Better Call Saul: Season 6 YT Cut - Part 2

Better Call Saul: Season 6 YT Cut - Part 2

The biggest bummer with “Fun and Games” for me is that Nacho’s dad gives us a reality check with Mike. Lots of people love Mike. Often the voice of reason, always impressively competent and largely had principles that set him apart from the viscous drug lords and people that work for them. But he did choose to work for them. At the start of this show, we see the shame he felt for his compromises in the past and how all he wanted to do was be with his remaining family. And we heard him tell Pryce about “honorable criminals.” He turned to crime again, but he wouldn’t hurt people. Despite the pressure from Tuco and then Hector. Then he worked for Gus for “revenge.” Working for one drug lord against another. A “justifiable” cause. Then came Werner. And he knew that he chose evil and was a fraction of the man that Werner was. When Gus made an offer, he told Mike that while he was what he was, he was better than Hector. Though we know that if only because Gus controlled Nacho with the threat against his dad, Gus wasn’t really better than the rest of the cartel. Mike convinced himself that his compromises were “honorable.” Then he told Nacho’s father about his son and tried to assure him that justice was coming. And nacho’s father, the only one who never compromised, told Mike the truth. “You’re all the same.” Despite what we love about mike, he chose this work. He went along with every evil deed. I like Mike, but he wasn’t a good person. He wasn’t better than the people he worked for.
