This movie is really so powerful and it was really moving to see both of you so moved by it, too. It's kind of a strange movie, but I think it's so brave and has something so important to say.
I had two big moments of revelation in my life that changed me -- made me "wake up" like this movie displays (and like you mentioned, George, as so important): When I cared for my stepdad through terminal cancer, and then again even more forcefully three years ago, when I was diagnosed with a semi-terminal illness myself, with heart failure.
Ever since, I remember forcefully that we have expiration dates. I have one that is on my own horizon. So I see every day -- every moment -- as an opportunity for joy. I actually work for those moments now. I try to make even simple things special -- cutting up fresh fruit for breakfast, the taste of toast, the sip of sparkling water. The feel of sand under your toes or the sight of the ocean or the mountains. Or the laughter with a friend.
This movie is a welcome reminder that we need to cherish all this time we have -- all these moments. And we need to keep that spark -- that joy inside of us -- alive.

Pixar still has a remarkably strong and consistent record that continues today, but it's not quite the PERFECT record of absolute banger after banger that it had in its heyday. They still make excellent movies (and I think this is one of the better ones from recent years) interspersed with merely "very good" movies.

SuperCarlinBrothers have a theory that 22 becomes a character in the movie that follows this one in the Pixar universe. If true... then I think she becomes Abby from Turning Red. Abby lives life with such gusto and the simple things bring her joy. We can't forget that Abby is determined to "burn this place to the ground" and 22 does like fire.

Defending Your Life (1991) starring Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep. Another movie about the afterlife.

Not sure when Luca or Elemental came out but those are two newer Disney Pixar movies that are not sequels. Theyβre quite good.

Fantastic! So glad you guys are watching movies that may not win the poll but just because you guys want to.
And answering the question. My spark is probably cooking. My obsession is trying to be perfect, but a friend reminded that I sometimes need to chill.

The end of that movie made me fucking bawl my eyes out. It's not the best Pixar movie by any stretch, but man, does it hit me directly in the feels. I remember when my wife and I first watched it, I'd read about what the ending represents to the guy who wrote it and I was telling her, and it was so damn beautiful that I couldn't even get through just explaining what it means without crying.

I love the voice actor for Terry, Rachel House. She's been in a lot of Taika Waititi's films, and you've heard her before as the grandmother in Moana.
