Hazbin Hotel 2x2

MY SWEET BOY

Hazbin Hotel 2x2

I like how they did this, the seraphim should be above humans in the way they can see things so them being capable of acknowledging a mistake and changing works, but also not knowing what to do is fair, because they now know they fucked up, but Hell is a legitimate threat. This means that they are in a bad position where they know what was wrong and now can't deal with hell that way, but simultaneously hell is now driven by revenge and is full of horrible people who would happily see everything heaven has be destroyed, so deciding to cut heaven off for protection makes a lot of sense. It's a case where the person realized they were wrong too late and while they want to fix things it's too late. (However I don't believe it is too late in this case, the change can come and people can be saved, a solution is possible in this situation, unfortunately it's a show and so there must be conflict and that will cause problems.)

I love how they introduce the Speaker. Lute saying they're in the Speakers house so she WILL use her voice, and Sir Pentious trying to answer but constantly getting cut off until the Speaker steps in and makes sure he gets his opportunity to speak for himself in what is essentially his trial.

The Force

Gravity is definitely the song that hit me the strongest, for a very specific reason. I don't know if it's the right way to say it : That song wasn't angry, it was hateful(I mean that in an amazing way). Hatred is so much more visceral as an emotion in my opinion. Way harder to convey than anger.

Le Karibou

Sanctus! Dominus! Song came out of left field and it was sick, along with dandan excorsism song, hopefully we get another Lute musical

"Guilt is motivating, but shame is paralyzing." Guilt says "I'm a good person who did a bad thing, I need to make it right." Shame says "I'm a bad person because I did a bad thing, I can't make it right, because I don't believe a bad person can do good." It's interesting that both Pendleton and Sera mirror that sentiment. Pendleton died ashamed of what he did, not believing himself capable of being better, until Charlie convinced him otherwise. Sera similarly, I believe is a good person, but because she wasn't able to see that what she was doing before was wrong, she doesn't believe she can make the right decision for Heaven going forward. So she keeps looking to other people to tell her what she needs to do, just as the Speaker said. But the Speaker instead said it won't mean anything unless Sera makes the decision herself. Abel and Peter are both too passive to give her any advice. And then, when Sera is out of lifelines, she stalls having to pull the trigger on a decisive course of action by putting Heaven on lockdown. I do sincerely hope that Sera being capable of genuine remorse means she will be redeemed - not in a way that makes up for the genocide, mind you, but in a way that she can become a powerful force for good going forward. The past is set in stone, we can't change it or make up for it, but we can choose who we want to be in the future.

i feel like the reason we dont see emily returning at the end of the episode is becouse she gets stuck in hell.

teatus

Actually the 681 missed calls were from Lucifer.

Fuhki Shoga

The imagery during Gravity was very interesting. The spotlight only turning on after it was broken. Her shadow still and unmoving as she approached the wall. The slits in the wallpaper resembling the eyes you often see in the walls of hell. Lute perching like a gargoyle. I love it, and I'm taking it in. I don't quite have enough to make a prediction, but I'm going to chew it over.

Bologna Amputation

Poor Emily doing her best. Also, new here. Love your content, especially the hellaverse stuff 🫂

Casey Seth

wondering if Emily is gonna get stuck on the other side of the bubble on her way back

Maddie the witch

I love that Sera acknowledges she was wrong but can still see that Lute is kind of right about Hell being behind an uprising. We saw it with the Vees and general sinner public. They got a thirst for blood and want more seeing how angels can indeed be killed. A temporary shutdown with controlled comings and goings makes sense.

bc@t

It wasn't 687 calls from her child the 687 calls were from Lucifer. It's 38 missed calls from her child.

DLCDallas

It's subtle but I kinda dig Emily's characterization in this episode with regards to Sir Pentious because with what we see where she could fairly easily travel to hell, not only is she easily distracted by the escapism of Heaven but also she's treating Sir Pentious as if he was any other soul up there. She probably gets asked by a LOT of mortal souls if they can see their living loved ones after their death and has to kind of manage/handle that by transitioning them into their new stage of existence. So, it's not necessarily that she's willfully keeping him from contacting Charlie and the others, she's just being restrained by her perspective and assumptions without reconsidering the way Sir Pentious' existence in Heaven challenges them.

Molly McDougal

I think Sera is doing the right thing by sealing heaven and buffing security. Or at least half the right thing. She needs to open a line of communication to hell and send a diplomatic envoy. Preferably including Sir Pentious.

Titanium Titan

The Speaker Of Heaven's VA is a singer for some Anastasia from Anastasia, Jasmine in Aladdin 2 and 3, and Kiara in Simba 2, her voice is SO damn good. Gravity goes SO fucking hard in both Animation and Song.... It is gonna be SOOOOO god damn hard to top this thing and we are ONLY 2 episodes in.... SO excited for Nov 4

Hellguin

You know why they released Gravity in advance? Because although it's a BANGER, it came immediately after Sera's song. You do not want to come right after that god tier song (pun intended). Anyways snek

Juanma

Just had to watch this again just to see Alicia get stunlocked by Gravity again xD

Menneken01

I got a life size Egg Boy from Tsubasacon this year. While watching this season and your reactions to it I just have it sitting in my lap. I also have a plush of the Snake form of Lucifer. I dressed as Alastor at Fanexpo earlier in the year and had a green chain that I tied around the snake's neck and around my wrist like his contracts.

