Oh my God Garnet is queen. That was the best response to a parent calling about the children. I wish my own kids were still young so that I could’ve done the same thing. Unfortunately, my kids are all grown up now.

His dad probably saw them there when he was a kid being around the town, so for Ronaldo and all the other teenagers in town, when something is weird, they get amazed, but if ends up being "gems stuff", they dont care, because for them thats "normal", they grew up in a town where "gems stuff" is the default, so for them, even if is weird, is "normal", so a "weird" not being "gems stuff" is actually weird, thats why Ronaldo go from "oh, this is something super paranormal and secrecy and weird" to "oh, is just steven, ok, thats normal, is a magical gems stuff" and then just keep with his depression... People in the town basically built a 'perception filter' of the world around them, they see anything weird as "normal" as long as is a "gems stuff", but at least they are aware that it can be dangerous
