I don't think it's too odd that he can end up with either Rin or Sakura, as he is shown to find them both attractive before the divergence point. That wierd dream in movie one where Rin is sucking his blood then she turns into Sakura is a wet dream and it isn't blood she's sucking in the uncensored version, which shows he's physically into both of them. I think he develops more of an emotional connection with 1 girl or the other in the different routes, because events lead him to spend more time alone getting to know one girl better in the different routes. The Saber route covered in the 2006 anime seems a bit harder to justify

2025-11-23 23:09:59 +0000 UTCI liked these movies but I don't think I would have known what the fuck was going on if i hadn't experienced the source material, it jumps around a lot (probably because it's trying to cram a longer story than the 26 episode show into 3 movies) There was a sex-filled and a censored version of the game and for the most part, it isn't a loss to remove the sex, but heaven's feel had a LOT more sex integral to the story, so I think the story loses something without it. The blood drinking was just a sex scene in the original, I wasn't expecting the censorship to come in the form of vampirism xD You got cutaways to sakura POV in the original, which showed you her thoughts and made her somewhat more sympathetic, which they seem to try and replicate here with dream sequences but it isn't very effective IMO

2025-04-12 14:27:54 +0000 UTCI do have my criticisms of this anime adaptation, mostly because of the fact that they forced it to be a trilogy lol. Heavens Feel in the visual novel is much longer than Unlimited Blade works, with it being the culmination of all the character exploration done throughout the routes. The fact that they decided to make it even shorter than Blade Works in the anime is crazy. Almost every plotline besides Sakura has been cut, including Illya's which sucks because the exploration of her character is one of my favorite parts of Heaven's Feel in the novel. Emiya also mentally deteriorates throughout the story after he gets Archer's arm, culminating in the decision to kill Sakura, but because everything is so rushed they just do that weird montage and get rid of that conflict completely. I know people love the animation in the Fate anime, and I do too, but I feel like the overly long fight scenes come at an extreme detriment in Heaven's Feel especially. There's so many character developments and explorations of ideas/morals that are completely removed in the anime in order to make space for a super badass 10 minute fight scene. So much of the reasoning and context behind motivations are gone, making a lot of the events in the series feel a bit hollow in comparison. I also feel the super epic fights really hurt the tone of the story, because the Heaven's Feel route is a psychological horror, and the movies kinda feel like an action series with horror elements
