I’m going to be honest with you: when it comes to war, you’re going to have to make tough decisions. You either save yourself, save everyone else, or die trying. It’s not about wanting to be like his mom or not you’re going to have to make that hard choice anyway. Like when Bismuth tried to kill Steven , he had to hurt her, or he was going to die. At the end of the day it still makes you human and not a bad person there is no heroic answer every time it’s just self- defense and war crosses that line constantly in real life and in shows

Best Season Finale of the show hands down.
The show is all about love, tolerance and understanding.... but is in moments like these.... where the main character has to learn a hard lesson from the harsh reality.... when the show really shines.
I also love this Finale because it validates a little bit what Bismuth predicated, although..... obviously in a much less extreme way.
And sure... Steven doesn't have to be the same as his mom if he doesn't want to.... but i think we can all easily deduce that Rose didn't want to shatter Pink Diamond in the slightest. But she most likely was put in an impossible position.... where she had to decide between betraying her ideals... or protecting the ones she loved alongside her new home (kinda like Ned Stark in Game of Thrones).
In those kinds of situations.... it really doesn't matter if steven wants to remain a pacifist, he would have make a tough decision.... because he's not fighting just for himself.... he has whole lot of family and friends that would suffer if he didn't take any possible measure to ensure the safety of his planet.
Man.......... i love the Pink Diamond Twist (especially because it makes Pearl's character even better in retrospective) but it also saddens me.... because it diminishes the good lesson that Steven learned right here.

I love how the reveal of Rose shattering Pink Diamond builds on top of the doubt from Bismuth.
I won't spoil too much, but its interesting how much depth they add to a character that isn't even on-screen for most of the show.
Also, good to see me and my fellow pre-watchers are all on the same page.

I know what you mean; it’s surprising that it was happening so early on.

I love that last couple shots of Steven. The scene where they're talking about what Rose did is so well juxtaposed with Steven's time in the bubble. He's struggling to believe that Rose Quartz could shatter a diamond, even if it was what needed to be done and the only way. But with that last question, you can tell — in the tremor in his voice, the shakiness of his hand, him grasping his core — that now he's not just asking if Rose could hurt someone like that. Then, as he stares out into space, where he just was forced to personally throw a Ruby out into the void from which he was just rescued from the terrifying fate of being lost forever, you can see in his eyes that he's scared: "Could *I* really hurt someone like that?"

I love noticing the foreshadowing of stuff in early episodes. I don't dare say what the things are so I don't spoil, but you know... certain people making certain gestures.
