Shizuka kidnapped the two girls, but apparently didn't harm them physically. Because why would the newspaper report that the two girls were found safely, if she killed them? But the line "... look into their stomachs, too" is certainly odd. Probably a translation error.

So I heard Takopi apologizing and then a loud pop and the screen went black. For a solid five seconds, I thought he had broken her neck before I realized my power was out.

It doesn't make me sad that all my problems can't be easily fixed, it makes me think about how I can still find joy in different ways, and that things can still be okay.
