2025-09-15 06:13:57 +0000 UTCI know a lot of people bring up amber comparisons, but the reason this episode got so much flak when it came out is because quite a few shows were doing the "sour secret identity reveal" at the time. And while Ambers is the most famous it's nowhere close to the worst example. That honor belongs to Teela from the netflix he-man reboot. Amber just gets brought up more because in her case it happened in an actually good show where as the Teela example occurred in a show that was garbage from start to finish. MAWS just happened to air this story beat when people were still (rightfully) salty about other shows doing the same story beat very poorly. I have some criticisms with how this show handled it but compared to how Invincible and netflix he-man handled it beforehand this is Shakespearian.
