One thing no one watching has realized until it was pointed out was during the final scene with Dom and "Brian" driving along is it is an homage to the missing man formation. The Air Force "missing man formation" is a ceremonial flyover to honor fallen service members. Typically, a group of four aircraft flies in a V-shape, and at the moment they pass a memorial, one plane breaks off and climbs sharply, leaving a space in the formation to represent the missing pilot. This symbolic salute is one of the highest honors for a deceased aviator, and the tradition dates back to World War II. They retooled it for vehicles with "Brian's" car pulling off to exit and from what I remember hearing it was kept to 2 cars as Vin's final "goodbye" to Paul from brother to brother.

2025-10-11 02:28:28 +0000 UTCThat ending gets me every time! Also the character fighting Brian is played by Tony Jaa, a great martial artist out of Thailand. Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior (2003) & The Protector (2005) are the first movies I ever saw him in an he performs some amazing stunts.

The ending of this movie messed me up so bad that just hearing part of that song makes me cry. Rewatching it now has me balling my eyes out.
