2024-11-24 03:15:25 +0000 UTCSo this series adapts the Unlimited Blade Works route of a visual novel called Fate/Stay Night (kind of like a choose your own adventure novel but branching off significantly early on). The three main routes are Fate, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heaven's Feel. The anime adaptation does assume that you are somewhat familiar with the basics of the world, (hence not explaining everything) but you seem to have caught on to most of it though, so you should be fine.
