2024-09-25 03:57:14 +0000 UTCSo, there are a lot of nods to various horror films, but the biggest seem to be Sam Raimi's Evil Dead franchise. -The monsters on the dead pool board: zombies, Zombie redneck torture family, molesting tree, and deadites (the name of the zombies in the franchise) are all references to monsters in The Evil Dead (1981). There was a tree rape scene in the first movie. -The main character summons the zombies by reading a diary just like the characters reading out loud the Necronomicon to summon the deadites. -A group of young adults go to a cabin in the woods. This could be a reference to any horror film whether that be something like Sleepaway Camp or Friday the 13th but this feels like an Evil Dead reference.

2024-09-25 01:57:33 +0000 UTCYou probably already know this but since you keep bringing it up The Cabin in the Woods was filmed in 2009 but wasn't released until 2012. This was filmed before Thor was released in 2011 which starred Chris Hemsworth who went on to reprise his role in Joss Whedon's Avengers in 2012. It was supposed to be released in 2009 but was pushed back to 2010 and was then put on hold due to financial difficulties, so there was a possibility that this film might've never been released. It didn't help that this film eventually bombed.
