Originally called Fabled Backgrounds, it has now been converted to Wayfarer Backgrounds.
Why the name change?
Drastic overhauls from the Early Access version, and Wayfarer fits the name of the mod way more than Fabled. Adventurers are travelers who typically move by foot, especially in Baldur's Gate 3.
What does this mod do?
Add One D&D Version of backgrounds + Several Revised backgrounds following One D&D Ruling:
Background Features
Ability Scores
When you determine your character’s ability scores, choose two of them, and increase one by 2 and the other one by 1. Alternatively, choose three ability scores, and increase each of them by 1.
Skill Proficiencies
Choose two Skills. Your character gains Proficiency in them.
Feat
Choose one 1st-level Feat. Your character gains that Feat.
Equipment
Your character gains 50 GP to spend on starting equipment. The character keeps any unspent GP as spare coin.
Additional Information:
Feats will be preselected based on the feat. Premade backgrounds mentioned in the 2022 Character Origins PDF will follow their RAW version from the material while other Feats will be using the Lore plus available 1st-Level Feats.
The equipment feature will overhaul the starting level 1 progression for all classes adding the ability to select non-overpowered gear. So non-+1-3 armor & weapons.
Ability Scores are preselected but will follow RAW or usually fit based on what skills are listed for the background.
Unlock several backgrounds that will fit the Dark Urge character so you're not just stuck with The Haunted one.
Introduce several new 1st-level feats I've made for my own campaigns. Also converted some of Grim Hollow's, Dungeons of Drakkenheim, & Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn Feats that I felt would meet the pre-requisite to improve the variety of 1st-Level Feats since the One D&D material didn't offer a lot of them.
Introduces several backgrounds that have a cross-over with Elden Ring starting classes, and Templates. Mostly because I'm a huge fan of Elden Ring and I'm excited for the DLC but I also used them to add in more Backgrounds with Grim Hollow's, Dungeons of Drakkenheim, and Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn backgrounds.
Optional files to remove the ASI provided from Backgrounds or ASI from Classes progression.
Should have this done pretty soon. Mostly spending time at this point doing the text.
I'll have images for the squares after since I just want to get this released.