Switchchris27

After hearing Sir Pentious' backstory my theory on what gets someone in heaven or hell in this universe is someone's personal guilt. Pentious felt immense guilt after doing nothing to stop Jack the Ripper's killing spree and overcame that guilt by trying to stop Adam's, Adam on the other hand despite being an objectively worse person and committing the "Original Sin" doesn't feel guilt for any of his actions so he made it into heaven. I could be wrong and a future episode may disprove this but I think it's a okay guess. There are however two glaring holes in my theory, Alastor and Valentino both are the scum of the Earth (Fight me murderer simps) and they both seem to be like Adam in that they wouldn't feel guilty about their actions, at most we know from a livestream that Alastor is a "mama's boy" so maybe if his actions impacted his mother he would feel some guilt.

DLCDallas

No way, I just saw that Abel is Patrick Stump from F.O.B

Matheus Filipe Lenz

Ok, I know Emily went back through the portal at the end of episode 1.... but it would be kinda cool if she didn't make it back in time and the shield shut before she could get back in. Maybe she's stuck on earth for now? And then maybe the IMP crew get her back to hell? And then she's their with the Hotel crew? I just think that would be cool.

DrCatspaw

They hit us with the Metatron.

Professor Harmless

So I did a bit of a sync of the 2 episodes and a lot of things seem to happen simultainously between the 2 episodes, as the egg boi is talking about sir pentious, sir pentious is talking about his life story, The V's song and Gravity start roughly around the same time, one talking about ascending to power while the other one is showing Lute's decent, and 30 seconds after Emily goes through her portal she shows up in front of Charlie.

Matt Myers

Like how Lute just confirmed that Adam was an archangel. Explains the power he displayed compared to the other regular angel exorcists, beating Alaster, and actually trying to fight top angel class seraphim Lucifer

Alberto Sanchez

What a concept... heaven is hell for sir pentious without his friends This show is cooking

thedangmaster

Its funny how this episode implies that Adam died before abel since Adam was the first soul in heaven, so its possible that Adam preferred his other son Cain, and then abel ended up in heaven when Cain murdered him and Adam for thousands of years still hated his son abel

Darc Hart94

Is it me or does Able look more like Lucifer's son than Adam's ? The light hair, the circus looking costume, the shy and kind ways

Bastiwen

Fun Fact! This episode (along with the first third of episode 4) leaked last year as animatics, the songs weren't fully mixed yet so halfway through Sera's Confession it changed to Sam Haft singing in a completely different key for 5 seconds.

King'sBard

Fuck the songs are legendary in this season!

NekoSoophie!

As someone who grew up in a rock/metal household, Hell Is Forever was my favourite song of season 1. Needless to say, Gravity is looking pretty nailed on for my favourite of season 2. That song kicked all kinds of ass.

Luffyiscool

I have to say that I really appreciate the Speaker’s lines in Sera’s song, especially “You speak of choices Made by other voices You can only atone Once you speak with your own.” From what we know, it’s implied that the exterminations started because Adam convinced Sera that Hell was a threat to Heaven, but it doesn’t seem like she confirmed it for herself and just went along with it. She’s been trusting the judgement of other people instead of her own and that’s what got her into this situation, so she’s not going to resolve it by continuing to rely on others’ voices and not her own. Because in the end, she has to make the final call. And although you could argue her not wanting anymore blood on her hands is selfish, at least she’s acknowledging that despite never directly getting involved in the exterminations, she’s still at least partially responsible for the deaths of sinners.

Talba_the_Swift

ohhhhhh she the mettatron

Lance Ivy

Wasn't lute there when Adam died, nifty was the one who actually killed him, pentious tried to kill him but got one shot

gamer cental 23

In case you guys dint know, the voice of The Speaker is Liz Callaway! Known for her singing role for Jasmine from Aladdin and my personal favorite...ANASTASIA!

Hylian Warrior

Just as a list Michael- Supreme commander of the celestial host. Raphael- The Healer Uriel- The Wrath Azrael- The guide of the dead Gabriel- Gods messenger

A C PARNELL

The speaker seems to confirm the existence of a god in this universe. In legend I am pretty sure God's Speaker is called the Metatron or Gabriel depending on the myth. We haven't heard or seen any of heavens big names. Gabriel, Azreal, Uriel, Raphael or most importantly Michael. Either they are trapped elsewhere or doing important celestial functions that demand all their time or they are all incredibly hands off.

A C PARNELL

really hoping they do more with Adam this season, just a bit of depth to his character, even if it's only through other character's relation to him.
