Ella Purnell, who played Jackie on Yellowjackets and Lucy on Fallout played the archeologist at the end of this episode. I heard that she was going to be involved in the series months before this episode came out and I thought that it was going to be someone more significant, so I was a little disappointed that it was for a throwaway character. Speaking of this scene is a call back to season one, if you remember, Mark caused a sandstorm flying over the tomb in the first season, which means he inadvertently killed her dad and caused another sandstorm that buried them alive, presumably to starve to death since there was only one way in, and they're now buried beneath dirk and sand. The strong woman talking about how her grandmother was a superhero in a bathing suit is an obvious nod to the Golden Age of comics (1938-1956) and was a nod to numerous superheroines of that period most notably Wonder Woman and Black Canary. Wonder Woman because of the swimsuit reference and Black Canary as she's notable for being the mother of the current Black Canary and love interest to Green Arrow in the comics. It's also worth noting that that version of wonder woman settled down with Steve Trevor and had a daughter who goes by the superhero moniker Fury.

Fun fact: In the comics Agent Spider was actually spider-man. When Angstrom sent him through the portal he landed in the Marvel Universe. Their interaction was fleshed out in Marvel Team Up #14 which Kirkman also wrote. The reason that Mark has webbing attached to his back is because Spider-Man heard about his situation was trying to travel with Mark but was cut off when the portal closed. For legal reasons they couldn't use Spider-Man for the adaptation, so they made a Spider-Man pastiche, made references to the recent Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse movie and hired Josh Keaton who's probably most famous and acclaimed for playing Spider-Man in The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series. He also voiced The Flash in Crisis on Two Earths and Hal Jordan on Green Lantern: The Animated Series.

As far as I know, or as far as the show is willing to reveal, Viltrumites don't have super hearing, X-ray vision or laser eyes. I think they just have the more generic speed, flight, super strength, invulnerability, and long lifespans. That's probably why Nolan wasn't able to notice that Cecil was spying on him and his family from across the street in season 1.
