being overwhelmed. This song does an incredible job of visualizing these feelings which are so common to many of us.

Something I love about Here Comes a Thought is how the little details are so true to the characters. Ruby gets focused on one thing she can't let go of, and lets it pull her away and drown out everything else, while Sapphire gets overwhelmed by everything she's trying to keep track of and freezes when it becomes too much. I love this song, honestly, it's one of my absolute favorites. When I'm having a really, REALLY bad day at work, and I feel like I'm hitting my breaking point, I'll sing it to myself and it's SO helpful in rebalancing my emotions and letting me reassert control. And, of course, as mentioned by others, Hori Takafumi as a guest animator absolutely killed it, it's one of the best animated episodes in the show.

While I completely agree with the sentiment that we're doing a lot of things wrong in raising the current generation, I also believe that you have to be careful with that kind of talk since children hear it, and it can create learned helplessness in adulthood. As someone from Gen Z, one of the biggest problems I see with peers as they come into adulthood is learned helplessness. They point to problems caused by the way they were raised and say "I was raised wrong;" "It's too late to change;" etc. And while those problems were indeed caused by the way they were raised and it is indeed much harder to change yourself during adulthood than it is during childhood, you have to believe you can be better. But for a lot of them, they've spent they're adolescent years being told everything that was wrong with the way they were raised and started blaming that rather than trying to fix themselves. Especially with how keenly aware my generation is of things like algorithms and the way they hijack your brain. People acknowledge that, but don't try to fix it and just say it's too late. From what I understand, that type of learned helplessness seems to also exist in quite a few milennials, and we all know how much the way they were raised was dogged on. Children hear and understand a lot more than we think they do. So when they grow up hearing how their generation is being "ruined," once they're old enough to truly understand, they'll think of themselves as "ruined."

Fun Fact: the episode "Mindful Education" had Takafumi Hori as a Guest Animator, Hori being one of the most reknown animators from Studio Trigger... as he worked on both Kill La Kill and Little Witch Academia. That is why the animation for Stevonnie's fight sequences and the hallucinations scenes with the butterflies were so fluid.

So true about people the wrote it down are the ones who got credit. Its why the Romans are credited so much. As much as they do annoyingly uphold the “european supremacy” bs, they did write down basically everything they did and we know a lot about them even when 90% of what they wrote was destroyed. We really wished the mayans wrote down more to learn about the new world civilization.

I STILL cry anytime I watch the episode. SU is my comfort show, but damn it makes me feel so much

The first time I heard "Here comes a thought" will forever be a core memory. I have never cried so hard watching a show, and I watched OP. It touched something I dont even think I fully understood at the time. Teenage years are full of anxiety but this song made things a professional therapist could have done. I still sing it when I make a stupid little mistake that I beat myself for making. FLEXIBILITY, LOVE AND TRUST
