I can't be the only one thinking maybe they should give Lute 5 minutes with Vox lol

zeezi's such a baddie

Charlie being unable to accept criticism isn't that surprising. A lot of people who are set in their ways for better or worse can become trapped in the mindset that criticism equals an attack or disagreement with the goal. Some can become so hyper focused on their beliefs that they can't even acknowledge what's actually being said and instead manipulate it into what they think is being said. (Such as what happened here with Charlie)

Speed1247

Lucifer can't hurt sinners, but he can clearly destroy property! He should have went for the V's tower. They can't do shit if they're out on the street!

King of flames

Man, they really did Lucifer dirty. Coolest character got completely nerfed, didn't even get to finish his song (which would've been the best song of the season, if not the show itself)

Cooper Quartz

Vaggie victim blaming Charlie and Alicia agreeing to it was kinda crazy ngl πŸ«©πŸ’”

What's really interesting to me about Vox in these episodes in particular is how Alister is able to convince him that his greatest strength is a weakness. It feels weird to say about a villain like him, but when he beat Alister last episode it was with the anime protagonist's "power of friendship". The Vees have something almost wholesome going on up until this point, despite their numbers equal to Alister's squad, Alister's are just minions following orders compared to the Vees who each took initiative and had each other's backs. Yeah, Vox has his ego and megalomania, but back in episode 1 of this season, the Vees were able to reign him in when they got the better of him. It makes me think about the interaction between him and Charlie, where he asks if even he could be redeemed - I feel like, if he was able to invest in the friendships with the other Vees and heal the wound of having his friendship rejected by Alister, he could turn himself around and become a better person. It's kind of disappointing seeing Alister undoing all that progress, ruining Vox's best shot at redemption by playing on Vox's deadliest sin. And yeah, the stuff we find out next episode about Vox and Angel makes it hard to want him to be redeemed, or see him as redeemable. But mind you, this isn't exactly any more heinous than the genocide that Sera was doing. And I believe I already stated in a previous comment section how I don't think redemption is a transactional "save enough puppies to make up for being a serial killer" thing. Most sins or crimes arent things you can repair or repay, the best anyone can do is acknowledge that what they did was wrong and decide that they can, and will, be better going forward. Most of the people in hell, at least in this show, are there because they don't think they deserve to be in heaven.

Charlie is something else this season

scatman's world

It is really frustrating to see Charlie's actions but at the same time, it makes complete sense. After all she is the Daughter of Pride. And as such, she carries herself with that pride in front of most things, even when it mixes with her insecurities.

This was a hard watch. The good guys are holding onto the idiot ball way too tightly and it's frustrating. Remember in season 1 when the good guys were smart enough to immediately believe Angel Dust over Sir Pentious in his debut episode? That was great. That gave me hope that the writers wouldn't rely on contrived idiocy to make the villains threatening.

Bloodredtyrant

Seriously wondering why it doesn't occur to Lu that he might not be able to use a stick, but he owns all the carrots.

Professor Harmless

I really feel like the characters are being stupid for the sake of the plot this season

Joshua Sheppard

Bringing up Ser Pentious wouldn't have done anything, Vox has been already setting up his spin for making that not matter since he learned of it, with "Oh sure, you could get to heaven the Princess' way. By totally changing who you are and obeying their restrictive, arbitrary rules!" There's really no good way of dealing with Vox at this point other then to let him spiral out of control and get so cocky that he over steps and shows how little he actually gives a fuck for anyone but himself.

Seraphem

I mean, redemption doesn't mean shit for demons like Vox or the ones that support him. They like to be evil, he would go like "oh, so you want us to CHANGE in order to fit your canon? And what if we don't huh? You'll exterminate the ones that don't comply too?." and that would be all.... You can't even be mad at him, he's just too god on what he does. But, there's one better: Alastor. He's the one that will make him fall, and only using his words as he can't use anything else right now XD

Eric

I really feel that using Redemption as a means to win over Sinners at this point would fail. Vox has gassed up the Sinners and has sold them on the idea that the solution to all their problems is to just tear down Heaven and make it their own. Trying to fight Vox with nothing but good intentions and words without hard physical evidence is a fool’s errand. It’s going to take action, getting dirty and perhaps a certain radio demon sowing discontent from the inside to bring Vox down.

BakaSama

I like hearing Alicia's opinions because they are similar to mine, just a lot more sympathetic towards the show's writers, meanwhile, I'm freaking out about the writing decisions and so angry that I'm ready to fight GOD. So thanks Alicia for being more positive about it, I needed that lol

Leticia

Is it crazy to say I think Vox is a way better main antagonist than Adam was? Don't get me wrong I loved Adam, but Vox went from comedy relief to such a dominating presence. all because he's charismatic, such an effective manipulator, smart, ruthless, and is highly ambitious. Even if Lucifer could have smite him, he'd have just been a martyr, having already gotten into the head of the populace. I don't know how the creators are going to top Vox.

bc@t

charlie is the daughter of the king of pride so it makes sense she is prideful herself

Reyo Bloodfallen

vox ruined lucys song, now i dislike him more

Kalinka

Unfortunately I think the angels, and Emily in particular are not great when it comes to empathizing with pain or rage. I doubt Emily had ever been really upset before learning about the exterminations and has no clue how to apologize or work toward fixing something like that, hence the gift baskets. Or what someone might want from the person or people who upset them.

kaizerlith

The problem with all the solutions for dealing with Vox is that it's just retreading the same mistakes Charlie made in episodes 3 and 4. Vox is the person the sinners WANT to trust, they've been conditioned to trust him more than anyone else. He's clearly good enough to spin anything around and it's not even hard. "Pentious was redeemed, see?" *shows Pentious in Heaven* "Well would you look at that, all you have to do to be redeemed is die for the Princess! How bout it folks? How many of you are ready to die for this sheltered, airheaded bimbo who thinks you're all trash that need to change everything about yourselves?" Vox successfully maneuvered his way into a No-Lose situation because ANY response gives him what he wants. Kill him? He's a martyr. Attack him? He's proven right. Show Pentious? Just ask them how it happened, the angels will honestly answer "IDK we didn't think it was possible" and he spins it as a one-off favor for Lucifer's daughter. The only way to stop this rally from working in Vox's favor would be to never let him have it in the first place.
