Yeah, that was the most frustrating thing about early S2 as well for me. It's understandable why it'd happen like this, given each character's psychological hangups, but it still hurts to see them breeze past every opportunity for these characters to just talk things out. At least it has one hell of a payoff by the season end though!

Also, with the whole impending apocalypse thing, I’d probably go full Spartan training on my childhood if I knew an apocalypse was coming

One of the things with General Lane and Lois' relationship is that it feels very real. Lane is clearly career military probably from 18 or at latest 22, likely met his wife while on deployment to Korea, and it's been the only life he knew. He might even have been a military brat himself, and if I had to guess likely didn't have any sisters, so raising a girl and the complications that brings are not something he's prepared for. A lot of how he treats Lois actually would make sense for a boy (and, note: this Lois is very much of a tomboy, in large part because of how she was raised) Meanwhile, he's putting on a stoic face and trying to teach and bond with his daughter even while he watches his wife die, bottling up those emotions to put on a strong face for his child. He's clearly not a bad man, and he's not a malicious father, he was doing the best he could. Did he make mistakes? Absolutely, but they're also mistakes that make sense given his character and circumstances and many of them would only be clear in hindsight, not in the moment he made them.

man i hate how in seeason 2 this dumb "we never get the chance to communicate" bit just keeps going on and will start shit again... Like season 1 was so great cuzz it always dealt with the silly nonsense immediately

"The Alien Question" they called it. Very on the nose. Superman was largely inspired by Jewish immigrants during Hitler's rise to power. "The Jewish Question" was a dogwhistle by nazis when addressing the pressence of Jews in their society. "The Final Solution" was their answer to the Jewish Question. I can't say with 100% certainty, but I am 99% confident that the writers knew exactly what they were doing with that. This is unrelated, but at the time, what the Final Solution was was not public knowledge. Certainly, many people had their suspicions, but few outside of certain branches of the military and the higher government leadership actually knew the truth.

Too true.

If there's one good thing that Amanda Waller has done it's help make Terry McGinnis.
