Sometimes I feel like George really does not comprehend characters other than as vehicles for plot or relaying information. It's like Simone said at the end Pacino's devil is just being playful. He's not looking at the camera and repeating the line so that the audience understands it's him fully. He does it because he's enjoying himself. It's a character moment, not a plot moment.

I love this quirky gem of a movie. Not much subtext, just a lot of good lines, and direct quotes from Paradise Lost. With Pacino and Theron in best form, makes for good cinema. The CG was already cheesy and bold at the time, but that purgatory wall ornament is always such a nice effect. Keanu is a fine enough actor for my taste, at least he always fits the role. Which often falls on either side of full of ego or humility, but always confident and cool.

As others have mentioned, Cullen’s tacky apartment literally was Donald Trump’s penthouse. You can see pictures in other magazines from the time and later. Cullen’s character was based on Trump (just like Biff in Back to the Future Part 2), even down to his weird relationship with his daughter. When the director requested permission from Trump to film in his penthouse, he was sure it would be declined because the comparison was so obvious and unflattering. But instead Trump gave them permission and then showed up every day on set to ask if Charlize Theron was filming that day.

Ok, so, if you want to watch another movie with Keanu Reeves...I suggest Freaked (1993)

Terb the *Gargling sounds* Delivery Person

Though he doesn't have the best performance of this cast, I think this is one of Keanu's best attempt at acting. He delivery is very Keanu but and the accent inconsistent but he has so really good scenes where he looks legit spooked or distraught.

Simone seems to have really good ideas about things but loses her train of thought halfway through explaining it. Any psychologists here know why that is?

Keanu’s mother makes me think of another 1997 movie The Apostle starring Robert Duvall, Farrah Fawcett, and Billy Bob Thornton.
